Bernie Sanders/wife under FBI investigation for bank fraud
greg775 replied to caulfield12's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 24, 2017 -> 05:57 AM) Bernie and Jane Sanders, under FBI investigation for bank fraud, hire lawyers http://www.cbsnews.com/news/bernie-and-jan...d-hire-lawyers/ Pretty sure we can relate this to the other thread and why bipartisanship is dying....depending on which side of fence, it kicked into full gear with Nixon and then Clintons. Bank fraud?? I love Bernie. I wonder if I was mistaken in my fandom of him. -
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 24, 2017 -> 04:57 AM) Yup. Get rid of gerrymandering and it'd go a looooooong way. Greg. You've been overwhelmed with the information available to you now since the days of you taking a train from Chicago to Lawrence. Because you can see more now (including the atrocities and hate) in the world, you think there is more. It has always been there, it was just hidden from you. I'm just responding to a post. Why don't u guys go after the initial post person and their view of life?

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 24, 2017 -> 03:37 AM) Simple: fans wanted a rebuild, the team listened and started rebuilding, fams showing a sign of appreciation and support. Also was a nice night to do something. The fans were cheering like crazy in the ninth wanting to WIN tonight's game. I watched it. I disagree they attended the game tonight as a sign of support for an alleged rebuild. Come on.

QUOTE (KagakuOtoko @ Jun 24, 2017 -> 03:21 AM) How does that make you less naive? I'm not naive. I've been chased by gangs on the South Side. I've seen it all. I know suburbia. I know the city. I didn't start this thread by the way. Read the initial post. I just responded to it like not many did.

QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jun 24, 2017 -> 04:03 AM) I really doubt these guys are going balls to the wall in minor league rehab starts, probably just seeing if he can control his pitches and make it to 100 , no reason for them to stress over the results My gosh, all the excuses for some players and not others. Not trying to pick on you, but Rodon just didn't care that much probably tonight so he had the bad outing. Geez. p.s. That was a horrible game against a bad team. Sox come home on a warm June evening and get shut out? That sucks. Had the good hitters up in the ninth but they couldn't come through this time. Tough break on the pop up. Woulda been nice to have a pinch runner in there. He might have made it to second. I still don't know how fans pay for this bad baseball. Sox are lucky 25,000 fans came to see that crap.

QUOTE (KagakuOtoko @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 09:44 PM) Greg is so naive, it's makes me want to vomit. Must be nice being a white dude living in Kansas. I grew up on the South Side of Chicago. 103rd Street. I know the city.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 04:43 PM) Even as a big Avi supporter this makes the most sense. Avi right now is a comet streaking through the universe but comets can crash , As much as I want to believe he has turned a corner an extension is a whole other animal . Common sense and business sense says wait. Some people think there are a ton of great players (prospects) who will be cant miss prospects we can get for guys like Avi. Truth is he is producing at a rate (right now) hardly any players can match. I'm glad the so called rebuild has so many fans dreaming about a team full of stars (yeah right).

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 09:07 PM) You see Hamilton yet? When you want people dead as many in our world do today, it's past the realm of hope. It is going to take a lot to reverse course. Show me an example of America coming together at any time besides natural disasters (quakes, tornadoes) or horrific crimes (9-11).

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 06:52 PM) Greg, how often do you share articles from the Onion as fact? I thought that was in the Tribune?

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 06:13 PM) Dear lord, Greg. I wish I lived in your world sometimes. Did you read this? Guy wanted the congressman DEAD. This is our world today. Partisan HATRED. I am surprised more people don't agree with me on here, to be truthful about it. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2017/06/23...e-got-shot.html

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 06:38 PM) While the White Sox are known to be open for business, Heyman reports that there isn’t presently much of a market for Todd Frazier or Melky Cabrera. He hears that the Sox would “have to practically give [Frazier] away” or at eat virtually all of his salary in a trade. Frazier’s swinging a hot bat in June (.269/.351/.537, five homers), so perhaps he’s beginning to turn it around and boost that stock. Cabrera, meanwhile, is hitting quite well in 2017 after a slow start to the year, as he’s slashed .331/.386/.480 over the past calendar month. I’d imagine, however, that his $15MM salary and defensive shortcomings limit his market despite the improved production. Also of ChiSox note: Heyman writes that there’s no evidence of recent talks with the Nationals regarding David Robertson. Www.mlbtraderumors.com Robertson and Q are the only White Sox that are rumored to be trade bait who have value. People that have mentioned Melky and Frazier and the like really surprise me, cause they, especially the stat lovers, should know better.

That was such a great article. I love everything about that guy. Everybody, in fact, should pitch as he did. EVERYBODY. Get the ball and throw it like you mean it. He didn't delay at all. He got the ball and delivered it immediately. Hope the weather is perfect and he has a great weekend. Except for those old, old timers and Sale I guess, he's the best pitcher in Sox history.

I guess everyone can be considered a troll including the Tribune. The Trib suggests Illinois should be dissolved into neighboring states to solve its crisis. I would love a serious discussion of what it's like to live in Illinois/Chicago now. Are taxes ridiculous? Do you feel like the taxes are going to drive people out of Chicago and pretty much turn it into Detroit? What are the solutions? I can't imagine Illinois being worse than Kansas but it's possible I guess. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/columni...620-column.html

QUOTE (Tex @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 02:49 PM) One problem I've felt we have as a nation is politics has become sport. Love your team and all they do, and hate the "enemy" and hate all they do. Rodman as a Piston? Evil! Rodman as a Bull? Yes! I also believe that we all have a common vision of what makes America great. We want people to be safe, happy, healthy, with opportunities. We want our kids educated. We tend to argue which path is the correct path to that goal. The most obvious is large scale solutions that Dems tend to support and the small scale solutions that Reps tend to support. (Government versus Private scale). Like the health debate, it stops becoming what is best for Americans, it becomes our team needs to win. With the President we want the guy to fail if we didn't vote for him. Which leads to my question. How can we become more bipartisan as a country? How can we deescalate the us versus them and start demanding that both parties address our concerns? How can Democrats support Trump without sacrificing their ideals and values? I believe the first step is the world should follow the "buster guidelines, no personal attacks. We should be debating ideas not personalities. A second step is for supporters of both parties to stop accepting and forgiving bad behavior from their party. SS2k5 criticizing a Dem doesn't mean much, he probably wasn't going to vote for the Dem anyway, me criticizing would carry a bit more weight, the representative could lose a vote. Now multiply that by thousands and we may have something. 9-11 is the last time we bonded as a nation. It's too late now. Hate has spewed all over so much so that you hear jokes and insults after incidents such as the Congress baseball shooting. Very little empathy for tragedies like the Colorado movie theatre incident, the London concert tragedy. The country is beyond hope because of hate. Again, the only way we come together at all is as a nation is responding to an unspeakable incident the scale of the Twin Towers going down. And nobody wants an incident like that obviously. We cannot become more bipartisan as a country. I love your post but forget it. It's too late. Only thing that will bring us together is if something horrible happens on a HUGE scale, such as a nuke being lobbed by the bastard in North Korea at us or one of our allies. Too late. Hate rules and that's the way it is. I would blame the God-less society we are living in now but hate will be tossed at me on here if I do that.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 06:14 PM) Switching a guy to OF =/= switching a guy to catcher. At least admit his projected numbers are acceptable at catcher, not many other places. With these numbers, he'd be a pretty average (at best) outfielder.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 12:50 PM) How can a mod sit here and not deem this trolling? No one in their right mind could picture Tim Anderson as a f***ing catcher. It's beyond laughable. He right now is making errors at a record setting rate at SS. His OBP projects to be a disaster during his career. However he has power. Is my projection of .260 (.290 OBP) 17-20 HRs, 70-75 RBIs off base too? I asked if he has any experience at catcher. I think he'd be great there. Simple question but instead of answering it I get the trolling insult. Thanks. Many of you are talking outfield. Why isn't that trolling??? It's obvious RIGHT NOW he's a SS for better or worse so why isn't outfield talk trolling? QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 02:50 PM) I deem it trolling. Now what? You guys need professional help. Trolling? What an insult. Seriously. I'm a fricking fan against the rebuild, so shoot me. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 05:46 PM) Good question. I didn't know this was a fishing site LOL. I am more concerned about the spell check police out there. Ban them all! Spell check police are annoying.

QUOTE (KagakuOtoko @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 04:21 PM) The cop that killed Philando Castile should have absolutely been charged. Idiot jury. Juries won't convict. Period. The higher paid lawyers have such an advantage. They are excellent and they know how to beat a jury. Case closed.

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jun 23, 2017 -> 03:34 AM) But don't you get what the ACA really was? A big flaming pile of s***. It's that simple. The real issue is that what we eat and drink is poisoning us. Everything we use is made out of oil byproducts. Everybody's chicken comes from some Tyson factory. Isn't it 1 in 2 men will develop cancer now, or 1 in 3? The problem is cancer. That's it. f***ing cancer. We're all being poisoned and I have no idea how to stop my poisonong or my son's poisoning. Flint was just the beginning. America is one big Flint. And I don't know what to do to protect my loves ones. Move to a tent by some stream in northern Canada? f*** if I know. This is an excellent post. I agree with you. We're all getting cancer from the byproducts and we're also f***ed because of cell phones. You can't tell me holding a cell phone up to your head for 20 years isn't AUTOMATIC brain cancer. Yes we're being poisoned every single day.

QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 09:30 PM) I am truly saddened that Greg's "Convert to TA to being a catcher so he can be a Sal Perez style star with low OBP and 70 RBIs" post was allowed to be deleted without notice. In light of that situation, I'm more concerned about SoxTalk than I am about Tim. I meant the post. Don't you picture TA behind the plate? Pretty tall, good arm. Decent pop in the bat. Low BA. Never walk. And in the post I asked if he had ANY background as a catcher. I think he projects offensively as a slightly better than average catcher. Are the mods arguing a .250 ceiling, about a .290 on base ceiling, and good 20 homer power, 70 ribbies?

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 07:14 PM) Greg, how can you POSSIBLY hold this worldview having JUST witnessed the Cubs and Astros turn from total embarrassments into powerhouses by following this exact process? I'm not trying to be a jerk here, but do you literally only pay attention to the White Sox and Royals? Also, are you actually just angry that we "statniks" are trying to find a way to enjoy our team during this period? Is THAT what this is about? You are upset because we aren't acting miserable? Tell me that isn't it greg, because that is some of the most childish s*** I've ever heard. The Cubs and Astros had everything that could go wrong go right. Everything. I am kind of upset the statniks are out there supporting the alleged snails pace rebuild. Their enjoyment of the so called rebuild takes our miserable front office (KW) off the hook for being unable to put together a division title contending team despite the presence of a handful of incredibly good players on the roster year after year. They wasted my time and yours with Robin at the helm for gawd sakes. TOTAL WASTE OF YEARS. We've had great closers. We've had Sale. We've had Abreu. We've had a decent to good nucleus that with the proper tinkering could have given us nirvana baseball the past 10 years. But nooooo. Oh well I can dream of Ozzie and the 05 team as I wait on this rebuild. p.s. Fulmer and Rodon better be great or the alleged rebuild takes a hit early on.
-
QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 07:50 PM) Garcia just turned 26 years old. If he's not part of the rebuild, then they don't know what they are doing. It's going to take him a long time to have the stat people believe he's not a half season fluke. Considering the lack of good players to trade (Robertson and Q are going to bring something of note I'd think, but that's it) and the projected lousy defensive metrics of some of our young players (Anderson, Burger, Moncada) and the non certainty of our pitching staff even after the Sale/Eaton trades, this rebuild is gonna take a while if we're hoping to rebuild with draft picks. With Q about to be gone, wow, we better hope all these pitchers we acquired plus Rodon and Fulmer are not good, but great. And we'll need a closer. Nate is not the answer.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 07:10 PM) Fewer of us end up with the rain boots than you'd think -- the problem is that we all have other ballpark tasks during the game, so we have to wear stuff than can arguably be ruined but also retain the barest sense of professionalism. It is a paradox, indeed. Never thought of that. You guys almost need a locker somewhere by the field, but I'd guess space is limited as well. I'd hate to work in soaked shoes and socks all day. Do minor league teams pay the interns? Do they pay people for real hours worked? I can only imagine putting in 80-100 hours a week on a homestand and not getting paid or paid for 40.
-
QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 01:20 PM) What's the obsession with people wanting to trade the team's best players? Anytime a player has success, there seems to be a thread about what the Sox could get for him from another team. How about this, keep your good players and build a winning team with them. None of the rebuild talk makes sense so if you want to stay on the board you have to endure. Personally I think rebuilding is a great crutch for the front office. No matter how bad things get the employees can just tell the owner and fans, "We're in a rebuild. It will all pay off someday." Man, the Sixers did the world a disservice by making tanking and rebuilding a sports term. It used to be if you were quietly rebuilding (Pirates, Royals, etc) you were derided and mocked and chastised and probably had to go through 2-3 general managers and managers before the alleged rebuilding finally paid off with a division title. At least you got properly mocked publicly for having to rebuild in the first place. Now it's cool for the advanced statniks to rebuild ... even though we have a thread on here wanting to trade Avi and a thread on here bemoaning how our ss of the future looks average at best. Rebuilding ... thanks Sixers for making it cool. NOT.

Great article. The first time this happened to me and I soaked four pairs of shoes would be my signal to find thigh high yellow boots and some sort of raingear to purchase. People might laugh at me but after they get their shoes and socks soaked and are sitting there in misery all day and night they'd follow me to Wal Mart and buy their own yellow boots. I'm assuming these minor league teams pay their interns very little and don't have to pay them from working 7:30 am. til 11 p.m. Excellent fun article and my admiration to the author for working all day and night and getting soaking wet in the process.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 22, 2017 -> 05:31 AM) If you think this is fun, wait until both Moncada and Anderson are playing defense together. I was just reading an article in ESPN the Mag about defense being the big thing nowadays in building winning teams. Some of the people on this board think our front office has a clue. So we're going to have Anderson and Moncada up the middle defensively? That in itself should prevent meaningful postseason runs.
