  1. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 10:22 AM) [tears up prepared name tag, complete with post total] Do they make a piece of paper large enough to handle those type of figures?
  2. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 10:20 AM) Wow, I never even thought of that. That's a good question. Why was he never there? I hope there's a satisfying answer out there. Milkman, you will get your usual answer. It will be a combination of Frank is so hurt that he cannot walk and is back in Vegas rehabbing for next season. However, I believe the guy should be traveling with the team. This has been commonplace for Frank to not be with the team when he's been injured. And personally, I think it is a bunch of BS and more fuel to my fire of things I don't like about Frank Thomas. I love the guy as a player, but things like this just boil my blood like no other. Unless you are bed wridden to the point you can't walk, you can at least sit in the dugout and give some support. Just imagine the feeling you would get while attending a Sox game when Carl puts us ahead in the 8th with a blast and Frank is one of the first guys giving him a high five when he returns to the dugout. Personally, I think it would give me chills.
  3. Mark on the bump.....YESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. I expect everyone to wear nametags with poster id's and post count totals at the event ala WSI at Soxfest. If anyone actually does this, please have someone punch you in the face. Have fun all!
  5. Maybe if he was with the team when he was injured, ala Scott Podsednik and basically any other Sox player who has been hurt this season including a World Series champion like El Duque, I would be in favor of this. I haven't seen Frank at one game this year since he went on the shelf. Does he even care about this team and if he does, why isn't he in the dugout every game?
  6. QUOTE(Goldmember @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 09:33 AM) main wallpaper thread is not place to ask about your sig. post split. Nazi Mod. Gold, hit me up sometime soon, I may be needing a new sig.
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 01:13 PM) Where's Francouer? How could I forget him, maybe Chipper goes to 1B or is moved with Francouer in LF. Either way, I think Marte plays 3B next year. For me....
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 01:09 PM) BTW, the reason people think Furcal is Cubs bound is that his agent is Aramis Ramirez's agent, and the Braves supposedly won't be able to re-sign him. They're considered the heavy favorite to sign Furcal. Also, I'd rather have Uribe for 3 million than Alex Gonzalez for 7 million. I also think the Braves will use Betemit at SS next year with Marte possibly taking over at 3B depending on where Chipper will play. I think Atlanta is a huge favorite for Brian Giles, I could see the following Braves team for next year. LF - Francouer, CF - Jones, RF - Brian Giles, 3B - Marte, SS - Betemit, 2B - Giles, 1B - Laroche/Chip, C - Estrada Another East division title IMO.
  9. Players who deserve a call-up: Borchard, Burke, Bajenaru Players who will be called up in addition to thse guys IMO: Harris, McCarthy, Anderson (if he is sent down when Pods is back for a day or so) I hope we also dump Adkins
  10. Just because Kent is a slight redneck who speaks his mind and doesn't care if he steps on people's toes doesn't make him a bad guy. In fact, I give the guy props for not bowing down to egomaniacs like Bonds and Bradley. I think Kent would fit right in on our team simply because he would get along with Ozzie due to the fact that they are both NO BS kind of guys. Personally, I think Jeff Kent is one of the best offensive 2B to ever play the game and is vastly undervalued by many who follow the game. The guy just flat out produces runs year after year.
  11. I was asleep by the 5th inning, but.... HELL YEAH Let's keep the streak going today.
  12. Who cares, when it happens, it happens. Other than that, no sense in predicting it. Just let the thing play out.
  13. I don't see Uribe going anywhere. He is a brilliant defensive shortstop and for a guy hitting 8th or 9th in the lineup, we can't expect huge offensive numbers. I think it would be foolish to give up on Juan after the year. Plus, his contract is not outlandish and fits into our budget for next season.
  14. QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 09:07 AM) Esteban was lazy last year with us. There is no doubt in my mind of that. I'm happy with Jose, thank you. How so? I think it was more of a guy coming back to reality after a 2003 that he'll never repeat again. Loaiza's 2003 was spectacular, but it was clearly a fluke season. Contreras, in my mind, has still never justified the money he got from NY and is getting from us, but he is a serviceable No.3/4 big league starter at this point. I do not expect to see him on the southside beyond next season, unless he takes a huge paycut or moves into the bullpen.
  15. Feels good to say this again.... RIP EM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 11:50 AM) That's him. That MF'r threw the Sox like 7 pitches in a row that were at least 100. I think he hit 101 a few times. Anyone else remember that? I'm surpised that guy is still throwing. He's a skinny guy and you could see that it took every ounce of energy on every pitch. Crazy. He already threw his arm out once and required surgery, that's why he is no longer with the Tigers. Former overall No. 1 pick has nasty stuff, unfortunately his subpar mechanics stopped him from becoming a dominant MLB closer over an extended period of time. I was rooting for him too since he is from Louisville.
  17. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 03:45 PM) None...but I'm at the bar every Sunday cheering them on. Drunk
  18. He'll be the right fielder for the Braves next season. Book it.
  19. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 01:19 AM) Some reason I just see Rush being nothing more than Bracey Wright II. I'm not interested in that. He could be a lot worse, Bracey Wright was not as bad as many make him out to be. He is actually a very good kid who got some bad advice about going to the pros and he basically had no help last year.
  20. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 02:13 PM) The CNNSI guy did an absolutely horrendous job of creating a Red Sox team. Here's what I have seen on another board, which is far and away better than the White Sox team, which makes it hard to believe how you can say the Red Sox "draft for s***."
  21. Man the Red Sox team sucks they have on CNNSI. Guess that's what happens when you can't draft for s*** and have to buy a World Series. :fyou Boston!

    Dear Hawk,

I cant wait for the day where I can say....Hawk....HE GONE!
  23. Talked to Clark Francis (The Hoop Scoop) this week, he came into my work, said that any program that takes Rush is crazy and that the kid is a cancer waiting to happen. Says he is one of the least disciplined guys you will find.
