Sox @ Tigers 12:40
Well, look at the flaws in the guys coming up. When’s the last position player who’s lived up to his potential to have spent a significant amount of time with the team throughout his development? I can think of one (TA) in recent memory. the team has always been in such a rush to bring guys up from the minors to help NOW (like Vaughn) that it’s been to the detriment of their long term success.

This organization sucks at player development. period.

Burger taking reps at 2B
- Burger taking reps at 2B
Odor throws a mean right hook.- Past time to get Anderson out of the top of the order
Exhibit A- Burger taking reps at 2B
My point is that the best option is to offload one of your 3Bmen to fill the 2B hole via trade. ...or I guess Cesar Hernandez is available.- Burger taking reps at 2B
Yes, but a legitimate 2Bman + Moncada (or Burger) at 3B is better than either of the above two.- Burger taking reps at 2B
To echo @wegner... yes, he was that bad: https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/leaderboard/outs_above_average?type=Fielder&startYear=2022&endYear=2022&split=yes&team=&range=year&min=q&pos=of&roles=&viz=hide Of all outfielders last year, was the lowest-rated (per Statcast) out of 125 outfielders on Outs Above Average (-17) as well as Runs Prevented (-15).- Burger taking reps at 2B
Don't worry - accountability isn't an issue around here.- Burger taking reps at 2B
Not sure this is something they are capable of.- 5/23 Sox @ Guardians 5:10PM
Yeah, seems like he wasn't the guy to take them over the hump. In a 162 game season that last week would have been just another stretch, but in the 2020 season it was way too important.- 5/23 Sox @ Guardians 5:10PM
Ricky was a good manager for a developing team. He wasn’t seen as a guy to get them over the hump and transition from “developing” to “contending” (quotes intentional).- Burger to the outfield???
I am in the “trade someone to make people able to fit positions they are capable of playing” camp. Quit this shuffling around.- Will the Sox do the right thing when Eloy comes back and move Yoan to 2B?
My point isn’t that Moncada is useless or worthless (quite the opposite). My point is that we have a surplus of 3Bmen. Given the options, we can use one to fill a huge gap in other positions without creating one in his place at 3B.- Will the Sox do the right thing when Eloy comes back and move Yoan to 2B?
For a deadline team looking for elite 3B defense with an above average bat (and potentially elite bat in there somewhere)? I can see a team overpaying for that if they think it can a) put them over the top for a championship run; and b) fix his bat and keep him healthy.- Will the Sox do the right thing when Eloy comes back and move Yoan to 2B?
Yep. still has more trade value than Burger.- Will the Sox do the right thing when Eloy comes back and move Yoan to 2B?
Since when is Jake Burger considered a more durable option? I am in the "trade Moncada" camp if we are looking for a 2Bman, not because I think Burger is better, but because I think Moncada can still command a good return. IMO Burger is "good enough" at 3B to roll the dice on his bat. You only do that if you think you can cash out on Yoan's value and trade him for a 2B or SOLID RF.- CHGO: Pedro working with Luis on pitch recognition
Yes. Someone should invest in something like that. I feel like it would give teams an advantage.- CHGO: Pedro working with Luis on pitch recognition
Seems like a good idea. i wonder if anyone has thought about employing someone full time to work on stuff like that for more guys.- Garfein: Tim Anderson hates pitch clock, not Chicago
Only one ROY? weak.- The Pedro Hire
Yeah, but you have to admit it would be pretty amazing if Veeck would have had access to the internet- Least likeable team since 2000
That, but don't forget that the contracts that made those guys such favorable assets were given out by Hahn. Not saying he doesn't deserve to lose his job over these past few seasons, but he DID do a passable job of assembling talent... just not a team. Seems like the kind of guy who will perpetually make a fantastic assistant GM but then s%*# the bed as the actual GM.- Least likeable team since 2000
It was almost like 2020 happened, and Hahn wasn't ready to flip to "win now" mode. Or at least he showed his ineptitude in trying to "win now."- Even after Sun offensive explosion, Sox still 2nd worst MLB RS/RA
Well the good news is that accountability isn’t the issue here. Imagine how much worse it would be if accountability was what was the issue.- Nightengale: Gio won't be on 2024 White Sox
Hahn (10/26/2022 ascension to GM) technically gets credit for the Sale (3/7/2013) and Quintana (3/2014) contract extensions. He also deserves credit for extracting great value in the returns for the above two, plus Eaton. IMO he deserves a lot of credit for laying the foundation for a great core with his tear-down and start of the rebuild... but he's completely and utterly failed at rounding out that core (including contingency planning outside of 1B / DH) - Burger taking reps at 2B
