  1. Good stuff. I definitely appreciate the likes of Hansen, Pete Ward, Walt Williams, Dave Nicholson, Peters, Horlen, all those guys.
  2. In a 15-season career, Hansen was a .234 hitter with 106 home runs and 501 RBI in 1384 games. He did have an unassisted triple play.
  3. DeJong and Maldonado and Lopez are the polar opposite of all stars. Look I'd think analytics would tell us any lineup with 3/9s consisting of those three would be guaranteed to be anemic. Then u look at the carnage following our injuries, the replacements when Robert, Moncada and Eloy get hurt, wow.
  4. Very sad the Marlins have Burger and TA as their left side. Moncada doesn't thrill me mostly cause he gets hurt too much and DeJong makes me so upset. Why him? Geez.
  5. bobby knopp couldn't hit a lick. he was like ron hansen in that regard.
  6. At the risk of being an annoying broken record, the combo of DeJong and Lopez is by far the worst in baseball and maybe Sox history (maybe Luis Alvarado and Bobby Knoop was worst).
  7. Should be interesting if the TV stations and print outlets pretty much stop covering the Sox this year. Sure it's MLB but if the Sox start 10-30 and there's very little interest, these outlets might just decrease coverage of the Sox, especially on the road.
  8. That would be great if you were right. Our lineup last year looked just the same on paper. Of the six you listed, three are injury prone. Lot of strikeouts coming in that group. Then catcher, Lopez, the new inept hitting shortstop are automatic outs. Yikes.
  9. I would love for somebody to briefly write me five reasons this Sox team will "start winning." What the Sox did in terms of roster this offseason is flat out pathetic. Thanks, Jerry and Co. for trying to improve this team. My gosh. I'd say the tank is on, which it is, but tanking is ridiculous in baseball. There are no Victor's out there who are can't miss in baseball.
  10. This might be the curse of firing a playoff manager. This team is gonna lose a lot.
  11. You'd think she'd make more NIL money at Iowa than heading to the WNBA. Even with Clark, the WNBA won't draw. People don't want it. They want the dunk.
  12. I hear you. I wish the Sox brought him back one year 7 mill. I mean cmon, our 2B, SS combo will be the weakest hitting in all of baseball. True, TA was no good last year, but at least I've heard of him. I hope he does well in Miami.
  13. I called a die hard Sox fan last night to see his state of mind. I mean a DIE HARD fan. He got fired from his job for going to a Sox playoff game one year. His boss said you must work; he said (bleep) you. Anyhow, he said he will go to no games. He has no interest in watching on TV or mlb.com. He said he's already looking forward to doing other things during the 3 hrs of a White Sox game. Unless somehow they win (this team is not gonna win) attendance will be ridiculously low.
  14. Good thread. For me I'm mad at myself for being so negative, but the entire LaRussa era has been one gigantic mistake.
  15. Good post. Now I expect to lose. The Sox result doesn't affect my day at all except a moment of shaking my head and laughing. ... Have I missed it or has any writer tackled the issue of Sox hammy injuries and what team has done to improve in that area?
  16. True. That's why my anger/disinterest is interesting (to me). I've been a Sox fan forever, for decades. I feel like if I have lost total interest, there 'have' to be many others like me. I have to be considered a real fan. I know the Sox inside and out history wise. From Peters and Horlen to Nahorodny to Karkovice to Garr to Alan Bannister to Wood, Big Hurt, Oz, Robin, Chet L. I know 'em all. This is the first year in my life I've turned on the team. Depressing.
  17. I'd like an alt team as well. My plan is to follow the Sox and Cubs both because of the word 'Chicago.' I can never be a Cub fan but I could possibly learn to follow them and see what I think. I'm that down on Jerry and this club. This was a good optimistic post but I personally see miserable pitching and a very inept lineup. Wonder where everybody thinks we'll be awesome on defense. 60-65 wins would be a good season with this talent. I've been a diehard Sox fan all my life. If I feel this way I can only imagine what a more casual Sox fan is thinking. For those people with a functioning brain (ones who only go to games in person if they have a great seat) I just can't believe they'll pay MLB prices for GOOD tix, parking and food/beer/soda to watch this team.
  18. I think the team will move this time. People aren't going to vote in a tax for this stadium. It's a new era. Chicago still has the Bears, Cubs, Bulls and Hawks. This poorly run organization I feel will move this time unless they accept the fact GRate is their field for a long time to come.
  19. It seems like many time when the Sox hitters hustle down the line on grounders they wind up with a hammy or a groin strain. Wonder if the Sox can correct that finally. Somebody's always pulling up it seems.
  20. Isn't Hosmer a free agent too? Hilarious if Sox sign him then trade for Salvy.
  21. Can Moustakas play second? I'd rather have him there than Naperville's finest. I'm depressed about ss. DeJong bothers me. And catcher is one huge LOL. And I'd rather give 500 at bats in rf to Colas than the short guy we just aquired.
  22. When will this new stadium be open?
  23. I don't know why you guys think Sox defense will be good. Lopez is done, finished. DeJong? My gawd. How depressing. Beni no arm. That guy in right? He's 5 foot 6 or something. Catcher? Oldie not a goodie. Seems to me the weak 7 thru 9 part of the lineup, the bullpen, we have enough areas of concern that will cause the Sox to lose a vast majority of games, even the games they somehow keep it close.
  24. I agree. First glance suggests, hmmm, not too bad. Good post DA. Sad to have automatic outs though in Lopez, Dejong and Maldo.
  25. I think RR was a smart proven likeable baseball guy. He should never have gotten axed for bad managing in the playoffs. RR big picture was a solid manager. I think Oz has a chance to be interim this year when Pedro is the fall guy for another bad season. Nothing to lose making Oz interim after say a 10-30 start.
