  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 02:43 AM) Once that idiot Ozzie took credit for his improvement, his season has gone to hell. I missed it. Did Ozzie help him last offseason or something?
  2. QUOTE (beautox @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 02:38 AM) what a bum...release him... his ERA went up half a run...peripherals still look great, scouts aren't going to look at one bad outing and cap his value. I don't know why you guys think he'll bring anything of note back. To me he's just another guy in league full of blah relievers. He's OK, nothing against him. But to trade for him? Why? He's just another guy, folks. The weird thing is not getting anything yet for Robertson. A lot of teams need closers or eighth inning guys. There must be something about David that scares the advance scouts, thinking he's about to turn to s*** maybe.
  3. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 28, 2017 -> 01:01 AM) Every time I think he's about to completely tank he goes on about a week long crazy hot streak. Don't get me wrong, I'm all about selling high on him if you can, I'm just intrigued to see how he reacts to this super cold streak. He was so hot before the A's series. Now he's something like 1 for 18 or so. Poor Avi. Back to lousiness. Maybe he let the two-error inning turn him back into the old Avi.
  4. Sox bullpen sometimes starts the year OK but boy it always turns to s*** before the all-star break and remains crap the rest of the season. Cept for the closer, of course. Closers have been good for the most part in the post-WS title era. It's still the curse of Joe Morgan.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 03:39 PM) Sun-Times Sports‏ @suntimes_sports 38m38 minutes ago Make him an offer: #WhiteSox general manager Rick Hahn says "all of our guys" available in right deal http://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/white-sox-gm-open-minded-on-all-our-guys-as-trade-season-nears/amp/ …://http://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/...on-nears/amp/ …://http://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/...on-nears/amp/ … Hahn sure knows how to stay popular ... by satisfying the trade-crowd. He has the best job in Chicago. Nobody cares about the crap he and KW have put on the field they only care about future names and future trades. All of the guys are available? Well, out of all of the guys on the MLB club the only players anybody will want are Abreu, Robertson, Q, Avisail Garcia and Anderson and they probably are not trading Avi, Abreu or Anderson.
  6. Bless those who go pay to watch this horrific baseball franchise. Thank God for 2005.
  7. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jun 27, 2017 -> 01:32 AM) Should change in about 5 weeks when we field the Knights You guys are dreaming. Who the hell is going to take Melky and Frazier? I assume you are counting on them leaving.
  8. Uh oh. Avi is 0-for-3 after a 1-for-12 series vs the As. Ah baseball is such an unforgiving sport. that's 1-for-15.
  9. QUOTE (Scoots @ Jun 26, 2017 -> 11:51 PM) Goes to show that prospects are lottery tickets. Your comments sum up why I believe this whole people wanting the Sox to lose to get better draft positioning is stupid. Sorry if you're one of them, but some of the best players have come from very low rounds in the draft...look at Buehrle. All I can say is I agree. The draft is a ridiculous crapshoot. The best way to win is sign guys like Abreu and (hopefully) Robert. I'm in favor of that cause I could give a s*** about how much money Jerry spends since the chairman and his peeps do not care about us spending 9 bucks for a hot dog and whatever it costs to park at a game. Add to signing guys like Robert SMART drafting when your pick comes up as well as FREE AGENCY, you know, signing guys who have already done it and proven they can do it. You can't change people's minds. Draft-niks won't admit it, but they are part of the sports cliche -- you know, the one that always is more interested in future names than current ones. I won't change my opinion; they won't change theirs. So be it. But there are so many busts out there who are deemed "prospects."
  10. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 26, 2017 -> 08:47 PM) No greg, the rising taxes are not making people consider leaving. Good.
  11. There's some Chicago pride going on here with nobody willing to discuss the demise of Chicago and Illinois. I ask a simple question if the rising taxes are making u all consider leaving ASAP and I get no responses. Hey I admit Kansas is the worst state in the union. I'm just trying to get educated on my home state and its woes.
  12. Was this thread written to hike greg's blood pressure? I gave it a 2.
  13. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 26, 2017 -> 03:28 AM) Greg, I think you are right, we might have actually been able to compete for the division this year without trading Sale. But rebuilding will allow us to hopefully compete for a lot more than that over a sustained period. That is the hope and the argument for rebuilding. Who knows if it will work. Good post. QUOTE (juddling @ Jun 26, 2017 -> 04:59 AM) If we kept Sale (and Eaton) , we wouldn't have Moncada or a few stud prospect pitchers. I am holding my breath on Rodon. Good post.
  14. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jun 26, 2017 -> 03:16 AM) The ball club's continued pitiful attendance has nothing to do with a rebuild and everything to do with a pitiful string of fielding a non-winning team year in and year out. It's pretty expensive (if you want a decent seat lower level) to go to a game. And with this team the past few years, you never know if you are going to get a ridiculous stinker like the Buehrle game or a game when they get shut out. Good thing we won it all in 05 cause without that we'd definitely be considered one of the worst franchises in sports.
  15. But just think if we'd just have lost 10 more games we could have gotten somebody so much better than Burger and Rodon and Fulmer. Damn, if we'd just lose more often our great front office would come through.
  16. The Royals are .500 and they are a couple games out and believe they can win it. This is why I get so upset. That Royals team has one, pathetic starting rotation. I mean it's Sox-like it's so bad. True they have sensational players in Cain, Hosmer and Salvy but that's really about it. They've got Merrifield and several stiffs impersonating contending ballplayers. That's why I get mad. If we kept Sale and Eaton, cmon. Arguably with some tinkering (like bringing Moncada up, bringing up a stud prospect pitcher or two and get Rodon healthy) we have as good or better team than that crap KC team that's contending. And we have a closer. This is all ridiculous. All we don't have in my scenario is DEFENSE and the Sox aren't planning on fielding a good defensive team during the rebuild, either. So that nullifies itself. I think we should clean house in the front office and owners box. Get rid of everybody and get a clue, White Sox. We could have won this crap division.
  17. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 25, 2017 -> 09:21 PM) Defense has been a struggle at times Defense is supposed to be in vogue. Sox in trouble. Horrid defense, bad bullpens mean years of ineptitude.
  18. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Jun 25, 2017 -> 01:03 AM) I don't hate Avi at all. As a matter of fact, I want him to be of the White Sox future when we win our next World Series. However, you can't offer someone who wins the league batting title and finishes in the top 3 of MVP vote getting only $6 million dollars per year. That's insulting and would guarantee his exit from the South Side. You have a talent to blast a player through your sarcastic writing. This line: "someone who wins the league batting title and finishes in the top 3 of MVP vote getting only $6 million dollars per year" is priceless on the sarcasm/troll scale.
  19. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Jun 25, 2017 -> 05:57 AM) Tim Anderson had some personal challenges dealing with the death of his best friend. He boots an occasional ball, but he also makes plays that some other shortstops can't. The team is not competimng this season, so let him work out problems and learn to hot major league pitching rather than sending him to the minors. He is still hitting over .250, I believe isn't he? I think the Sox may cut bait with Shields. Renteria did not look happy when he went out to the mound to pull him and I am sure that Sox brass was not all too thrilled with Shields laying an egg on Buerhle day with 38,000 in the stands. Too bad some guys like Anderson don't see the value in walks. His approach to hitting will eventually turn him into a mendoza line hitter. Too many at bats. Law of averages are the ball ends up in somebody's glove that more often. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 25, 2017 -> 02:44 PM) And they shouldn't be. But as they say, the brass has no one to blame but themselves. Exactly. Sox brass should be ashamed they wasted time on guys like Shields, Holland, Pelphrey.
  20. QUOTE (InTheDriversSeat @ Jun 25, 2017 -> 08:02 AM) Let's win this game today, Go SOX! When Holland gets roughed up Sunday for a sweep by the lowly A's, do the Sox release him? I'd definitely make up an injury and sit him 2 weeks. He's that bad. Whoever recommended signing him should be suspended without pay a couple weeks.
  21. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 24, 2017 -> 09:17 PM) There were less than a handful of posters here who actively "loved/supported unequivocally" Hillary Clinton. Wrong. I got reamed over the Hillary thing. I had maybe 1, 2 people half-assed support a position or two of mine on her. Aside from that, there was mass hysteria all over me. I was told to quit calling her Hilly. I was attacked whenever I attacked her. If I mentioned her upcoming coronation I was lambasted. Any time I cited a book or article on how mean she was, they blasted the author. Hillary should hold a Soxtalk convention to reward her supporters. Even my love of Bernie was thrown aside because Hillary was the choice.
  22. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 24, 2017 -> 06:55 PM) Why did it have to be James f***ing Shields pitching on Buehrle day?! Buehrle should have started. He could have trained for a couple months and done a better job than most of the hacks in the Sox rotation/bullpen.
  23. QUOTE (Tex @ Jun 24, 2017 -> 11:52 AM) When was the last time you were with the majority in any thread? Probably health care. I don't want the new law to pass and cause many of us to be homeless someday. And pretty much ruin the lives of those with pre-existing conditions. Also I agree with most that the bunt is bad and Robin was a bad manager. I'm really not a big fan of anything the big league club is doing right now and I am pretty horrified regarding social issues so I am at odds with most in most threads. Trump could have been a common ground. I'm not a big Trump supporter like most say I am, I've pointed out I think evidence shows he's a pretty rotten one-percenter, but that hasn't gained me brownie points with the board for some reason. Even my love of Bernie doesn't please the Democratic portion of the board, cause they loved Hillary.
  24. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Jun 24, 2017 -> 04:11 PM) Double that and you might be close. Obviously you have something against Avi with your troll statements about what he's worth, etc. So what guys on the team do you like? You've been here since 2005 so you must be a Sox fan.
