  1. Good point milk. I went to step two instead of the final divorce from the entire game. One day it dawned on me because of the Sox purposely fielding such a crap team to rip off me the fan, I could look to another team in Chicago. And one 40 miles from me here. Not actively crazily root for them but to follow their fortunes. And I'll monitor the Sox closely but never ever tune into a game, just highlights after games. But I agree when u say u are not the only person prepared to stop watching MLB completely,
  2. Quite a creative take. You on hallucinogens tonight? Kidding.
  3. I can't understand why anybody baseball savvy doesn't switch their allegiances now. The roster! The roster! It is so obvious it's the worst roster in Sox history. You can't follow this team when those in charge have gutted the franchise. It's time. To leave.
  4. I appreciate that. I used to be that way. Can't anymore. This team is an insult to me personally. I can see Getz and Jerry laughing at me as they count the TV contract dollars.
  5. Mmmmmbeer ... you should give in and follow the Braves. I am a diehard Sox fan for many many years. I finally gave up. I'm trying to follow the Cubs and Royals a bit. I did not purchase MLB.com finally. I just knew looking at our roster this was an INSULT to me personally as a fan. So I'll be like most fans in the USA, fair weather. If Sox get good again I'll be back; not til then. I'll only check the boxes and the free mlb.com summaries while trying to learn about the Cubs/Royals. It's time to throw in the towel mmmmmbeer and root for those Braves more.
  6. I was in my car and turned Sirius to the game. The Guardians announcer is from Milwaukee and he was talking about the Sox start in 1968, the 0-10. It was very interesting (score was 4-0 and he had to kill time I guess knowing Sox were not gonna score four runs). He pointed out Melton was a rookie. Pete Ward led the team with 15 home runs. Horlen and Peters were on the team. I think he said Peters was 4-13. He said Aparicio was still there and he said Wilber Wood as a reliever went 11-12. The other announcer was shocked the Sox were so bad that year with some decent players. The Sox had three managers in 68 I guess and the announcers joked: "You know you had a bad season (95 losses) when you had three managers." They yukked it up. The announcer pointed out the Sox played games in Milwaukee that season cause Milw. had lost its team and it was a way to draw some fans. He said he got to see Mickey Mantle play against the Sox in Milwaukee. My gawd this Sox team is lousy. Seriously anybody who supports this team by buying tickets is really a loonie bird. Cmon folks, do something this summer with your time. No reason to pay money to this franchise. They truly have a responsibility to field a competitive club and White Sox management has refused to do that. I'd be all for the league canceling all our games for a year or two. Or just removing our team completely from MLB.
  7. I would think Robert and Eloy are dead to the baseball world outside Chicago right now. They are non factors cause they get hurt so much. Teams will not want either of those guys cause of injuries now and in the future. Except for the piles of money they make it must suck being Robert and Eloy. All they do is get hurt then have to rehab. Man all that rehab time. Must be so boring. Day after day rehab. Then get the injury fixed and after a week have to start over in rehab again after getting reinjured.
  8. A conspirary theorist would say this proves Oz has learned to watch what he says. Lying is a sports figure's best friend. If he says he wants to manage it's bold headline stuff.
  9. I'm just saying there's nothing to lose anymore regarding hiring Ozzie. He can hold down the fort the rest of the season. I doubt he'd want much money? Double what he's making as TV analyst. Let Oz hire some kind of bench coach to share some of the media duties. We just need a body in the manager's chair right now to get us through the season. Ozzie would have no reason to be a distraction as he knows, everybody knows this team isn't capable of winning 60 max, more like 40-50 max games.
  10. You know what? It's very very difficult to go 0-4 in a four-game series. To a team like the Royals it's unacceptable. He should be fired NOW (with the condition we do realize he had nothing to work with, but still. I'd like to see how often the Sox have been swept in four-game series in the last 30 years, but not counting the last four years when the team has given up. I would suggest once or twice in 30 year span?? That means FIRE HIM NOW. Let Ozzie manage these old stiffs! Seriously. Give Ozzie the team NOW. Why the hell not?
  11. How bout a greg appreciation day this fine Sunday? I rarely do I told you sos. But my offseason schtick has been one aspect of the game will always cost us the W. If we get a well pitched start, we can and will blow it with our horrific pen. If we lead in the ninth, we won't be able to close. And days we get good pitching and D all around we'll lose cause we can't hit that day. Sox are not built for modern baseball. We can't win the game(s) within the game. Too weak in too many areas means 40-50 wins IMO.
  12. Save this post. Yes Moncada figures to get hurt and our hearts will break if and when Crochet goes down.
  13. He deserves praise. He's good.
  14. What is a campfire shake? Could it battle Italian Beef and Chicago dogs and pizza for a fave type food known only to Chicago? What are the ingredients. Would u prefer a shake or a beer?
  15. I beg to disagree. To be honest there's nothing positive to talk about here. Take a look at that lineup. Not one person is worth discussing in a positive manner except the delightful Crochet. That's it. Aside from shutting down the board, this team deserves only negativity right now, unless we start tracking our minor league studs with threads of their own. As longstanding board members will attest, greg has been a Sox supporter forever. Trust me if there was something positive to say I'd say it. I'd love to read an essay tackling the issue of whether this team could win if it played AAA teams instead of MLB.
  16. To be fair, I had a positive post the other day. I'm too lazy to look it up. Oh yeah I was wondering if Shoemake might be a surprise in a positive way.
  17. It was funny listening to the Royals postgame in my car. The fans were all excited about being 5-4. No mention, none, of how bad the White Sox are. You know, the Sox have turned the seasons of Central Division teams around a lot during the past many years of suck. Sox get KC well ... again. That said ... it's interesting how this pathetic lineup is hitting about what we all expected. Typical Sox. No surprises. Everybody's hitting poorly just as we thought. I know I know. Robert and Eloy are out.
  18. I'd actually be OK with them removing the White Sox from the league for 2 seasons and make them an expansion team with new ownership. This organization has what, Montgomery, and Crochet and nothing else? Can't count Robert anymore. He's just another guy who can't be healthy.
  19. Not a bad idea. AJP would be good and in your scenario he gets to learn how to manage half a season. Also we make Tony watch this bad ballclub in action. It's almost torture to submit anybody to watch this team play baseball. Tony would be in baseball hell making out the lineup card for this monumentally awful club.
  20. It's like the Sox are trolling the fans daring them to buy tickets to come see wretched old guys play. It's a fireable offense (Getz) just putting together a team with the 7, 8, 9 hitters we have.
  21. Seriously. Am I the only one who thinks this is a team that should be fined for not being MLB caliber? Anybody agree with greg that this is not a big league club? That our Sox would not even contend for a minor league title? Especially with no Eloy and Robert.
  22. How can this keep happening? One week into the season and Eloy and Robert are both hurt. Can you imagine being a player or coach on this team? How can you even pretend you have a chance to win when you take the field? p.s. Can you believe how bad a hitter Beni is?
  23. My experiment of trying to follow the Cubs is working. Suzuki is a good hitter. That guy with the wild name homered today. Hell, might as well follow the Cubs as we have just one MLB team in town right now. Nobody can tell me this White Sox team is big-league caliber. Like I said the commissioner should fine the White Sox heavily for putting this product out there. It's almost impossible to create a team this flawed.
  24. Just saw that Robert got hurt. You can't make this stuff up. Everything we fans thought would happen (no offense injuries) has happened in the first week. This is insane.
  25. Oh boy, four hits. Sox offense is as bad as we all knew it would be. This team will be lucky to win 15-20 games on the road this season.
