White Sox Winner 7/3/24 . Fedde Up !
Surprised we didn't get swept after the game one loss. Nice win.

Grifol surprisingly defends Robert, annoys more Sox fans...must be trying to create any "supportive good vibes" possible before a trade?
Ricky completely and utterly got the shaft, so to speak, by KW. He should never have been fired. Dumb.

It was teed up for the talk shows today in Chicago if they decided to take a swing. Robert not throwing home was frankly disgusting. There's nothing to lose by getting set and firing your best bullet home on a SHALLOW or medium deep fly ball in the ninth inning with a man on third for gosh sakes. Him not throwing home was frankly a disgrace to the game of baseball. You just don't see guys concede the game like that when the runner on third could fall or screw up. He actually should be fined or benched two games. It's a sensationally bad optic and reflects on the manager! Leyland woulda reamed Robert for that one. Earl Weaver? Cmon he'd have torn into Robert verbally. Throw the darn ball. That said ... I still like Robert as a player overall. Just furious however about that play. Roberts's non throw was against the unwritten rules as well. You don't eat the ball there, ever, if you are a competitor!

Under what scenario would you consider offering Crochet and/or Kopech extensions?
Change Kopech to a starter. If not willing to do that, dump him for peanuts. He's stealing money in the bullpen as a lousy closer. ... And yes I'd prefer keeping him and making him a starter.

Tim Anderson DFA'd by Marlins
Fans who booed Big Frank out of town, let me ask you, do you have any all time favorites? Or are you all grumps like the Randy Quaid character in Major League? In my mind you can't consider a guy a favorite if you ever booed him publicly. Pete Ward hit .240 in the 60s but was some kids' idol. If they wound up booing him out of town they can no longer claim him as an idol. Sometimes players deserve support no matter what. Big Frank in my mind deserved that support, ditto guys like Robin, Richie Zisk, Dick Allen, Abreu, and in my case Chet Lemon. Why boo a legend in Frank Thomas?

So as long as a player is producing all is fine. But a player who put the team on the map, on his back for many years so to speak, can be booed when his production dips. Moral of the story: Produce and you will be cheered; produce for many years then start to reek and you will be booed. It all boils down to the mantra of sports that will remain forever: Just.Win.Baby.

It's what I hate about sports. When you boo guys who once were great you are showing what a fair weather person you are. Once I respect a player I stick with the player.

If Frank did indeed get booed, those people that booed should have their fan cards taken away. That's just unacceptable. Some guys earn lifetime achievement awards which includes no hometown booing.

I think he could play 2B adequately to nicely. It's a lot easier than SS where he was unreliable.

Sox at Guards Jo Noah was right about Cleveland game thread 7/2
Also it was a close, 'good' game. Competitors like Pete Rose make that throw. I'd love to hear some old time baseballer talk about Robert not throwing. Again, very bad optics. There's always a chance the runner falls or leaves early or misses the plate. Weird way to end a close game against the division leaders.

That one might deserve a fine. Or have him sit a game to think about it. What if the runner stumbles?? He didn't even toss it home.

Cleveland announcers a bit baffled Robert didn't "even bother" to throw home on the pop fly that won the game. A bad look if anything. Mabe Robert felt as if he'd pull something if he fired a throw home. Bad optics anyway.

The Sox are just what the doc ordered for Cleveland's Guardians. We make teams well. I have two questions: 1.) Is Sosa good? Is this guy a pivotal piece? 2.) Do we now love Vaughn and figure he's finally figured it all out? He's almost to .250 and slugging HRs. He's a likeable chap so I am rooting for Vaughn. Now I'll read how we lost this one. I haven't checked anything but the box score so far.

Holy cow. This will be controversial, but I'd sign him. He's much better than what we got. He's a cheap contract and if we want to build on our pitching for next year, we have room for him at second base!! We can release Lopez and sign TA and have him get his act together with a strong eye on 2025. You can't deny we need a middle infielder til Monte is ready.

Story on Sox trade possibilities...
The problem is we in the interim 'add' your Lopezes, Phams, Maldys and the plethora of guys we've acquired to try in RF the past several seasons.

Story on Sox trade possibilities...
I respect you for your consistent angst/anger/displeasure regarding Jerry. I do. I hope u respect my anger/angst/displeasure at this new Sox mandate of losing losing losing every year under the guise of a 'rebuild.' ... I'd buy into your JR argument, but he's had the best doctors in life. He may live 15 more years for gosh sakes.

Guess Trade Values of Sox Starters
I wish we'd call this a tank/rebuild instead of just a rebuild. That way the horror of the next few seasons would be more fresh in our minds. I still shake my head at a rotation that includes Cease, Crochet, Thorpe, Fedde, Kopech, Schultz and the other minor leaguers. Robert as well as Quero and Montgomery, Ramos and Colas are ready to rake. But we already got rid of Cease and are about to strip Robert and /Crochet from the mix so we can keep taking/losing at least 2 more seasons. Fun times on the south side.

Story on Sox trade possibilities...
At what point do we stop? When suddenly we have so much talent we win every game, every series? Let's say we trade Crochet for four Orioles prospects. Some of those guys may be close to being ready for the bigs, very close. So if one or two rake, do we then deal them for more prospects? Then if one of them excel, do we trade that guy? So suddenly the Sox are smarter than everybody and have acquired voila a WS dynasty? Oh wait, we had a chance to build on a great team in 2005 and did not.

Story on Sox trade possibilities...
White Sox tanker Math (which by the way is loser mentality in life): Obtain/develop two of the best players/prospects in baseball (Crochet, Robert). Then get rid of them and field a team with a whole lotta Lopez'es, Maldy's and Phams.

Chicken and egg theory. Seems to me the Sox are re$igned to never being elite again. Thank$ Jerry.

Story on Sox trade possibilities...
The Royals put Bo Jackson in their Hall of Fame Saturday. Remember the days the Sox thought it important to sign Bo Jackson? A real star? Long gone. Now anybody good gets traded with apparently the goal many 100 loss seasons to come.

Story on Sox trade possibilities...
I'll venture to say 90 percent of Sox fans consider it purposefully tanking for the future if Crochet is traded. Nobody cares about money. They just want to win.

6/30 Sox vs. Rocks 1:10 PM
What's with the Sox pitching? It's become the best in the league over two weeks or so. Sox will have a lot of explaining to do if they don't get a total HAUL in return after trading all our starters soon. Sox pitching coach must be a whiz. Managerial candidate?
-
6/29 Sox vs. Rocks 1:10 PM
Yeah I thought it too (watching replay as I don't watch the games this year with no mlbcom), but like I said, the 5 to 12 year old market ain't watching.

6/29 Sox vs. Rocks 1:10 PM
But Lip Man, with Cease and Lopez and the current crop of starting pitchers (plus Quintana) we'd have a promising outlook for next season, assuming Jerry would pay just a bit for 2 everyday players. Is he that cheap he wouldn't take on ANY money at all?
