I think Francona would have this team in the hunt probably. If Robin decides to step down, I'd immediately promote Coop and let him try.

Haven't followed this case, unlike the Casey Anthony case and Jodi Arias and some of the other hi profile cases of the last few years. That said, I've read Whitlock's stuff on foxsports about race issues. What's the quick take on this case?? Did the jury not have anything to go by? Why is he innocent? Is it more of the lack of evidence thing?

Nice game one win. Split however, Philly wins tomorrow to take 2 of 3 and have the Sox stagger into all star break as the most disappointing team in baseball. Royals not far behind, them, however, considering they were supposed to be better. Robin is a nice guy and a former Sox phenom, no doubt about it, but he is a joke of a manager. Good luck to Thornton. I do hope he has success. He frustrated the hell out of me as a Sox fan the past couple seasons. He seemed to have so much talent compared to some of the lefty stiffs we've trotted out there, but he got hit just like the rest of them. This should re-energize him mentally if he needed a kick in the pants. I know nothing about him so I don't know if complacency ever set in with him or he just got hit.

I don't want to over-react, but I like what I see in Phegley. I loved after today's victory over Detroit he stood out on the field and greeted every Sox player as they ran past him toward the dugout. I'm thinking out of all our players, he at least acts like he cares more than anybody else. Some of you don't care about intangibles ... I like his intangibles. Now for his performance. He has four hits in 20 at bats. Three have been home runs. Today's homer won a game. Now an optimist could love his eight RBIs. A pessimist could be bummed by his six strikeouts against no walks and say he's just another lift and pull member of the White Sox (albeit it's just 20 at bats). At the risk of your wrath (people are going to get all mad and say we're talking about 20 measly at bats), I want to ask you ... Is Josh Phegley going to be a stud?? Or another lift and pull .210 type hitter? I like Hawk's comparison to Brian Downing. I like Phegley. Do you??
