  1. I'm done with Moncada as a fan. Wish they'd let him do a minor league 3-game rehab then when teams see he's OK trade him for ice cubes. Get rid of him please.
  2. I really think the Sox have a chance to keep winning at a .460 clip if Clevinger does his job and they let Crochet pitch well into the season. Again, why can't Getz continue this. It's obvious if we got rid of some of the obvious stiffs and kept bringing up guys we'd have a chance. Lopez, Maldy, maybe even Beni should be jettisoned and we need to add a very good starter from somewhere. I know just these few additions have taken the Sox out of the lose 9 of every 10 category. Pham deserves a raise already. Finally the winner we've needed on the field and apparently in the locker room. And our YOUNG new 3Bman? A breath of fresh air. Yes we could lose 16 of 17 again but I wish Getz would go for the throat and make a few more moves that help the team.
  3. Let's face it. With Pham, Ramos, Lee as starters let's face it, naysayers like me were wrong. This is now a .460 type team. Should we all declare Getz a budding star? Even the guy I hated on, DeJong, is hitterish right now. Eloy hasn't gotten hurt in a bit and also is not disgusting anymore. Could he be gulp, improving? This Ramos guy suddenly makes our injured third baseman immediately expendable. Get rid of Moncada soon as u can. If the Sox could dump dead weight Lopez, Maldy and get them out of sight out of mind, mabe we can start showing real progress. And maybe we have good coaching staff. Our pitchers have not been miserable of late. Is somebody actually doing a good job with our starters and pen? Am I a primma donna or are the Sox suddenly a .460 to .480 team? Love. me some Ramos. Love hitterish guys. p.s. The Sox are getting close to being watchable. Will greg buy mlb.com? Not yet baby. I still don't believe.
  4. You said: "I don't want to get anyone too excited, but I think this team might just be putrid, and not worst of all time." I said: Agreed. Getz actually has made a couple of moves that have vaulted the Sox into mere lousiness but no longer all-time lousiness. Only way we remain in the race for all-time patheticness is if the bullpen turns to complete crud instead of being acceptable some nights. And if Eloy gets hurt and is out a long time. Sox's next step should be to find a way to get rid of Lopez and Maldy. Good move shedding Grossman.
  5. It's pretty sad when we have to write off next season as being as bad as this one and "maybe" in 2026 the Sox will be a .500 team or better. I still don't see how it's a good business decision to be a non factor from April to October 2024 then be a non factor all offseason and again a non factor the entire 2025 campaign. Sox are lucky baseball is different from real-life businesses or the team would go broke and simply close its doors.
  6. We should have a thread just following that trade in the future. If Thorpe and Iriarte are great, then that's big time. But I was trying to point out how it doesn't take much to contend as the Twins prove every year. Cease and Crochet are two pretty good starters with other ones who were available if Jerry would spend a few dollars. I don't care either way I just want to win and all these sub .500 seasons are dismaying.
  7. Pham and Ramos baby. Pham is meant to be a White Sox just like Zisk in 77.
  8. I haven't studied the deal. Did the Sox get any can't miss stars in the Cease deal? Cause he, Crochet and Clevinger plus Lynn who we coulda signed for pennies would have actually been a decent rotation. It doesn't take much to contend and the Sox with their moves almost don't ever want to contend again. Disgraceful team.
  9. I hope Burger has a good 5-6 years. Mainly cause I was so wrong about him. I hated the pick in the draft mainly cause he's only a DH. His defense reeks. But I love him and wish he was on the Sox hitting mabe 30 hrs.
  10. Glad to get rid of Grossman. Other than that, whatever.
  11. He'd look behind him and see Lopez and DeJong and say to himself, my gawd I can hit better than those two.
  12. You know at least Jerry unless he's incredibly stupid or shielded from negativity knows nobody gives a bleep about the 2005 title anymore. That is not his legacy in Chicago. His legacy is Michael Jordan and the Bulls (granted that's a feather for him) but also the woebegone Chicago White Sox. And the more our team loses the more he has to own his failure as a baseball owner. Yes Chicago fans will always be happy about the Bulls but his legacy now is mixed because of his totally gutting a franchise in MLB and pretty much disrespecting a sport and city by putting a Minor League team on the field.
  13. What a stinker. I'm not a fan of playing this Ortega guy. I'm a little surprised we've laid down and died for a lousy Rays team that we mauled in Chicago. Don't know if any of you saw Ozzie's little rant about how he's a Sox fan and after game one he was really depressed/ticked off. He agreed with his partner on the show there was no accountability.
  14. Does Burger remind u of Bob Horner?
  15. I'm not a Grossman fan. Should I be? ... Yikes I just saw Clevinger's line.
  16. I can't see him playing 3B or 2B obviously not short. That leaves 1B or DH for Mr. Burger. I think he's a DH. There's absolutely no position for Jake IMO. Could he be an acceptable first baseman? I have no idea but I'd think not by eye test only.
  17. Wow. Sox play the Rays again. Rays are another wretched team. Sox might keep winning for a while. I won't jinx the team by saying 'Bet.The.House." however you could bet the tractor at least.
  18. I'll stop being 'quiet' about Burger. He actually has 15 RBIs which is darn good for the amount of at bats. And I've read some stories from Miami for when he got hurt. The skipper was dejected. He was all about Jake Burger. Don't forget the RBIs and don't forget how it's just April. It used to take my fave, Abreu, forever to get going. Long live Burger!
  19. Is Jake kind of a free spirit? I get the vibe of a fun loving Babe Ruth-ish type personality where he'd love a good hot dog in about the 7th inning. He just seems Curley-esque to me. Maybe we can get him back on the cheap.
  20. How come only 57 at bats for Jake? He does have 15 RBI which would be a high amount on the Sox.
  21. Agreed. But my point was supposed to be that Sox have actually been merely a bad team since the arrival of Pham and Mendick. Think about how it would not have taken that much over the last winter as long as they spent just a few bucks to at least acquire a handful of players that could make the squad merely bad, not embarrassingly bad. Inexcusable. And if the Sox flip everybody like Lip Man said then we're probably guaranteed another 6-22 start next season. Surprised the commish doesn't contract the Sox.
  22. This is why I don't like tanking and rebuilding and flipping players and all that. This team will show us (for a while) how easy it is to be mediocre in baseball. The Sox as I said before IMO are two good relievers and two more everyday players (in lineup) from being a .440 to .460 type team. Without even trying you can get there. So you flip Pham and Mendick and Crochet and Clevinger and Kopech etc and u are back to historically bad team with "hopes" the prospects that you acquired are good MLB players in 3 years. To that I throw up my hands and say 'ugh.' And to that I continue to not buy mlb.com and not watch a single game of this woebegone franchise.
  23. It's amazing how if you acquire just a few players worthy of being on an MLB roster it can improve the team. Pham and Mendick were godsends although I realize Mendick is hurt. Crochet is legit. With Clevinger coming Sox are just 1-2 regulars (in the lineup) and 1-2 relievers from being merely a bad team, not historically bad. Lousy bullpen and need for two more good hitters on an everyday basis will keep the Sox over 100 losses but again, the addition of Pham and Mendick and coming up, Clevinger, make the Sox merely a rotten team, not a gawd-awful historically bad club. Shows you if Getz actually would have done something in December and January we might not be THIS miserable a squd. Peace out. p.s. Ramos might be hitterish too.
  24. I have a hobby of counting all the SUV's in parking lots at airports and on the road when driving. And I chuckle driving around Lawrence and counting the number of charging stations we have (a handful at best) and then marvel at how our many gas stations are ALWAYS packed. Me thinks spoiled peeps are not gonna react well to the EV demands.
  25. Good way to describe it, but I don't feel like I wasted 90 minutes. I sort of enjoyed it. Melissa McCarthy is so damn funny. It seems like she's ad-libbing a lot but who knows? Her delivery is damn funny. Two questions: 1.) Now that I have netflix any suggestions? I am thinking of watching the Robert Downey movie The Judge. Should I watch it? Also I am a big fan of the Planet of the Apes series. Is the one that comes out May 10 worth seeing? Is it true this one is Disney? Is it expected to be lousy or good? I thoroughly enjoyed the past 3. Is this Apes movie gonna be Disney woke or something or should I be excited to see it like I was the others? Thanks and peace out,
