Sox v Phils 8/24 guaranteed game thread
Morneau I guess was trying to hit a double in the LC gap or something. Fail.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 25, 2016 -> 03:45 AM) The non-Jones and Robertson righties in the bullpen all should be in the minors. Not much Ventura can do. I guess. They are mostly all trash. Jennings is sometimes OK but as u said he's a lefty.

Not that it matters, but what a selfish at bat from Melky. Don't need a warning track fly ball down 3 in the ninth leading off.

Sox v Phils 8/24 guaranteed game thread
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 25, 2016 -> 03:43 AM) No excuse for so many low OPS numbers throughout the lineup. Hahn can't produce an offensive lineup and Steverson hasn't been effective with the players he's had. Amen.

Sox will either go quietly 1-2-3 or we'll score two and that insurance run after Robin conceded will be the difference.

Sox v Phils 8/24 guaranteed game thread
Sox have five hits. Anderson with as bad a game tonight as compared to a great game last night. Now he's down to .276 after hitting .280. Hahn built a horrible baseball lineup. Our team is a nightmare on offense.

Sox v Phils 8/24 guaranteed game thread
One of the things I won't miss about the Robin era is our team just conceding games. If we're down two runs after six innings, generally speaking, forget about it. We ain't winning. Maybe even after five innings.

Typical White Sox. Last night a stellar game, any fan had to be loving life. Tonight ... dead as can be. At least Navarro lit up the scoreboard. Other than that another gawd-awful game.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 25, 2016 -> 01:47 AM) Media doesn't even know Sox exist now with Bears starting and the Cubs the greatest team to ever be assembled It's never been this bad in terms of relevancy. Sox are completely irrelevant. Sickening decisions by front office and players who refuse to play hard. It equals this crap team. I wonder if joining the Sox is considered akin to joining a country club in baseball circles.

What? A blowout win for the good guys?
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 24, 2016 -> 05:59 AM) Only 8.5 games out boys! Just shows how 'easy' it is to be in the wildcard race nowadays. Now I'm not saying we are in the race. But if we had lost 50 percent less of the dysfunctional bizarre games this season, we'd actually be in the race. I know our team does not pass the playoff eye test, but folks, it's not that difficult to stay in the race. That's why Robin has to be given the kick out the door.

Sox in pursuit of Puig
QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Aug 23, 2016 -> 01:47 AM) Make them take Shields and the Padres money for Puig straight up. They can throw in Avi if they want him for some silly reason. I'd be OK with that. Avi and Shields for Puig. Sox could gamble that Shields gets good again next year, but obviously he appears to be done.

What? A blowout win for the good guys?
Holy bleep. We win, 9-1? At home? Happy days are here again (for a night) for our fans. Seriously, we don't win too many blowouts. Anderson back to 280; Morneau with a dinger, 1-4, I'd be OK with us resigning him (I bet we don't). Rodon did well. This is one of those games that made our front office think we'd contend the second half. Once in a while the Sox play like this. Usually they do not. Savor it cause overall this team blows. GO SOX!

Winner Winner Chicken Buffet
QUOTE (3GamesToLove @ Aug 22, 2016 -> 01:29 PM) I think in most cases, if a team has a starter go 7 or more innings, it's obviously more likely that they'll win. Maybe. But you guys can't deny our bullpen is simply INCAPABLE of covering the 7th, 8th and 9th. If our starter gets to the eighth, and Robin isn't having a bad day, our pen has I'd say an 80 percent chance of covering the 8th and 9th. If our starter goes six, forget it. We're losing. If they actually could get him one or two GOOD non closers to go with the closer, we might have a chance to make the playoffs some year. As it stands now, no chance.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 22, 2016 -> 06:41 PM) If he's "diagnosing" her based on the same garbage that right wing conspiracy circles are, he's still an idiot hack. You can kind of tell which videos are fake on the Internet. One that looked real (maybe it's not) is the one where the large secret service type guy is holding something in his hand and she freezes up in a speech and he comes by and sticks her with something. It looks real. Oops I just read the guy says it was a flashlight. Who knows? The other real looking one is one that shows a bulge in her leg ostensibly a catheter. I have no idea. I would think as 70 somethings she and Trump both have some problems physically. Who knows? Bill looks just terrible some days too yet at the convention he looked good. One thing is true for sure. Dr. Drew did say he is worried bout her health. Hmmm.

Sox in pursuit of Puig
They must think of him as we think of Dayan Viciedo, a bust. Maybe Puig does suck. Pass?

2016 Cubs catch-all thread
Are the Cubs a lock to win the WS? Would it be one of the biggest upsets in history for them not to make the WS?

Winner Winner Chicken Buffet
Hey, I'm stoked about Anderson. Hanging in there at .277. I like it. Also, congrats Q!! I have a question. When we have a starter go seven innings, we usually win! Are there any stats to back this up? I really hope next year we keep the rotation intact, cept for Shields, and we stress to our pitchers they just gotta go seven innings minimum. Seriously.

QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Aug 20, 2016 -> 06:45 AM) If only we could go back to the days when President Reagan was doing much the same thing - trading arms with Iran for hostages. Yes but he didn't lie about it. Not that he wasn't a liar. I stand by my comment they all are liars and we should impeach every fricking one of 'em til we get an Honest Abe so to speak. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 20, 2016 -> 07:06 AM) Why don't you run for office, school board, city council, state rep, etc.? It's our responsibility as citizens to be part of the solution, right? I'm too busy (that's my crutch). My goal is to be more of a volunteer guy. I'm ashamed I haven't done more for my church and society. Maybe in my next ilfetime when it's possible to balance work with leisure. Our country makes it impossible for the little guy to earn enough $$$ unless you are born into wealth and a one percenter. Give me Bernie or give me Bernie!!!

White Sox vs. the Philadelphia/Kansas City/Oakland Athletics
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 20, 2016 -> 05:11 AM) http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/cws/history/managers.jsp Al Lopez and Fielder Jones say hello. That said, Guillen is definitely Top 3-4. Cmon Caulfield. Proof is in the number of rings. Ozzie has a WS ring. We fans probably will never celebrate another WS title in our lifetimes. It's that difficult to complete the deal when you are a small market team.

QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Aug 20, 2016 -> 04:13 AM) What are you looking to be explained? The US managed to get a bunch of prisoners released for absolutely nothing. We already owed Iran that money. It's like eating a meal at a restaurant and being handed the bill, but asking for free dessert before you'll pay. AND THEY GIVE IT TO YOU. Did you read the story?? Obama LIED to the American public. Hillary lies all the time as well.

It's that time of year again...2016 edition
QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Aug 20, 2016 -> 04:09 AM) A ten game losing streak would be great right now I think we'll have a huge losing streak before it's over. I'd say something like a 2-10 run. My guess is we win seven games in September. Where will that put the Sox in the draft?

White Sox vs. the Philadelphia/Kansas City/Oakland Athletics
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 20, 2016 -> 03:34 AM) As time went by, it became more about him and his family and less about the team. How do you know? Maybe he knew players on the lousy teams sucked. At least Ozzie pushed the players and called the team out when it sucked. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Aug 20, 2016 -> 03:38 AM) Ozzie started to believe his press clippings and got greedy. He quit on the team, wanted out so he could go to Miami and urinated that job down the toilet in one season. Mark Who cares if he quit on that last team with a week to go? That team sucked beyond belief. It's ridiculous to keep repeating the cliche reason to hate Ozzie: that he quit on the team. This is big boy sports. Yeah Ozzie quit on the team. He also made the front office breathe a sigh of relief that they didn't have to fire him; he did it himself. Ozzie Guillen will go down in history as our best manager ever. Case closed. We won the WS with him. And we won it in four games for gawd sakes.

White Sox vs. the Philadelphia/Kansas City/Oakland Athletics
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Aug 20, 2016 -> 01:41 AM) It would be nice to see the pen shut them down. Usually the mental midgetness kicks in and they think it's OK to give up runs. So they do and don't get s*** from the manager for doing so. Hey, many Sox fans on this board wanted a professional, quiet manager to run the club instead of the effective, yet outspoken Ozzie. People in some respects are getting what they asked for.

White Sox vs. the Philadelphia/Kansas City/Oakland Athletics
Once again, one of these blowout losses. It's not hyperbole to say we NEVER (okay very very rarely) win a blowout game. But we have these stinkers, often at home, quite often. You have to really love the Cell atmosphere or MLB to buy season tickets the last 3 seasons to this gawd-awful ballclub. We get two hits off some no name pitcher and Shields gets rocked again. ... Thanks White Sox for being so embarrassing once again some of us want the offseason to get here ASAP. I hope the fans booed these bums.
