  1. Send him to AAA then and he can be #12 or #13 or whatever number he wants to be.
  2. I think this could be one of the most interesting battles in Spring Training next season, with Rowand winning the job...Reasoning on this is that he is a KW guy and he's never really been given a fair chance at the position everyday. Gotta believe that Reed will land in Triple-A along with Borchard. I'd be pretty happy with Rowand in CF opposed to spending big time money to get a outfielder. I think Rowand will bring a lot that Ozzie looks for in a player and could enjoy a season somewhere along these lines: .270, 12-15 HR, 60 RBI and a solid defensive game in centerfielder. Interested to hear other's opinions on the CF job in the spring.
  3. Eldred I will pass on. Kline I'd sign for the bullpen, I think he's pretty solid.
  4. How about using the number "0" because that's how much playing time I want him to get next season.
  5. The chances of us signing Castillo got a little bit higher, than again we didn't even really have a shot of signing Castillo in the first place. One thing is for sure, Ozzie wants to win. He only said it about 40 times at the press conference. CWSOX45 As opposed to what, not wanting to win? I dunno, I think he was kinda redundant. Than again I might just be used to hearing too much of Jerry Manuel. Don't get me wrong, I love Ozzie's passion for the game. I think he will do well here. CWSOX45 I agree with ya, I like Ozzie and want him to succeed.

  7. Joey Cora? You've gotta be kidding me.
  8. I'm now reading that Astacio is a top 15 prospect from the Phils, so this could be even sweeter for the Astros. Only time will tell...
  9. Cw, you're certainly entitled to your opinion and it's well-respected. On the other hand, defending Ozzie and his comments today, what did you expect from him besides a fiery attitude and aggressive nature? It's just too early to tell how this is going to work out, but I gotta give him credit for his enthusiasm and desire to succeed.
  10. We're going to play the way I want to play, or you're not going to play... Listen up Big Skirt and PK... Concede the double play a few times and you'll be in the doghouse...
  11. Ozzie's shown more passion in 10 mins than JM showed in his whole tenure with the White Sox... After hearing him for these few minutes, I believe the Sox made the right choice.
  12. Pretty humorous to call someone an asshole who you don't even know, I'd say. Especially some members who I've always been friendly to over my tenure on this board and have never had a negative word about. Is this the same individual who has time and time again posted in threads where I've voiced opinions and tried to bring them down or "roll her eyes" at them? Since those comments that were made about Guillen seemed to be so "set in stone," I don't see the problem with posting them. Anyhow, say what you'd like and think what you'd like. I'm not going to throw insults back and forth. I wasn't malicious about anything in my comments, I just pointed out what was pretty much common fact. That's all from here. Sorry if people are overly sensitive.
  13. Perhaps you could find a book to read then...
  14. Buchholz is rated Philly's 4th best prospect, ahead of Cole Hamels, according to Baseball America. He's 22, a right handed pitcher and is projected to be a No.2 starter in the bigs. Astacio isn't ranked in their top 30, as he is most likely a throw-in to the deal.
  15. Abo, those quotes are from Steff. I still like her though Sometimes people are right about things, sometimes they're wrong. No biggie, she's cool. Hmmm, with that degree of certainty though, you'd expect the info provided would be on target. Guess not...
  16. Jas, when will Cito "Now in Permanent Retirement" Gaston be taken off the banner?
  17. If he fails, he and KW will be on the first plane out of town early next October...
  18. But I thought he had the same chance "as my grandma" of getting the White Sox managerial job according to a prominent poster of this board?
  19. Why did he spill the beans before the news confrence? It's his job to get the scoop, he's a reporter. Not like nobody knows anyhow. It's basically all over the place. Now would someone get Cito Gaston's face off the banner. Thanks for not bringing that doormat out of retirement KW....
  20. They wanted to cut payroll, plus they have Dotel and Lidge at the back of the pen who are both capable replacements. I think it was simply a salary dump.
  21. BTW, anyone know who these quotes are from: Posted: Oct 24 2003, 10:32 AM Personal ties, . If people only knew. The interview is simply to say it was done. Ozzie has as much of a chance at being the manager as my grama does. Posted: Oct 23 2003, 08:34 AM BTW.. Ozzie will not be the manager. Shows what some people around here know...
  22. Welcome Oz...Glad we aren't going to be stuck with Gaston, who is about as exciting as watching paint dry.
