Shields got hit so hard that last half inning. Holding Jays to one run was a miracle.

QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 18, 2017 -> 04:06 PM) I think you just redefined the word "insanity". .330ish is still .330ish. He has been nothing short of "great" this year. I know insanity in a Sox uniform when I see it, and this isn't it. Signing Dunn, Rios, Manny, Griffey -- that is insanity. The Swisher trades -- that is insanity. Now that's a great post. All the ridiculously bad things our front office has done and people give the front office the benefit of the doubt all the time. Avi is despised by many and they'll never get over it til he does this for 3 seasons and by then they'll say he's old and to dump him.

QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jun 18, 2017 -> 03:25 AM) : I wouldn't even give Avi all-star value, let alone superstar. Come on people, let's not pretend he's suddenly a 4 WAR player. There is too much of a sample size that says he sucks to think he's suddenly a superstar. He's 26 years old. This might be the real Avi. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jun 18, 2017 -> 03:45 AM) In a heartbeat. I don't believe in him at all. Wow. I'm assuming you are high on all the minor leaguers that are projected to be good someday. You like anybody on the big league roster not named Anderson? QUOTE (Wanne @ Jun 18, 2017 -> 04:00 AM) lol....geezus...seriously? tough crowd. Just what would impress you?.... Exactly. Tough tough crowd. It's mid June and he's got a ton of RBI and hitting .325. Congrats, Avi. Keep it up, sir.

Game Day from Toronto June 17th at 12:07 PM CDT

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 18, 2017 -> 03:50 AM) 12 of his HR's are against righties and he's hitting .250 against them with a .573 SLG and .860 OPS . I'd say that's good enough to be a regular. 15 home runs in 179 at bats. Not bad for Davidson. Pretty impressive. -
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 17, 2017 -> 09:52 PM) On to first place. Fly the W flags. Sox Nation!!! No matter how you mock it, the Sox have as good a record as Toronto. KC is barely better. These are teams predicted to win win win. Anything can happen in this day of parity especially in the lousy Central Division where only Detroit spends money. Ridiculous to tear it down when u have as many veterans as the Sox do.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jun 17, 2017 -> 08:08 PM) Kahnle showing he can handle high leverage situations is huge. This was a high leverage win. Good point. Toronto has some mashers and it was also nice to see Robertson render some good hitters helpless in the ninth.
-
QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 17, 2017 -> 08:07 PM) We also shouldn't have won it, but pelf gonna pelf What do u mean shouldn't have won it? Is this the start of the disintegration of the winners thread? Just wondering cause I get accused of derailing threads enuf.

Sox win, 5-2. Who would have thought Davidson would have 15 home runs by mid June? Excellent. Abreu having a fine season again. Excellent. Frazier homers and is over .200 at .203. Nice. Pelphrey and Robertson masterful as well as Kahnle. Everyone has to be happy. Old school people get the suicide squeeze bunt. Trade people can dream about Frazier bringing something back. Robertson looking like he could really help a contender team as closer. The win now people are happy cause we win again and are right back in the race. GO SOX!

QUOTE (daggins @ Jun 17, 2017 -> 07:46 PM) I was mostly joking, but he has looked pretty good the last few outings, at least the first two times through the order. My bad, daggins. I thought it was another post wanting a guy traded immediately, even a guy with no value. Apologies. -

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 17, 2017 -> 08:47 PM) Maybe because the basics need to be brought back? I didn't think the basics mattered anymore. Bunting is a modern day no no. Even not so modern. Earl Weaver didn't like the bunt ahead of his time. -

Big inning for Robertson. Can he mow down a good team for the save and prove to baseball he's a lock down reliable closer? If he gets the save today no excuse for not trading him this week. Mid June significant outing on the road against good hitters. -

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 17, 2017 -> 08:44 PM) They are very good when they work That they are. But ... it's totally old school baseball and the Sox are as Sabes as any team right now. Don't understand why Hahn lets him call for bunts. -

QUOTE (daggins @ Jun 17, 2017 -> 07:47 PM) TRADE PELFREY NOW I hope you are joking. He'd bring nothing. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 17, 2017 -> 07:54 PM) Nice job by Pelfrey today I can buy that, however. Kudos to him. -
Who would you be most upset if the Sox traded them?

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 17, 2017 -> 06:06 PM) At some point, you have to cash in on your assets, but not at the expense of a well-reasoned, patiently negotiated rebuild. You Hahn supporters should get free tickets just as El Rockin should for a different reason, being the best fan alive regarding the current team roster. I love the Robert signing and rebuilding that way and through free agency (add without tearing anything down). I love making smart draft picks whether Sale at 13 or Trout at 25, not Alvarez at 2. The Sox should have said they were in a rebuild long ago. It makes for a very happy fanbase. The key now if the "well reasoned patiently negotiated rebuild" is to continue on its long long path is to get all u can for Q and David Robertson, cause nobody else is going to bring squat via trade. Those 2 might still bring something decent. -
After watching the promo of Meghan Kelly's interview with Alex Jones and watching his rebuttal video ... I wouldn't watch Sunday's Kelly TV show if you gave me 500 bucks to do so. They both get what they want out of the deal: exposure. I've seen all I need to see already. She grilled him about thinking all those kids getting killed was a hoax after insisting to him the piece would be all positive making Jones seem like a great dad.

To the attorneys on here: Is it very difficult to convict somebody in a highly publicized case? Look at the case in Minnesota that has people shutting down highways again in protest of the decision that the police officer is not guilty of shooting and killing that kid for basically no reason. Also Ferguson. Look at Cosby having a mistrial. And of course OJ. Do you feel as attorneys that our system makes it almost impossible to convict in a highly publicized trial nowadays? The juries seem to always be letting the alleged killers/rapist/druggers off the hook. As a side note, glad to see the Minnesota cops broke up the unnecessary, awful, dangerous shutting down of a major highway last night by arresting people, which dispersed the crowd finally. This act of taking to the highways is very dangerous and very f***ing stupid. Arrest them!

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 17, 2017 -> 12:10 PM) Greg, it's funny, because when the FO has tried to win, we haven't won much. So of course it stands to reason that when they throw in the towel and begin the rebuilding, we win just as much or more than when they were trying Excellent post.

QUOTE (hi8is @ Jun 17, 2017 -> 08:23 AM) You'll reach a point in life where you realize that some conversations just aren't worth any more continued engagement. Well it's pretty bad when we can't have good winners threads anymore. Can you imagine in any normal season only being five out in mid June with all these home games left and our division sucking? And we can't even have a good winners thread. Very sad.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 17, 2017 -> 06:50 AM) Any tinkering likely would not have kept Avi around; and for sure no Davidson and L Garcia would be unlikely as well in a "go for it" year. In fact they might've been traded for more veterans- some young players certainly would have. And it's highly unlikely those veterans would have performed anywhere near the level these guys are performing. What do you guys have against contending? Nobody ever addresses my comment about trying to win with a real manager. Robin was THAT bad. And Sox brass wasn't ready to give up on Avi yet. Nobody would have wanted him in a trade and if he had another ridicuously bad season they'd just drop him as they did Tank. You keep Sale and Eaton, those are two huge pieces. We are 5 out. What would we be with them?? Like I said even after the Sale and Eaton trades the Sox are technically afloat at just five back. You bring up Moncada and one of the starters the Sox acquired, could the Sox contend? I think our starting rotation is pretty darn bad so I wouldn't bet squat on us contending the rest of the way, but facts are facts.

QUOTE (hi8is @ Jun 17, 2017 -> 05:25 AM) Quintana, yay. Winning... poop. You seriously think we'd be better off at a middle order pick in 18 than being able to add someone like Beer or Gray? Oh yea, this is Greg I'm talking to... shouldn't ask. We're five games out. Had the team tinkered instead of done the so called rebuild we might win the division this year. Sale went 13; Trout was what 23rd? Who gives a flip about the draft? We're five games out and never gave the team a chance with a real manager, not Robin.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 17, 2017 -> 02:46 AM) It's so much better to win then lose. I think we need to be thinking of who have to replace players that everyone is calling to be traded. If we trade Frazier for instance who takes his place? Davidson? Davidson. Is hitting homers but he seems good at DH. Is it not better to hang on to some of these guys another couple years while our minor league talent develops? A blend of rookies and veterans makes for a competitive team. I think the trade chips are the pitching staff guys especially in the pen. I agree El Rockin but they disagree with you and me. The rebuilding people don't give a flip who replaces the ones we trade for now. They feel it will just help us lose and losses are what they thrive on now during the so called rebuild. Remember they want us to lose so we get a top three pick. Nevermind that Chris Sale went No. 13 in the draft -- that's right No. 13.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 17, 2017 -> 03:34 AM) How about those White Sox! And the O's fans are talking FIRE SALE! Let's trade for Machado! Trade for Machado, bring up Moncado? Maybe 'rush' one of the pitchers we acquired from the Nats? Hmmmm. Winners threads rock baby!
-
Quintana pleases me and El Rockin cause we win and he pleases the trade people cause he builds his trade stock. Melky continues to have his best year as a Sox. Sox win a blowout game, seems like more blowout wins this season than the last 2 years combined under one-run loss Robin. The new guy from the Pirates raps three hits. Sox are six under .500 with all those home games to play. I'm telling you, el Rockin is close to being right thinking we're in the race. Greg is right thinking of what might have been. GO SOX! Go El Rockin! Cmon give the team its due and comment in a winners thread folks!
