  1. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 30, 2013 -> 05:17 PM) ^this...and most boards would classify that as trolling I hope nobody thinks I'm trolling. I've said before I don't even know what trolling means. If you want me to change my posting style, let me know, but I hope you all trust what I print is what I mean even if it seems warped to you. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 4, 2013 -> 12:15 AM) Unless you're my brother, you're not. He's my brother's childhood idol and they have almost the exact same personality. That's neat your brother also loves Ozzie. Does he swear as much as Oz? I just can't see another team ever hiring Ozzie as manager because of the P.R. hit the team would take. In this day and age you can't hire a guy who can be googled like Ozzie can be googled (comments on Castro, gays, drinking a six pack after every game, etc). Only Jerry can rescue him as Jerry is his father figure.
  2. Man, I haven't watched any games of late. This is like spring training where I never watch any games. We been playing any September callups yet? I need to watch when that happens.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Sep 3, 2013 -> 06:14 PM) Jeff Ross, Andy Samberg, Aziz Ansari, Sarah Silverman, and Jonah Hill were all real good. Really wish they could have had Jeselnik and Shumer on it though, they are great in those roasts. But I think since it was James Franco, they wanted a more prestigious group of roasters. How can I see the replay? Love the roasts. The joke somebody cut about Pam Anderson's xxxx during the Hasselhof roast was just fricking amazing.

I still say reruns of The Office are addictive, almost like Seinfeld. Will Farrell cracks me up. I have no idea how the writers wrote for The Office. Talk about having no plots and just great dialogue....
  5. How does she feel about it Reddy? Send her a text?
  6. QUOTE (Real @ Sep 3, 2013 -> 10:40 AM) i'm not sure if i should give you credit for trolling for this many years or pity the fact that you still enjoy doing it, and you haven't realized a much more serious underlying problem i guess if we just ignore our problems they go away on their own. I'm still trying to figure out why the lol on Flowers not being a Sox next year. Just cause he was injured? He seems like an average at best player for me. I could see him not being back. Sox have to acquire a catcher who can hit a bit.
  7. QUOTE (Tex @ Sep 3, 2013 -> 07:18 PM) I am convinced, without any hard evidence, that Ozzie has drinking, thinking, and parenting problems. He could have been the most popular baseball person in the history of Chicago, yet he pissed it away. He wasn't as bad as we think, and not nearly as good as some think. He got too much credit for 2005 and too much blame for, well everything on the field after that. He has a drinking problem. Did I mention that before? I bet he doesn't drink as much now that he's unemployed. Obviously I have no proof. I wonder if I'm the biggest Ozzie fan on the planet. That's food for thought. I could be No. 1 Ozzie backer, though I'm sure there are others running around the South Side.
  8. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Sep 3, 2013 -> 03:57 PM) LMAO greg, you are trolling again bro. The season is ovaaaah! You're going take your licks playing youth and that's the bottom line. I wonder if Ozzie was managing this team if you would make the same comment. Thinks that make you go hmm... Why am I trolling? I was flat out pissed off after watching that team screw up that inning like a bunch of 4th graders trying to play the Yankees.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 3, 2013 -> 01:18 AM) lol How come you lol'ed. Flowers hasn't exactly looked very good this year. Though he has popped a few homers.
  10. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 3, 2013 -> 03:19 AM) There is no heat on Hahn whatsoever. I should have said Hawk saying it is the worst inning he's ever called would be an embarrassment to Hahn and Ventura, who directed this mess of a team. Most announcers wouldn't go there. They'd just remain dull and shout the company line.
  11. QUOTE (ron883 @ Sep 3, 2013 -> 12:47 AM) did anybody else think hawk called the sox the "sux" right as the game ended? sure sounded like it I doubt he did that because isn't "sucks" technically a cuss word? He could get the axe (no pun intended).
  12. QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Sep 2, 2013 -> 09:55 PM) And De Aza keeps giving plenty of chances. Is DeAza any good in left or a disaster in both left and center?
  13. I'm glad Hawk said that. It does put the heat on Hahn and Ventura for this abomination of a team they are directing.
  14. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 2, 2013 -> 08:30 PM) Jesus. You know you SUCK when elrockin has seen enough of you. That made me smile. I've never ever seen elRockin dislike a player on the Sox. Axe is so bad I truly think some Sox talk posters could hit him. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Sep 2, 2013 -> 08:37 PM) I feel sorry for Ventura. I wish they would expand the roster more and just waive guys like Dunn and de aza. Sow some integrity. There's no funny bad about that inning. I'm with Hawk, that was embarrassing I don't feel sorry for Robin. This team has been in the tank since getting boatraced by the Cubs. This has been the season from hell and he has 'some' decent players and a lot of good pitchers to work with. If managers matter at all, he gets a D to D- this year. Suddenly a lot of posters don't think managers matter at all, so I guess Robin remains an A-plus in some's minds.
  15. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 30, 2013 -> 01:21 PM) There's really not much we can do about it, unfortunately. Any action against NK will piss off China something good and result in NK leveling Seoul and killing millions of civilians. There were two really interesting documentaries I've seen on NK. The first was a NatGeo look inside the country by a team of journalists ostensibly traveling with this eye surgeon who has developed an extremely cost-effective cataract surgery procedure. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mxLBywKrTf4 The second was about a US soldier who defected to NK in the 60's. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0473181/ Strange, thank you for the links. I had some time last night today and I watched both and wow, I learned a lot. I was amazed at the staredown area between North and South Korean soldiers on the DMZ line I believe it's called. That is scary s***. Soldiers stationed there all day and night staring at each other. And the North Korean soldiers do not have their back to North Korea cause they must prevent anybody from sneaking by into South Korea. I think Rodman should be ashamed of himself for going to visit that bastard leader of theirs. The guy has all this expensive stuff from other countries to enjoy yet he has his own people living in poverty. It's so sad that people have to live in a country with a dictator. It's so barbaric. If anybody makes a peep of any kind they are thrown in a concentration camp to starve, get beaten, die. I thank God every day I'm in a country where the government can't do that s*** to me. So very sad. The bastard U.S. defector was saying that medical care is free over there. Then the expose' points out there is no medicine over there, not even safe anaesthesia. People were flat-out blind until a Western doctor went over there and did some simple cataract surgeries. Then the people can see and do they thank the doctor?? No. They go up to a picture of Suk MuK Dick or whatever his name is and bow to him and thank him cause they are so scared of getting thrown in a camp. Very very sad and Rodman should be ashamed of himself hanging out with such a f***ing creep. p.s. I just read this in the Ottawa Citizen. What are the odds of this happening? "If Kim Jong-un judges that the time has come to purify the South of democracy and invades, his action would surely prompt an American response that, in turn, would draw China into the conflict. It is a terrifying thought that this slightly farcical regime could trigger the war to end all wars." My comment: WIll North Korea be the country that is the catalyst to ultimately end the world?
  16. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 1, 2013 -> 08:17 PM) It was an ill-advised, poorly-made throw. Time or not. He should have put it in his pocket. Gillaspie has been OK at times, including the game he won for me in Kauffman with the HR in extra, but he screams "mediocre big leaguer" to me. He ain't a starter. He's a better version of Lilly as a sub, but should be sub only next year IMO.
  17. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 30, 2013 -> 07:52 PM) He defected in the 60's. He had a really s***ty life prior to joining the military and being stationed on the DMZ. He was a loner in the Army and a mixed up kid. Yes, he's treated well there. He's a quasi-celebrity along with a handful of other American defectors from way back in the 50's and 60's. I watched the second one on youtube. Wow, the Dresnok story was just amazing.
  18. I watched some of the Northwestern game. Damn NU looks good again. Serious question. I'm assuming NW recruits the Chicago area amazingly well. How come Illini can't build a powerful program just from Chicago Catholic League and Public League kids and some of those studs in suburbia???

QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Sep 1, 2013 -> 05:44 AM) I wasn't saying that's why he lost per se. When people were referring to McCain's age, I heard a lot of them say they were fearful of Palin being "one heartbeat away" from the presidency. That was one of the reason's why he lost, but following Bush made it hard for any Republican to win. I don't remember anyone referring to McCain's age as being too old to serve as president. There were people who wouldn't vote for him regardless of his running mate, but I don't think age was the factor for most of them. I think the Palin thing was a HUGE factor. Can you imagine if McCain died and she had to take over?? It's just incomprehensible.

    Syria

Bear with me here. I like the fact Obama is going to ask Congress about this issue, but on the other hand I don't like what I heard on the radio today from his mouth. Yes, he seemed like a "weak" leader to me. If Obama wants to f***ing send bombers to send a message, then stick to your guns, Obama and be mean and forceful with your quotes/comments. What I heard today was a guy kind of put it on Congress to decide. He was all calm and meek-sounding if that's the word. I think Obama knows damn well Congress will NEVER vote to bomb Syria. There's no way that many men and women will vote for an aggressive act. No fricking way. By putting it on them he's washed his hands of the matter, so to speak. Now if he was a passionate leader ... maybe they'd take his lead and do it. If he was a passionate leader, maybe he could get something passed once in a while. They will not vote for bombings IMO. No way. I don't like Obama's overall body of work and you know what, if he could run again he'd win again. And again and again. This country is the greatest in the world, but baffles me big time at times. The picture of that little kid dying looking at the blood on his hands is the saddest picture of all time. It is a sign of what may be in store for us all in the future. More senseless killings and someday chemical weapons really really really being a problem all around the world.
  21. I see Peavy only walked one guy. Surprised he had 109 pitches in 7 innings only giving up five hits. We must have fouled a lot of pitches off. Looks like he had very little trouble against a team he knows can't really handle his stuff. This getting clubbed by Boston is probably a good thing. Hopefully it'lll let management know we still need help offensively to compete against the best.
  22. Don't worry, I won't take the bait to fight and get in trouble.
  23. Sounds to me like the Tigers want to keep winning if they are going to add Cano. They're doing what I wanted to do after 05. Dominate a fairly weak division. I'm against long-term ridiculous contracts, but they're doing it for position players rather than pitchers. Interesting.

Those pictures make me cry. The one of the little kid looking at his hands. I'm sure the kid died. I mean what the f*** is wrong with HUMANITY!!!! That kid's life lasted 2-3 years and ends at the hands of CHEMICAL WEAPONS???? f***.
