  1. Yep. The odds of the Sox paying him $25 million next season are 25 million to one. Some team will probably sign him unless he wants too much money. If teams look at how Eloy is doing in Baltimore they'll probably pass on Moncada. If he can get 5 to 10 mill a year, his agent should be agent of the year.
  2. No. I don't want him on my team. Although he's one of those guys who 'still' may be in the 'give him one more year' to emerge category considering his draft status. Vaughn is hitting .246, 17 HRs and 64 RBI. Coincidentally Jake Burger is hitting .244 with 25 homers and 62 RBI. Are they the same player? Sox could have used Burger's 25 homers this year to go to AV's 17. I think Vaughn still may get another year with another team. We know Burger's not done yet.
  3. Not sure how you can say this. With Crochet gone, the starting rotation has to be the worst in the league.Who is out there that's gonna get people out over five innings. And the bullpen remains a huge problem. Including primary closer if we even need a closer.

Eloy, one of the main pieces of the tank job, is 1 hit in his last 18 at bats. Over 15 games he's 7 for 44 with one RBI, lol. What a bust.

But we have no chance of winning, maybe never making .500 again, with this philosophy. We'll deal Crochet for 3-4 guys and they all will reek. Or maybe the hitters will have a ceiling of Beni and pitchers the ceiling of a Drew Thorpe. Let me ask u: Do you expect the Sox roster to on paper be worse for the 2025 season than it is now? And same question for 2026? Will it be just as bad or worse than this year? Bless the Sox fans for supporting this crud. It seems almost criminal so to speak to put the same crud out there in 2025 and 2026 as this season. Except for Crochet the Sox have no player you would willingly pay to watch. Robert doesn't deserve that status after hitting .220 most of this season.
  6. Third round draft pick ... so is Burke good? Looks like Sox are gonna have a good final couple weeks and shatter the 40-win standard. Sheets finally learning to uppercut and hit HRS?

But when you trade all your 'good' players it doesn't help anything. So you trade Crochet and once again (combined with trading guys like Cease) your pitching staff not only will be bad next year but 40-victory bad. If you trade your only 'good' players because they won't be with the team when it's good again, the problem is the team will never be good again. I want a re-do back to the Sale years. Don't trade him, try to improve like a normal team does. It's much better than the trade anybody with a pulse strategy where you acquire prospects who most often don't work out. If you get a good to great player or pitcher keep him. I don't know why all Sox fans can't see this. (A separate discussion is whether Robert, Vaughn are even 'good' players much less difference makers; sure seems like Robert is all hype and Vaughn reeks).
  8. Sox are gonna win a series! I'm gonna have to reboot my brain next April to start hoping the Sox win again. Cause right now I admit I want them to lose every day to set the record. Man, somehow the Sox are gonna have to get all fans to care again. They can do it, win a series today. Wow.
  9. Sixteen hits? Robert 3 hits? Sheets his 9th homer? What's going on? Sox actually gave the fans a good offensive game tonight. Can't wait for the final 2 week domination and the Sox management saying all is well for 2025.
  10. Wow 3-0 lead in the fifth. Maybe the Sox will have a fantastic record the final two weeks, not set the record, and management will be all happy saying, 'We are MUCH IMPROVED and expect to battle for the division next year!" Ugh.
  11. Poor CJ. Facing the big gun opponents with no holes to get through. Coach Q might have to figure something out. Rice isn't used to 2-7 type seasons. I'm not criticizing anybody. I support high school kids and coaches thru thick and thin. It's not the pros or even college where $$$ rules. Best wishes to u and your son.
  12. Little surprised the Sox aren't more a laughing stock nationally. Some of the stats involving this team's record and home record and offensive attack are truly mind boggling. By the way the way it's worked out roster wise it wouldn't have hurt anybody to have had Ozzie be the manager during the Pedro era. It woulda been so entertaining day after day to have the Ozzeroo at the microphone before and after games. Again no manager can win with this roster in the history of baseball so why not Oz?? It'd be FUNNY at least.
  13. Sorry about your son's injury. My friend's son in Kansas is a lineman who had surgery and he's not quite ready to play after a full year. ... As far as Rice, these injuries do suggest this might be in for a rare horrific year in terms of record. If Carmel or Loyola truly rout us in the 45-0 range, the kids might not be able to recover from that. With this schedule, even a healthy team couldn't expect to go better than one over .500. Sorry again your son got hurt.
  14. Me too. Nobody in the organization seems to be embarrassed so bring on the losses please.
  15. If he's happy with the pitching I don't know what to say. It's almost criminal in a sports sense to not have Cease and Crochet leading the rotation. That's half or 2/5s of a good one right there. Sox philosophy: If we ever get a good player we trade 'em for prospects that 'usually' don't pan out. If the Sox win 35-45 games next season ... in what universe is that even acceptable two years in a row without contraction??
  16. They should have asked Getz if he's gonna trade Crochet and Robert. Trade those two (even though I'm not a Robert fan) and our team next year will be weaker on paper than this one. I don't see how it'd be possible to lose this many games ever again. There's no way this team could be this bad again next year? In terms of under 40 wins.
  17. I see Rita beat Rice 14-7. Surprisingly low scoring. Hopefully BR can stay with it and peak later. They could easily be 3-0. They might have to upset somebody though to make the playoffs. Any updates on the team? Is it still healthy?
  18. Didn't the 76ers have single digit wins one season? This is even worse.
  19. No hyperbole: Do the Sox have the worst hitting team in Sox history? And in modern baseball history? If you do all the advanced metrics b.s. does this club come in last all-time in Sox history in runs, run differntial, total hits, total BA, etc. Total K's as well.
  20. Why is Skip Schumacher the flavor of the week? Why's he so great? Can u imagine when he interviews with Jerry? Hopefully some of these guys tell Jerry what he doesn't want to hear. That his team is pathetic, has a mediocre at best minor league system and it's probably going to take at least five years to win. To tell him their trading pieces of Robert and Crochet will NOT bring a haul and the absence of Crochet will make the pitching staff even worse. But we have to trade him to 'try' to get 3-4 guys who are either MLB ready or close to it. Telling Jerry that Vaughn and Sheets are our best two sluggers on paper but they are not good. And that Fletcher and all those guys like Colas are not good either. And of course that Beni would not start for any other team. He also cannot hit. Jerry ... give me five years is the message a smart manager would give to JR.
  21. I don't feel compelled to root for any other team sadly. Never got into the Royals; can't adopt the Cubs. They're not in my blood. Probably best I didn't watch any full games this year, actually not even a full inning. I can't handle the Sox hitters chasing sweepers and sliders and striking out. Maddening. And swinging at balls in dirt. Whiff. Just highlights for me on free mlb.com game summary. That's crazy I haven't watched a full inning of baseball. I always identified it as my favorite sport. Sox have changed it all. They are just too lousy to watch. I have a friend who has moved to different cities and been able to adopt the teams of his new cities. I can't do that. I used to be a Sox, Bears, Bulls Blackhawks fanatical freak. Now I still follow the Sox daily but am only a playoff fairweather Bears/Hawks/Bulls fan. Was addicted to Hawks during the dynasty and Bulls during the dynasty and Bears when they make the playoffs.
  22. Jerry's statement wasn't even humble. He's been around baseball a long time. He knows that current record of the team is monumentally embarrassing. Again, if a AAA team played the Sox schedule it probably would have at least 15-20 wins, about half of what the Sox have.
  23. If they didn't know then they are unbelievably dumb. I knew ... I made plans to not purchase mlb.com. It was obvious the Sox picked up bottom of the barrel guys in DeBong (who had an average year), Nicky, Maldy and had no starters besides Crochet and no relievers. Everybody knew it was one of the worst rosters in Sox history. The only way this team coulda flirted with .450 is if everybody hit amazingly well (Eloy, Vaughn, Sheets, Robert, Moncada).
  24. That was a lousy statement. As someone on here stated it comes out on a day Cleveland scores two runs twice on infield ground balls. That doesn't happen. And poor Vaughn sure looked like he mailed it in today. He's so streaky, I'm thinking if he sticks around for next season they seriously need to sit him a bit more often. I mean he goes from red hot over 4-5 games to 0-for-5 with 3 Ks. Cmon Andrew, figure it out for next season. .He's hitting in the .240s, still not a ton of power.
  25. Man, Vaughn had been on one of his hot streaks. Shoulda sat this one out today. 0-for-5 and defensive lousiness. Once again Sox just what the doctor ordered for Cleveland. Easy sweep. Only fair since the Royals and Twins own the Sox, too.
