Funny you mention a funeral. To show you how crazed a Sox family I'm from in case you ever think I'm lying or trolling about my Sox fandom ... My dad died about 5 years ago in his 70s. I went back home of course and being the only remaining practicing Catholic in the family (my dad was big Catholic; a Eucharistic minister and all that) I stacked the Mass with the most touching, emotional songs and readings in our Mass repertoire cause I wanted to respect my dad that way. We still have some impactful songs and readings if you look for them. Anyhow ... I'm in my mom's living room looking through old pictures for the funeral home montage and I see a White Sox sweatshirt and pants draped on a chair. At some point after looking at that for several hours, I said to my mom, 'What is all this Sox stuff?' My mom said, "We have to take that to the funeral home. It's what your dad will wear (in casket and forevermore). I said, 'What?? He doesn't work for the White Sox!! He had a great career at the Board of Trade as a zillionaire broker and was a great dresser, proud of his suits, ties, etc. There is no way you are burying him in Sox gear!" To my mom's credit, she calmly said "You are right I don't know what I was thinking," and went to get a suit and tie out of his closet to bring to the funeral home to bury him in. I apologized for raising my voice but I said, "No way he is being buried in gear of a franchise that drove him crazy as much as gave him a bit of enjoyment. He wasn't an employee of the team or anything." Geez. Just thought I'd add that to point out my background in fandom which is intense regarding the inept Sox.

Probably true and this is why I should just dump finally being a Sox fan. It infuriates me. There's no reason to play Beni or keep Beni. Write it off as a misplaced expense, fire whoever wanted the guy in the first place. Finally ... I think your position is nothing matters til Jerry sells the team. So go ahead and complete another tank/rebuild. My position in a nutshell is the division we are in sucks. It doesn't take much to contend. With the pitching staff looking average now (you said it's a small sample size so I do realize that) and the everyday lineup two proven solid hitters away from being average to a little below average and the bullpen 2 solid guys from being average, there is hope if you do it my way. Yes the Sox are the worst team in baseball by far but not many moves from being a .440 team and with a good manager maybe a .480 team.

Geez Joe Joe: Fedde might bring a fair prospect; Pham and DeJong will bring nothing of future value. I wouldn't mind trading any one of those 3 but they aren't going to bring squat. You could DFA Fedde and DeJong and there's be marginal interest. So you are saying they aren't making any controversial trades: Crochet, Eloy, Robert, Vaughn, Lee. Fine by me.

Lip I respect you but even u have to admit the pitching has been good to excellent the last two weeks. Hitting still reeks to high heaven but I'm not making it up that Sheets and Lee and Vaughn have hit a bit better. Robert and Eloy will be in there together soon to provide (on paper) a respectable 1-2 punch at 3 and 4 however Eloy is close to being finished in my mind. I may be too optimistic, Lip, but I don't understand why you don't agree with me on the pitching part of it. Not sure why Jerry minds dumping Beni. Anybody with 1/3 of a brain knows he provides zero value. Would be nice to get rid of the zero value guys like Beni and Maldy for starters. And I'd put DeJong in that group. Dump him.

Man ... I'm not the BEST business person but to write off 2025, 26 and 27, how can that business stay open? And our division is cleveland, detroit, kc, minnie; one big LOL. And we can't compete til 27 or 28? Geez. I think with my plan (which only requires adding 4 players) Sox have a chance at .500 which means contention. I could be wrong.

Not sure what that will accomplish especially with the team close in terms of being strong in one area instead of abysmal in three areas.

As long as I have disposable income and am not close to being broke I will remain a big tipper. HOWEVER I can see not tipping on this can issue. Out of principle. Beer prices at sporting events are evil. Case closed.

True dat but entering the season we had nothing. Now we have excellent starting pitching. I'm telling u guys ... the Sox have to revolutionize pitching to ever win it again. Sox pitchers have to bring in Buehrle to teach the guys to attack and throw strikes. Our starters have to go 7 1/3 nightly cause the Sox are incapable of building a bullpen that would have say, 4 reliable relievers on a given night. We have the starting pitching now. Let's shut down Kopech the rest of the year and work on his mechanics/mental mechanics and decide which young stud pitchers in the system could switch to relief. Sox have great starting pitching. Now all it'll take is 2 hitters in free agency and 2 relievers in free agency to go with system development.

Anyone noting Sox are getting good pitching for the most part? I still say .490 is possible the rest of the way. Get rid of Beni, play Lee every day, get our suddenly good starters to throw strikes so they can go 7 2/3 minimum and tell Kopech WE NEED YOU and maybe we got something here (til we trade everything away). Sheets and Vaughn are hitting just a bit of late.

Today shoulda been the last straw. Pedro had to be fired after the baserunning gaffe to end the game. Players have to have their managers backs and the veteran mistake said: "This team blows. We all wanted to get to dinner so I made a dumb baserunning blunder. Sue me."

Man even a good month is just 5-13. I thought the bats would heat up as the weather heats up. July could be a hitterish month at least for Sheets, Robert, Vaughnie and Phamster. The Royals NEVER considered dumping Witt. He was part of a miserable team. Now they are winning. They coulda traded him and in theory got 4-5 very good prospects. They didn't. He's now raking. They are winning.

Gee, sorry to consider Abreu a great player. How can anybody argue the Sox appear disinterested in keeping stars around (Robert, Crochet)?

That was a fairly blah loss. Typical Sox. Just not good enough so they lose most games they play.

Yeah that's the part of Sox history to me has been especially awful. Seems like we want no part of great players and if we get one or two they've got to be dealt.

By the way, for some reason my brain is saying he will wind up in the NL. Maybe even to the Cubs or Mets. Cubs allegedly have some pitching to deal right? He's exactly what the Royals need and they have pitching to trade (but are cheap like the $ox).

I like your posts but hate this particular post. We're never gonna be decent again if we trade the players that have a chance at .300, 30, 120 (when healthy).

I betcha Sox talk is agreement on one thing, this. Get rid of Beni if at all possible please. Same with Maldy.

The Sox seem adverse to keeping great players like the old days when we always had a star or two. Since Abreu left it's like we'll never have a stud again. Robert at least has a 10 percent chance at being one of those studs. Hopefully he won't get hurt again. Why trade him for a pair of scrapheap additions? Robert is close to being the type of player you wanna go see. Sox have none of those guys since Abreu.

I'm a South sider true and true, born and raised there. That said ... isn't the South Side kind of old money? Aging population? North side is young more hip money? How does one define a South sider nowadays?
