  1. Why is he leaving his current job if he's great? Just wondering. I don't follow baseball closely anymore.
  2. There's been absolutely no mention of Chiefs and San Antonio up here.
  3. Trades like this are weird cause as much as I despised Kopech, the Sox are gonna have to acquire some relievers again this offseason. If any are worth a bleep the Sox will have to either pay some good $$ in free agency or trade for some Kopech-like guys. Same with Crochet. They trade him, they'll need somebody capable of a clean 5 2/3 to acquire. That's why greg has always been against tanking and trading anybody with a pulse. Kopech blew chunks but he had a pulse. Now the Sox are gonna have to find some Kopeches and Roberts and Crochets when they deal them. Weird way to build a team. Anyway we can get Dombrosky to end his career here? Or somebody with a clue? How many years do the Sox wanna win 38-50 games? Geez.
  4. I get a sneaky feeling this time the Sox won't win the quest for state tax dollars. When a team is this bad, the state has the clout. It's like "J.R. if you really want to move this wretched team, go ahead. The city will survive with one team in the increasingly boring MLB." I know it'd be a blow to the overall economy if the Sox leave but the timing of this isn't very good IMO. Why would JR put up significant dollars when he can get a sweetheart deal assuredly somewhere else like Tennessee.
  5. I doubt Skip wants to manage a team with such a horrid pitching staff (without Crochet) and lineup in which your big guys are Andrew and Gavin (Robert is still maddening as he hits about .230 and still could be traded as part of the tank philosophy of acquiring prospects). I do respect Andrew for hanging in there. Now he's hitting again. Gavin seems to do OK when he decides to go oppo field.
  6. Yikes. He was gawd awful, no other way to put it, in the Chicago pen this season. How are the other guys we traded doing? I think the Royals are happy with DeBong. I don't know how Pham is doing or if he plays much. Hows our guy Burger doing these days? Eloy?
  7. Are Fletcher and Amaya the real deal? Is Fletcher the next grinder to play 10 seasons in the bigs? Nice dive. Nice hit. Sox quest to bag 40 wins seems possible maybe.
  8. Does anybody really care about Caleb's individual stats? Bears win and 1-0 is good. It's actually a good scenario. He's got a lot to work on but is coming off a victory to do so.
  9. What a dumb thing pitching Crochet 2 innings. Just shut him down already. He's not even doing well in this reduced capacity.
  10. I can see why coaches do that when they have a good running back, but I'd always roll out if I was gonna run on the final play of the OT. Not sure why many times they just run it up the gut. Oh well. Sounds like a thriller. Rice's schedule is too tough by the way.
  11. Sounds like a thriller vs. Marist. Rice falls in OT. Aside from it being a great game 2023, what else can you say? Who had a good game? What do you think of the team's potential? I didn't watch it as I didn't want to pay 18 bucks for streaming.
  12. The suburban White Sox fan wants to drive to the game, not take public transportation IMO. Parking is needed. Even the suburban fans who drive to Bears games can find parking at Soldier right? They ain't taking any train in from suburbia.
  13. The parking issue is huge. People don't want to mess with public transportation after night games. They want to drive away and don't want to walk 2 miles to their vehicles.
  14. Just watched highlights of the 'no-hitter.' What a joke. Three pitchers. Big deal. I saw the last out. At least the Cubs didn't mob the pitcher. He got a hard hug from the catcher and that was it. Baseball has taken away the no hitter. Repeat what a joke with modern baseball.
  15. What's up with all these hits? Bats break out. Will O's get mad and rally? Or is this a rare win?
  16. Yeah, I can't see the Sox ever leaving that area of 35th and Shields. Maybe they'll build another one at the site of old Comiskey only make it look like Camden Yards. Then the current stadium gets blasted for parking. Just do what they did last time again.
  17. Let's face it, Guaranteed Rate field is OK lower level and bleachers area. The whole upper deck should be removed. Jerry making it so steep is dumb. Any grumblings in Bridgeport about the Sox leaving the area? Would it decimate the area economically?
  18. Is there any space for parking at the new park's location? Where actually is the park? For instance let's say you were driving from northeast naperville to the new park? How do u get there? Would there be much traffic?
  19. greg775 replied to Johno's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Francona would cost too much and not be interested. The Sox "plan" is not winning anytime soon. The only "name" manager who would take the job is Ozzie (duck as apples are flung at my head). Who is "Skip?"
  20. Sox are so far from .500 I guess it doesn't matter since there's no sense of urgency to have ANY good players on the roster (once we trade Crochet).
  21. What a horrible game again. 9-0. Six hits. Blah. And the pitching? Can't really be any worse.
  22. Summary/conclusion: I"m not expecting to hear anything significant about Drew again. Just another damaged pitcher. Sad. It's not his fault I'm just stating this whole situation reeks. Like the fact it's just getting shaved down and could return, etc. It's pretty wild when it's more risky to be a baseball pitcher nowadays than a football linebacker. My gosh, all these pitchers wind up hurt significantly. I don't see how any organization could pay a pitcher for multi year contracts. Almost assuredly part of that time will be in a hospital. Sad stuff. Get well, Drew.
  23. Ouch. What a revolting set for DH.
  24. Maybe the Bears or Blackhawks will make the playoffs.
