  1. Sox are talking too much about culture. Who cares if the team had a bunch of bad-chemistry guys last year? Nobody seemed to care that we let Abreu go and he was Mr. Culture. Like somebody said here: Sox get no-hit Maldonado partly for culture and he loafed running out a grounder in Game One. You can't make this stuff up. ... This team culture stuff is stupid. You win big and ballplayers will be alert and pay attention. Once the losses start piling up, who cares if Maldo has a team meeting. Who cares if Lopez and his .190 average turns over the food table or breaks a helmet? Geez. Just.Win.Baby
  2. I'd take Massey, the pride of Brother Rice. But not Nape's Nicky. Nicky is no good IMO. Massey has potential.
  3. Under. Sox have bad luck. Too bad they still don't play divisional foes 19 times. The non divisional teams will mash the Sox.
  4. The Sox should do what the Royals did with Witt, play Montgomery every single day. Give him a day off every two weeks. Look, this team is going nowhere. The guy is 22. No pressure on him. Just play him. What good is playing DeJong for gawd sakes. Montgomery could hit .111 and I'd be OK with it.
  5. Instead of those three ... you come up with a good idea. How bout we sign Ozzie to play short, Ozzie Smith to play second and Carlton Fisk to catch? People might pay to see those guys hit only about the same as those 3.
  6. Remember all those years the Orioles stunk? All these seasons the Royals stunk/stink? Spring training is hope eternal for many franchises like the Sox. By the end of the first week of May all hope will be lost. It happens yearly and our Sox are now one of these franchises. Lopez, DeJong, and Maldonado?? One long LOL.
  7. This is just infuriating. These 3 hitters, 1/3 of the Sox batting order are horrific. Anybody who pays to see this mess of a team IMO is in for a borefest at GRate Field.
  8. The name Bailey Horn reminds me of George Bailey.
  9. Good stuff. I definitely appreciate the likes of Hansen, Pete Ward, Walt Williams, Dave Nicholson, Peters, Horlen, all those guys.
  10. In a 15-season career, Hansen was a .234 hitter with 106 home runs and 501 RBI in 1384 games. He did have an unassisted triple play.
  11. DeJong and Maldonado and Lopez are the polar opposite of all stars. Look I'd think analytics would tell us any lineup with 3/9s consisting of those three would be guaranteed to be anemic. Then u look at the carnage following our injuries, the replacements when Robert, Moncada and Eloy get hurt, wow.
  12. Very sad the Marlins have Burger and TA as their left side. Moncada doesn't thrill me mostly cause he gets hurt too much and DeJong makes me so upset. Why him? Geez.
  13. bobby knopp couldn't hit a lick. he was like ron hansen in that regard.
  14. At the risk of being an annoying broken record, the combo of DeJong and Lopez is by far the worst in baseball and maybe Sox history (maybe Luis Alvarado and Bobby Knoop was worst).
  15. Should be interesting if the TV stations and print outlets pretty much stop covering the Sox this year. Sure it's MLB but if the Sox start 10-30 and there's very little interest, these outlets might just decrease coverage of the Sox, especially on the road.
  16. That would be great if you were right. Our lineup last year looked just the same on paper. Of the six you listed, three are injury prone. Lot of strikeouts coming in that group. Then catcher, Lopez, the new inept hitting shortstop are automatic outs. Yikes.
  17. I would love for somebody to briefly write me five reasons this Sox team will "start winning." What the Sox did in terms of roster this offseason is flat out pathetic. Thanks, Jerry and Co. for trying to improve this team. My gosh. I'd say the tank is on, which it is, but tanking is ridiculous in baseball. There are no Victor's out there who are can't miss in baseball.
  18. This might be the curse of firing a playoff manager. This team is gonna lose a lot.
  19. You'd think she'd make more NIL money at Iowa than heading to the WNBA. Even with Clark, the WNBA won't draw. People don't want it. They want the dunk.
  20. I hear you. I wish the Sox brought him back one year 7 mill. I mean cmon, our 2B, SS combo will be the weakest hitting in all of baseball. True, TA was no good last year, but at least I've heard of him. I hope he does well in Miami.
  21. I called a die hard Sox fan last night to see his state of mind. I mean a DIE HARD fan. He got fired from his job for going to a Sox playoff game one year. His boss said you must work; he said (bleep) you. Anyhow, he said he will go to no games. He has no interest in watching on TV or mlb.com. He said he's already looking forward to doing other things during the 3 hrs of a White Sox game. Unless somehow they win (this team is not gonna win) attendance will be ridiculously low.
  22. Good thread. For me I'm mad at myself for being so negative, but the entire LaRussa era has been one gigantic mistake.
  23. Good post. Now I expect to lose. The Sox result doesn't affect my day at all except a moment of shaking my head and laughing. ... Have I missed it or has any writer tackled the issue of Sox hammy injuries and what team has done to improve in that area?
  24. True. That's why my anger/disinterest is interesting (to me). I've been a Sox fan forever, for decades. I feel like if I have lost total interest, there 'have' to be many others like me. I have to be considered a real fan. I know the Sox inside and out history wise. From Peters and Horlen to Nahorodny to Karkovice to Garr to Alan Bannister to Wood, Big Hurt, Oz, Robin, Chet L. I know 'em all. This is the first year in my life I've turned on the team. Depressing.
  25. I'd like an alt team as well. My plan is to follow the Sox and Cubs both because of the word 'Chicago.' I can never be a Cub fan but I could possibly learn to follow them and see what I think. I'm that down on Jerry and this club. This was a good optimistic post but I personally see miserable pitching and a very inept lineup. Wonder where everybody thinks we'll be awesome on defense. 60-65 wins would be a good season with this talent. I've been a diehard Sox fan all my life. If I feel this way I can only imagine what a more casual Sox fan is thinking. For those people with a functioning brain (ones who only go to games in person if they have a great seat) I just can't believe they'll pay MLB prices for GOOD tix, parking and food/beer/soda to watch this team.
