Well, Dunn is officially good again. I know the stats have been good for more than a month now. Don't know what to say. Guess we should enjoy it. We all know he appears to be a great guy so I'm happy for his success. On paper, with a healthy Konerko, our lineup wasn't THAT bad entering this season, albeit weaker than last year because of the AJ for Flowers flip flop. We've got the good Dunn again. I have no idea if the Sox will get a ton for Dunn in the upcoming trade. I still would think teams would be wary since he can be so so bad. Dunn had three of our seven hits today. Good job by Q and Reed to allow no runs.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 4, 2013 -> 02:32 AM) Why don't you like Gillaspie? He has more homers than Dayan. He had one robbed right at the top of the fence or he would have 7. For some reason, I consider Gillaspie a utility guy, like a little better version of Lillibridge.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jul 4, 2013 -> 02:08 AM) This. It's also boring after about 30 seconds. It seems like it might have been a long speech before the rapping as well. They sped up the speech part of it on the tape so it must have been long n boring. Upon further review, I watched the whole video and the people all seemed to love it and it was pretty solid and unique. Kudos to the sister/maid of honor. Good job.

QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 4, 2013 -> 02:25 AM) I don't give a s*** about the draft. I'd rather watch us win and watch players play well and become part of the future. I'll get excited about our draft pick no matter where it is next year. Amen, brotha. I feel the same way.

Sox win a game every now and then but lose every series, even at home. Bad team. Thank god for the Blackhawks. Easier to stomach this pitiful season.

Nice a base hit by Kepp. Cmon Beckham. Fourth of July, baby.
-
Oops a DP candidate here in Kepp.
-
Is Viciedo a prospect or a bust? One out.
-
Flowers had plenty of time for the DP, but I guess the runner's legs bothered him too much to throw it.

Seems to me we concede any game Tronsco enteres.

Shortstop is a pretty important position. If we trade Lexi without somebody at least as good as Lexi, wow, we are going to be a really really bad team til that guy we drafted is ready. I would think we'd have to move Gordo to short cause second basemen are a dime a dozen. Shortstop is pretty important. I've been in favor of keeping Lexi, Beckham and Viciedo and trading all other position players. Also keep all the pitchers except Crain/Thornton/Peavy.

Give us the address and date and time and you may see some 'Wedding Crashers' at your wedding if it's in Vegas. Does the heat affect summertime wedding planning in Vegas? I would think wearing black on a 115-degree day would bother some.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 09:24 PM) It is bad luck but anyone who really thinks 2 months of Jesse Crain is going to get you a huge piece of your future is in la la land. If these players were as valuable as some believe, there is no way the Sox would be in last place. I agree 100 percent. Now, however, when we do trade Crain for scraps, everybody will say it's simply because of the injury. I think we get cash considerations and a player to be named later for him. Or some minor league fringe prospect. We're talking 2 months of Jesse Crain for goshsakes.

QUOTE (Tex @ Jun 27, 2013 -> 09:42 PM) I was at a wedding where an hour into the reception a bridesmaid announced to her husband that she wanted a divorce. Two hours in she announced she was moving in with a close female friend and they were in love. Three hours in the bride started throwing punches at her for ruining the wedding and taking center stage. Best damn wedding I have ever been to. That.Is.Awesome. Did this really happen? QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 29, 2013 -> 01:11 AM) That might have been my favorite track on Ready to Die. Luckily as a 12 year old I was smart enough to realize it was just entertainment. Your last sentence made me smile. Awesome line. Great post. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 2, 2013 -> 11:10 AM) I've seen 3 of my buddies get married and they all tell me the same about planning. How much of a pain in the ass it is and how their input doesn't matter, yada yada yada. My dream is to just elope, but don't tell my mom that. She'd disown me if I didn't get married in a church, despite me not going to church for the past 8 years. Another great post. I have a friend whose mom threatened to skip his wedding because it wasn't a traditional Mass. I think they finally gave into her which is dumb. Even we Cathlics have a shortened version of a wedding which is fine. I skipped church for about an eight year period as well, but returned as I find community worship inspiring. Like there may actually be hope to our selfish world. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jul 2, 2013 -> 01:19 PM) Yup, and even then, you can have great food without blowing ridiculous amounts of money. Banquet hall wedding food hasn't been that great in my experience, anyway. One of my friends did a similar setup to what we did, a destination wedding with a handful of people and then a big backyard reception. They had a pig roast as they were doing a luau-themed party. Better than $50/plate lemon fish or chicken. I love food at pig roasts. Damn it's good. The bbq platter you described for $25 a plate sounds delicious. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 02:31 PM) The tuxes were rent 5 get the sixth one free. Between myself, the groomsmen(7), the dads(2), and the ushers(2) I actually had enough to get 2 free tuxes. Seven groomsman and two ushers? Lot of relatives or did you have a lot of frat friends to go with a couple childhood friends?

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 04:49 PM) The Orioles traded Koji Uehara to the Rangers too. Got some dude named Chris Davis in return. Those guys all had an additional year, but teams will give up good prospects for good relievers. Even good relievers who are about to become free agents?

QUOTE (Bighurt52235 @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 03:18 AM) After reading through the thread, I would like to clarify that the reason I stopped coming to this site is because it seems the majoriity of people would rather s*** on my baseball team than enjoy their successes (although they're fewer and farther between now). I'd like to come here and "whoop and holler" about Dunn's f***ing bomb tonight with others, but instead I constantly have to read what trash people think he is. I know he's hitting .200, but he's our guy and he's here, and dammit he hit that ball a long way. I've loved every guy but two that have put on this uniform since 1997 when I began watching. Those two guys, Jose Paniagua, for obvious reasons, and for some reason that I don't remember, Scott Schoeneweis. Hell, I even grew that stupid stripe on my chin for Billy Koch when I was 16. Point is, this was a place where I would come to share the intense passion and love I have for the Chicago White Sox, and the last few years its become a place to read people s***ting on what I love. Not too appealling. Other than elrockinMT, of course. That guy has cracked me up for years. And I mean that in the nicest way. Great post. It's fun to root for the Sox, I wish I could celebrate with you, but the crazy s*** the team has pulled the past 3-4 seasons has been almost too much to bear. I know I should enjoy Dunn's bomb tonight but he's so bad most of the time that it's tough to forget that. I hate to be that guy who ruins it for everybody but it's really hard to root for this team because of the insane ways it loses games. -
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 05:06 AM) I've posted it in the Adam Dunn thread . But yes he's been much better. And Orioles DH's haven't been so good either. Also hold your breathe for this according to CSN : After the game, Ventura said reliever Jesse Crain didn't pitch in the eighth inning because of tightness in his right shoulder. I'm telling you, Crain is not going to bring much at all. He's in his last year of a contract and yes, he does get hurt, and he's aging. What is everybody realistically expecting? I'd say one average prospect and cash. Kudos to Dunn for that month just completed. He does deserve credit. But any team trading for him also is getting Mr. Whiff. Dunn suddenly is not going to be great.A team should not risk much for him.

QUOTE (Wanne @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 04:48 AM) Good God...dude's hitting .325 and it's not good enough...now they want homers too. Would you rather go back to hitting .220 and slapping a few homers every now and then? That's why I said in the 2 spot... I don't think he'll hit with power with the new stance, which is fine. Bat him second the next 10 years IF he can remain this productive in the crouch. -

Mercy. A victory. Time to win about 13 more in a row before anybody can get excited. -

QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 03:24 AM) I like this Gordon Beckham fellow who's batting .325. Does it look to you like he's had a different crouched batting stance since his return? And he's kept the same stance? Beckham may be one of the rare position players I'd like to keep. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 3, 2013 -> 02:59 AM) Buck caught sleeping there? Why would you pitch to him with base open with PK on deck? Not to be a smart aleck, but this is Adam Dunn we're talking about. Why pitch around him in any circumstance despite his nice total of bombs? -

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 2, 2013 -> 08:02 PM) MLB ✔ @MLB Jim Thome (612 career HRs) joins @WhiteSox as special assistant to senior VP/GM Rick Hahn Thome needs to be blunt and tell Hahn which players are either hopeless or blah. I think players who must NOT be on this team next year are: Flowers, the backup catcher I forget his name, Morel, Gillaspie (he can return in a Lilly role if he must), Konerko, DeAza, Rios, Dunn. Tank and Beckham and Lexi can stay one more year. Also those who must go: Thornton. -
Any team that can lose 4 straight to CLEVELAND in one's home ballpark (not to mention going 0-3 against the Cubs) has told the world its season is over. No miracle comebacks this year.
