Sox vs Twins 5/22 game thread 7:10 first pitch
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 23, 2012 -> 02:19 AM) Tonight's a night that makes me glad I no longer buy tickets to every home game. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ May 23, 2012 -> 02:48 AM) We got ourselves a few winners, the way it was typed should have showed that....like I told greg (to which he never replied after being so adamant in his case that he is garbage) outside of his game against the cubs hes given up just 3 earned runs in 16+ innings. Thats pretty damn good for the first guy out of the pen. 1.) Sounds like a lot of fans are sick of getting burned by the Sox play at home the past couple seasons -- way too many horrific games that could not be fun to attend. Those awful shutout losses and games like tonight snowball in the minds of the consumer. How much does it cost to park again, Jerry? People aren't f***ing stupid. Unless the team starts playing reasonably well (a few games over .500 too much to ask?) nobody will go buy a five dollar hotdog (how much are dogs these days anyway; i estimated?) Minor league baseball, baby. Cheaper prices, beer just as good. 2.) I had a comment to you that the games I saw on mlb.com Zach sucked. But I backed off when several posters pointed out he's been good. Truly horrible game tonight, typical of the Sox overall play in the Cell. Sox and KC both can't win at home.

DUI troubles in Las Vegas
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ May 22, 2012 -> 11:54 PM) He needs an attorney to try and resolve this. Its impossible to tell whats going on because I have no record of the 2 previous DUI's. Where they settled, are they open, was their a verdict? These answers could all definitely impact this matter. Regardless 3 DUI's is at a level where an attorney is probably mandatory to work out a deal. And he may even need 2 attorneys, 1 in NV and 1 in KS. It all just depends on what has already happened. Thanks badger. I know on his Vegas DUI he lost his license 6 months and he had no jail time and no community service. And in that case, they did not know about the DUI in Kansas City for some reason. If you were representing a client with let's say, one previous DUI (two total), in Chicago, what do you think would be a reasonable outcome that you could get your client? Considering nobody was injured, etc. Would the police use the fact the person was sleeping in a moving vehicle in the hearing?

DUI troubles in Las Vegas
I'll make this brief. A friend of mine got his third DUI in the past four years in Vegas a couple weeks ago. He got one in Kansas City, one in Vegas two years ago to go with this one. His court date is in August; he has no attorney yet. He was caught SLEEPING at a red light in his car and I don't know what his blood totals were. He has not received the results. I told him to call an attorney NOW. I told him his license actually might already be suspended as I believe DMZ does not have to tell you it's been suspended. It's your responsibility to find out. My question to u is (perhaps you have gotten DUI or know people who had multiple DUIs) ... 1.) Will judge find out about the DUI in Kansas City? Or will that one remain separate? 2.) Does the fact he was sleeping at stoplight matter in his case? That seems pretty serious/dangerous. 3.) With 2 DUIs, will he serve jail time? 4.) Are there any circumstances you still get to drive your car for a year when license is suspended? 5.) Can an awesome attorney get him off scot free? And on a personal level, do you think he is an irresponsible asshole for doing this repeatedly? Or do you think people make mistakes? THANK YOU for any advice you can give. He's 28 years old and the Vegas cops had his mom bail him out of jail; I don't know how they got her number back in Kansas, etc.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 22, 2012 -> 11:26 PM) If you replace the word "GM" with "Ozzie", you have the exact response we have to 75% of your posts. Not really because I also applaud Kenny for 2005. I did want Ozzie to win the man-man standoff between he and Kenny. I've already congratulated Kenny supporters for winning that battle. It was an epic battle and Kenny won.

It must be said - Hawk Harrelson has to go
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 22, 2012 -> 09:58 PM) With MLB.TV on the PS3, I get to hear a lot of announcers. It's like a breath of fresh air, listening to people who are younger than 100 years old talk about the game and reference players from the 90s, and have conversations that engage me that I haven't heard a million times before - Hawk doesn't do this. Hawk's schtick - I am finally tired of it. You could just have a Hawkbot at this point and really have no idea he wasn't actually there. Cue up his catch phrases and have someone record player names in his voice. As for Stone, I think he's brilliant, and with the right sportscaster he can be great, but with Hawk it just doesn't work. The reason is simple - no one with Hawk will work. He always turns it into a dick measuring contest, cuts the other broadcaster off, and winds up telling me about some garbage player from the Red Sox in the late 60s. The tv feed needs a breath of fresh air, and someone who went to broadcasting school, a real broadcaster, doing the play by play, and then save the homerism and the baseball references for a guy like Frank Thomas to be the color analyst. I have spent my entire lifetime listening to Hawk. I have laughed at his calls for years. I have yelled "HE GAWN" "STRETCH" "HEEYEEESSS" "DAT GUMMIT" "YOU GOTTA BE BLEEPIN' ME" - I have enjoyed it. (not so much the "HELL YEAH" though) I am so f***ing ready for it to end and to finally have an on screen duo that entertains me. Let the flaming begin. I don't know what to tell you if you think the other teams' broadcasts are better than Hawk. If you want plastic announcers, go for it. Hawk is amazingly good. I love he and Stone together. I really enjoy watching the games on mlb.com and listening to the Hawk/Stone duo.

QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ May 22, 2012 -> 09:39 PM) I was curious to see what your remarks were going to be and now I am 100% convinced you are a troll. You MIGHT be a White Sox fan, but no one is as big a fool as many of your posts indicate. I've had you on ignore for a long time now and don't miss your schtick one bit. I can assure you I am not a "fool." So you are "curious" what my response would be? I think if you were curious, then that makes me a good poster on here because you were interested in what I might say. Thank you for the compliment. p.s. Quinary already said his brother shares my opinions on a lot of Ozzie related matters so I am not alone, sir.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 22, 2012 -> 07:52 PM) Why isn't this the SoxTalk banner yet? No offense but you probably should put in the corner a disclaimer "parody of greg775" cause to the average person this would seem like a mockery of Paulie and other "never forget" efforts. just saying.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 22, 2012 -> 07:55 PM) and this right here is why the bait continues to be passed back and forth. For every fan of the White Sox, this IS a big f***ing deal Not every fan, cause you have to admit I am a fan. And I don't care. The season was over. Didn't Cooper manage the games? It was prolly good to give him a couple considering his ego. If it was Cora, my bad.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 22, 2012 -> 03:31 PM) The funny thing is how much more focused the Sox appeared to be Saturday/Sunday after the incident on Friday. Assuming Konerko suffers no lasting effects, the events on Friday could be a huge turning point for the team this year. No offense, but generally the Sox do get pretty fired up for the Cub games IMO. I don't get how many of you (not directed at fathom) are not upset Paulie got beaned by that punk. I do think Samarj hit him on purpose. The guy has all the characteristics of a wild headhunter.

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ May 22, 2012 -> 11:28 AM) And unfortunately we take the bait that you dangle out there. Even if he was as good as you think (which he was not - he quit on the team), why keep praising him? He's the manager of the Marlins now. If you love Ozzie so much (more than the Sox it seems), be a Marlins fan. There's probably no one on this site that doesn't give Ozzie a ton of credit for 2005. He did a great job. But his last 2+ years in Chicago were bad. 2011 was horrible. And it took him absolutely no time to make an ass of himself in Miami. If he keeps it up, and the Marlins don't win a division title soon, he'll be looking for a job somewhere else. The Ozzie era (good and bad) is over in Chicago. I'll let it go if you do. I guess you don't believe me. I have let it go. I bring Ozzie up ONLY when I'm sick of reading a specific pot shot to Ozzie. I don't comment on every one but I'd say probably 75 percent of the time they piss me off and I do. I never just randomly bring up Ozzie or Pierre or Wise or Garland or Dye. I just respond. I don't understand the pile on mentality of Ozzie. Sox fans can't let it go. I am willing to let it go. p.s. Who cares if he quit on the team with two games left. He had another job offer and took it with the Sox going nowhere.

Sox sign Orlando Hudson
QUOTE (chw42 @ May 22, 2012 -> 03:41 PM) Vintage. Why is that vintage? People have mocked my style of posting before. I really don't care about numbers much. I do wish we had a third baseman with more pop than Hudson/Morel. It is true that Hudson isn't the answer. He's just another KW favorite we finally picked up. Are there any still out there? Teahen worked really well. I think we should have just given Lilly a chance to play every day. Hudson is blah.

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ May 22, 2012 -> 04:06 AM) So you barely ever say a good thing about the Sox and you believe Ozzie is a candidate for Coach of the year??? I'm now convinced youre one of Ozzies kids, Oney is that you? I love the Sox. I've praised Dunn and Peavy and Paulie and AJ a lot and Flowers. I just don't like what I've seen the last couple seasons and change. It has jaded me a bit and angered me a lot.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 22, 2012 -> 12:53 AM) Greg, I still think you're a troll, but this statement is so out there at least it made me chuckle. If I am a troll, then Fathom is a Cub fan. Neither is (are) the case.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 21, 2012 -> 02:01 PM) HOLY CRAP DUDE IT WASN'T ON PURPOSE. I think Samarj is crazy enough and cocky enough that in the heat of action he was headhunting. A lie detector test would prove it IMO.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 21, 2012 -> 04:37 PM) HOLY SH*T MOVE ON QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ May 21, 2012 -> 04:57 PM) Oh my god. Really? Ozzie...does not...have...anything...to do...with...the...White Sox...anymore! He made people smile, he was in your face, he was funny...I don't care. So if a guy gets employee of the month once, but his next few years he's chronically late, mouths off to supervisors, and generally makes an ass of himself, we should focus only on his plaque hanging in the hallway? To hell with that. I got dibs on his office. You guys don't get it. When Ozzie gets attacked I respond. When I get baited to comment on Ozzie, I comment. I love Ozzie. I still stand up for him and I take the bait that is dangled at me a lot. Get it?

2012 White Sox Catch-All thread
How come every year KW acquires a guy either he or Oz just had to have? Manny, Juan (who I liked, but...), Oldmar, Teahen, the various grinders like Kotsay? We always acquire a guy who is destined to be a Sox before he retires.

THIS IS REAL
QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ May 21, 2012 -> 07:50 AM) Its all in the post man. The soon to be 3-4-5 of Dunn-Paul-Dayan just might hit 100 HR between the 3. Hope so, but Sox have turned me into a "bad fan" for the time being at least. They have to prove it to me. Maybe if and when they are 5 over .500 at home I'll start to think we have a chance. Til then, I'll keep watching.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ May 21, 2012 -> 05:42 AM) No, he didn't. You're beyond baseball clueless. WHY THE f*** DIDN'T WE THROW AT EVERYONE TODAY, SHOULD HAVE GOT PEAVY OUT EARLY WE DIDN'T NEED TO WIN THE GAME, STAND UP FOR THE ORGANIZATION!!! Peavy fired one up tight on one Cub early. I thought he'd plunk one but frankly the Sox did such a nice job this weekend it probably would have been overkill in drilling a Cub today. Although I did want to see somebody pay for a senseless attack on Paulie. I agreed fully with the Sun Times article quoting Peavy. YOU DO NOT hit a legend in the face with a pitch. I kind of was hoping Peavy would have made something up to the media, like he dedicated the win to Paulie. Samarj did the right thing and was contrite in interviews but I wish the Sox would have blasted him publicly even more. Though what Peavy said was pretty good.

THIS IS REAL
QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ May 21, 2012 -> 06:36 AM) Ok so heres the deal, I'm SLIGHTLY intoxicated and I just finshed watching some dubbya dubbya E wrestling so I'm all hyped up. What none of know about me as you look past my posts of truths and sweep them under the rug like its nonsense is I am a former student of current WWE World Heavyweight Champ CM Punk (Along with Sexy Ace Steele and Colt Boom Boom Cabana) and as some of you guys may know they are some of the best in the world when it comes to shooting on an interview so Ive learned for the best. Ive had it up to here with you nay sayers and those of you that expect nothing of this team, this team that is our team, this team that we are here to root for not to constantly put down and give up on. I'm here to guide you all back to fandom and take down the nay sayers of the board one rebuttal at a time. Those of still out there that dont believe are blind, blind to the fact that this team previously stuck around .500 without a 2 hole hitter, THE Golden Boy on the south side of chicago Gordon "I'm no longer messing around" Beckham. You see this team also got nothing...NOTHING... out of a guy whos gonna show you that he most certainly IS worth that wait in The Tank Dayan "Chulo Baro" Viciedo. This ".500 team" just added an IMPACT middle of the lineup bat, and filled the black hole in the #2 spot of the lineup that they previously had in that .500 team. You see guys when a .500 team adds what very well could be a good #2 hitter and an impact middle of the order bat that team is no longer a .500 team. Dayan Viciedo is what Manny Ramirez was supposed to be, Gordon Beckham is gonna be what Gordon Beckham is supposed to be. If things go as planned the black hole that is Brent Morel will rid his ugly bat of this lineup and Orlando "The Spark Plug" Hudson will bring some sort of livelyhood, some sort of pulse to 9 hole. This man has 5 triples, which was good for the most in the NL, I'm not even sure Brent Morel has 5 hits this year. Jake Peavy is an ace again, Chris sale will be a good number 2, Gavin Floyd will be a good number 3, John Danks will be a good number 4, and our number 5 through a no hitter and was an all star just last year. When I look at that I see a damn good starting rotation. I see a rotation thats in the top 6 in quality starts, batting average against, WHIP. I see a rotation thats number 1 in complete games. I see a rotation that we should be proud of. The bullpen, well the bullpen if managed right, Robin, buddy I'm lookin at you brotha, this bullpen can be lights out! Robin, you have a deep enough bullpen to where you can use Will Ohman as strictly a LOOGY where he can be a key part of this pen. Everyone here is up in arms about how terrible Zach Stewart has been, first hes not, and second hes the first guy out of the pen, hes the mop up guy, hes the guy every team has that they can hide in the bullpen. Show me a team in baseball that doesnt have 1 guy in the pen that isnt a stud, you'll be hard pressed to do so. Matt Thornton and Jesse Crain have been consistently solid for the last 3 or 4 years, a rarity for a reliever who are mostly hit or miss from year to year. Hector Santiago outside his 2 blown saves has given up 2 runs in 13 innings. Nate Jones has been just about as rock solid has it gets. Those 2 are the future lefty righty set up men for one of the best young closers in the game Addison Reed. This is a new team, this is a team you can cheer for. THIS IS A COMPETING TEAM. THIS IS REAL. THIS IS WHITE SOX BASEBALL. Nice post, but this is what drives me crazy about the Sox. It does look like the Sox have a contender on paper. But the home record (I know, it's beaten into the ground) and the bullpen wackiness - Crain was one bomb from being a total goat today with the 3 walks - makes me skeptical. Also we won today with three home runs and good pitching, again, THE ONLY WINNING FORMULA for this team. So if you could guarantee me we'd be hittting a ton of home runs in games in the Cell, which we don't and if we could get consistently good bullpen work (which frankly we haven't for 2 plus seasons now) I might believe. Sorry if I'm a bad fan for not jumping on board.

NATO Chicago
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 17, 2012 -> 10:02 PM) That sucks that you have to go down there. Any s***head who is doing something like that should be arrested, charged properly and be subject to a civil suit from their victims. Agreed. What do you guys think of the guy running timcast.com getting pulled over last night. Seems like too much to be a coincidence. Cops drew their guns on the timcast.com guy n his two friends. All sorts of weird questions pop in my head when I think of protestors who march, then park in front of the mayor's house, etc. Like ... -- If the protestors walked on the lawns on people on the far southside there'd be some ass kicking going on by the homeowners. They are mighty proud of those small plots of grass on the southside. I saw on the video the protestors were trampling some lawns. -- What does a protestor do if he needs to take a leak? Nobody's gonna let them in their house or restaurant? Slugging all that water down all day and gatorade while walking ... what happens? Ah my mind races when the Sox win 4 in a row.

http://www.suntimes.com/sports/12643100-41...with-pitch.html This is all such bulls***. I wish Samarj would take a lie detector test. He hit Konerko on purpose. Cmon. He just sounds like a guy trying to get away with it.
