  1. I wish we could turn him into a catcher. He's got that Sandy Alomar physique (when he was young) and his low batting average could be offset by decent power. I envision Anderson as a free swinging .250 hitter, maybe .245, with a very low on base percentage but decent power. He'd hit .250 with 19 homers and 70 ribbies for many years to come. Could he be moved to catcher? His shortstop skills are not good IMO.
  2. QUOTE (Tony @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 03:19 AM) Can't have it both ways. You think the Sox made a huge mistake by not going the "Yankee Way" (When ironically the reason the Yankees team is trending upwards right now is drafting and their own players) and spending money on free agency because the Sox division is bad and they just needed to add a few pieces.......yet now you're saying they only have a handful of talented players, and how bad this team is. It can't be both. I'm sure a detailed search could find my long post(s) explaining my position which I maintain is logical.
  3. QUOTE (Tony @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 03:14 AM) I thought the Sox were just a few pieces away?!?!?! You guys are nuts if you think I'm going to go through my contender scenario again. I'm not trying to get banned.
  4. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 03:06 AM) Every time I bring up the question "who would you have signed?" you always ignore it I'll go through it all again, but nobody wants to hear it so I won't. Pathetic effort tonight. Sox back at the crossroads. This season can turn to utter crap at any time and it's trending badly right now. WIth this starting rotation as bad as it is and so many lousy hitters you all are probably gonna get your wish. Worst record in the AL for sure; NL not for certain yet.
  5. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 02:55 AM) He said "good loss." He didn't say he was happy. It's a rationalized positive spin on it. Since you seem to know we could have won the division this season without trading guys, who should the Sox have added? Who should the Sox have replaced Avi with (as they would have if they were going for it this year)? Not ignoring your question, but I feel like nobody wants to hear me give my case for contending again.
  6. Sox don't have many players on this team who will be involved in any rebuild. This Engel guy doesn't impress me. I guess Avi, Abreu and Davidson and Anderson are about it. There are truly a lot of bad hitters and pitchers on this team.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 03:46 AM) And like it or not, this is the path the org has decided on so you might as well embrace it Surely you won't root for losses vs the Cubs.
  8. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 03:43 AM) Don't need to keep arguing this every other day. We know your stance. Let people watch and rationalize losses how they want. I just wonder why I can't belabor the point and have to endure sentences like he wrote that offer nothing but saying how happy he is we are losing. Seems unfair I can't respond in anger. QUOTE (mataipaepae @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 03:44 AM) You are really struggling with this whole idea of rebuilding. Boy you must be a peach to be around, so oblivious. I'm like El Rockin a big Sox fan who despises losing especially against these prick teams from our own division. Twinks and Royals bother me but I hate the Indians as well.
  9. Guys that hit into the shift like that last Twin should be ashamed of themselves. If you were playing Little League, Babe Ruth, American Legion, college, and the other team had that kind of shift on you, you'd be coached to uh, move your body and beat the shift. Why does the baseball code allow hitters to not adjust and simply hit right into the shift? It's very interesting to me. If there's a guy playing right over second base you just can't hit it there. You should be fined by the manager or the team owner. This time it was a Twin making the dumb at bat, so that pleases me, but the shift is my pet peeve.
  10. QUOTE (reiks12 @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 01:15 AM) good loss so far shouldn't this be considered trolling? I could go into an angry diatribe at this but I'd be the one banned.
  11. The Democrats are going to have to get humble after losing four special elections. The media being in the Democrats' corner and the pollsters being in the Democrats' corner is not helping. They keep thinking they are leading races and when the votes are tabulated they lose. Trump may be a chump, but people certainly aren't buying what the Democrats are selling right now. Loss after loss at the polls. Need a little humble pie and not the pollsters saying all is well in Democrat-ville.
  12. QUOTE (ypres @ Jun 21, 2017 -> 04:50 AM) Are Sanchez and Leury for real? Or is this just luck? Utility players.
  13. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jun 21, 2017 -> 04:04 AM) luckily, they play again tmr. I know it's hard to take a 3-4 year view, but try. These close losses will be wins if these guys keep developing and they can find a few pitchers. Sox have usually found pitching. What guys? Who on this team is meant to be on a future winning Sox team? Frazier, no; Anderson, yes; second base utility man; Abreu, yes. Catcher, no. Melky, no. CF, no. Avi, maybe. Catcher no. And none of our pitchers are gonna be around for the rebuild so WTF? This is just a throwaway season for some mysterious baseball draft pick who could either be good or totally suck. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 21, 2017 -> 04:10 AM) Losing this game sucks. We had our chances Lost the game once we cut it to one. Played horribly the final few innings down one.
  14. Pathetic. Looked like the last place team we are in that game. Bad pitching. Bad defense. Horrific hitting in the clutch when it mattered. And bad managing with the bunt that one inning when we were only down one.
  15. QUOTE (BamaDoc @ Jun 21, 2017 -> 04:34 AM) Serious question, after Melky gone would Avi at least be average in left due to decent arm? I say no.
  16. That's what happens when you blow a ton of opportunities to tie it. Home team finally puts you away. One win this series would be all one could hope for against the Piranhas.
  17. Avi with the yips in right field. Looking like a Little Leaguer. Oh well. Baseball is a cruel game. You can look great then look like the biggest bumbling player in the world. Poor Avi. Will this performance turn him back into the old Avi in right?
  18. Not trying to start any arguments so ignore this if it angers you, but my gawd how can anybody want us to lose to these f***ers, the Minnesota Twins. Damn the Twins and their fans PISS ME OFF. They've owned us for a long time. I despise them.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 21, 2017 -> 03:20 AM) Awesome rebuild game I was talking to some big time baseball aficionados today and telling them about the fans on this website wanting us to lose and they said that's ridiculous. The consensus was TWO TEAMS in baseball history have tanked well, Cubs was one team and I think Houston maybe the other and they said EVERYTHING BROKE right for them and in general it's a RIDICULOUS idea. So I'm not the only one. These guys know their baseball folks and they said I was 100 percent right in saying tanking is a very stupid idea. And they brought up Trout, not me.
  20. MLB.com has to think of a better way to make advertising dollars than play the same commercial every f***ing half inning. I will NEVER buy the product because of some b**** singing, "I'm gonna retire early; I'm gonna save some money!" f*** you! Nice hit by Avi.
  21. Serious question: How many more bad starts before you DL Holland or DFA him? He seems finished to me.
  22. Why would you trade people think anybody would want Frazier. Poor guy's middle name should be .198 or.202. That's his ceiling.
  23. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 21, 2017 -> 03:54 AM) You are always right on cue. Mauer took two cookies.
