QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 18, 2015 -> 03:54 PM) Because he hasn't done it either consistently or in AA. Spectacular year, but didn't even reach 100 innings. There ought to be guys who have put up much more consistent numbers than that. Sano and Buxton hadn't either when they were top 10 prospects in all of baseball.

I put $100 on NE at +250 a few weeks ago so if NE jumps up to a 3 point or so favorite I'll probably hedge it out somewhat. This past weekend I won a couple soccer bets on the Africa Cup of Nations but got destroyed by the NE/IND game. I had a 3 team teaser on GB +18.5, NE + 3 and IND +17 and I had an in game bet on over 52.5 so that sucked. I don't bet that much once football ends. I'll make a couple CBB bets a week and I like dabbling in international soccer but once the Super Bowl ends I go pretty quiet until the NCAA tournament.

So the NCAA is going to acknowledge that what they said didn't happen but did actually happen, happened again. So does this mean the cause of this whole thing didn't actually happen then? Good job NCAA.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 15, 2015 -> 06:34 PM) I pride myself in trying them all, lol. Yeah, I'm not actually raw dogging that was just a joke. Well I was put she was on BC. I know about precum and everything. So her dad found out we were dating and told her she had to get on BC because her sister got knocked up by her now brother-in-law. She said she didn't want to get on it because it was going to make her all moody. So she got on it and I was excited but then she started getting nauseous all the time and became incredibly moody. In the five years of knowing her I never saw anything like it. It was making us fight for the first time and I just wanted to know if anyone had experienced anything similar. She's going to go to the doctor to get on a different type of BC. I hope the craziness levels. Different BCs affect women differently since they generally involve a different combination hormones. There's nothing wrong with her trying different ones and yes they will have different effects on her. My now wife switched about a year ago and she's a little more moody and her face breaks out sometimes which she hates but the other pill was giving her occasional migraines so I pushed her to talk to her doctor about it and she said she had to switch. Maybe she just needs a different BC

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 14, 2015 -> 08:35 PM) Her old doppelganger is Lip's rich g/f on Shameless. And still believe "Safety Not Guaranteed" is one of the coolest movies of all-time that very few have ever seen or heard much about. They don't really look similar at all.

So it appears I'm going to New Orleans for a bachelor party in March. Anyone ever been there? I think we're staying right in the French Quarter

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 10, 2015 -> 10:08 AM) DeVante Parker will be the best wide receiver from this draft. He could be. I really, really like Jameson Crowder and Justin Hardy. Crowder is an Antonio Brown clone and Hardy might not have quite the upside, but he has good size and great hands and should be available in rounds 2-3.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 05:08 PM) It's always going to happen when everyone loves to hate and laugh at that team. If this happened to the Panthers no one would care. But it's funny when it happens to a team everyone hates. It's no surprise. I had a decent sized wager tied into an in-game bet of over 48.5 so I would have loved another score in that game. Doesn't change my opinion on whether or not that was the correct call (it was) though. -

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 02:04 PM) David Luiz was voted in FIFA's Team of the Year. Makes no sense whatsoever. He's a CB that doesn't even defend well. Guys like Godin, Boateng, and Hummels got snubbed. you've gotta be kidding. DaviD Luiz is such crap. He's not even the best CB on PSG. FIFA voting is absurd. -

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 02:23 AM) You just contradicted yourself. By "Stretching for the TD" he is making a football move. At that point, it's ruled a catch. According to the reversal, he never showed he had possession, he never stretched or reached for the endzone. And that's horses***. I've seen the replay 100 times now. He is absolutely turning his arm up towards the goalline. If he was just trying to catch the ball, he would have tucked it, not extended outward. Horrible call to end a great game. The NFL is a f***ing joke with some of these calls and rules. For all the Lions fans who said that the horrible call last week ended their season, they've got nothing on this call, as the Cowboys never possessed the ball again, and were losing. Lions were winning and had 2 more possessions. While both were bad calls, one team had good chance to make the call irrelevant. The other team is the Cowboys. And the Cowboys had a damn good chance to win the Superbowl as well. They have beaten 2 of the 3 opponents possibly advancing already this season. The highlighted is the only correct part of this post. It's a dumb rule for sure, but it was absolutely the correct call based on those rules. The Lions were legitimately screwed by the refs last week. The Cowboys were lucky to even be here still. Not even the same situation. It is quite the comedic karma seeing the difference in opinion from Cowboys fans from last week to this week however. You see the catch and then it gets reversed. It's almost as if a flag got picked up and cancelled, huh? -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 8, 2015 -> 10:28 AM) Let's compare EJ Manuel and Jameis Winston then. I think Winston looks like a much, much better prospect than Manuel, but Manuel had a really good numbers in that system, better than you may remember. http://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/ej-manuel-1.html QUOTE (shipps @ Jan 8, 2015 -> 11:10 AM) As far as their final college years they are, in fact they arguably had better numbers because they didnt have all the interceptions that he had. To be clear though, as a whole he obviously put up better overall numbers than those two. Especially with his out of this world freshman year. I just cant ignore the fact that some of his success should be attributed to the system and then to add on all the negative outside stuff he is not a real great prospect IMO. If you actually watched the majority of their games you would see why they aren't really comparable. As a FSU fan, I was shocked and laughed when I saw Ponder and Manuel get drafted in the first round. Manuel in particular I can't tell you how many times would just chuck the ball downfield and have one of his big WRs just go up and grab it. Winston is totally different. He puts balls in windows that are barely there, he throws to spots that get his receivers open instead of waiting for an open man, and he uses his mobility only when necessary. Look, I personally agree with those saying they would not want their team to draft him, because I'm done rooting for him too and wouldn't want him on my NFL team, but for anyone to deny his ability and potential and to use weak comparisons is just being ignorant and willfully blind because of the stuff in his personal life. He's an exceptional talent who was spotted in high school and has actually lived up to the hype. From a pure ability on the field, he is more than worthy of being the #1 pick. Obviously, his off the field baggage changes things, but I just do not understand those who try to deny the talent, other than doing so out of some grudge against him. -
Has anyone read any of Feist's Riftwar Cycle? I'm about halfway through the second book of the Riftwar Trilogy so far. It's not bad, started reading to attempt to quell my ASOIAF thirst.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 8, 2015 -> 03:42 AM) Ten years ago, no way. Now....20-25, pretty close. Although in today's environment, I think 27.5 or even 30+ is the magic number to be considered a "home run hitter." Yeah but that ever elusive half of a HR makes it all the more rare to accomplish that. Thanks, Sonix

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Jan 7, 2015 -> 06:09 PM) as well as an alarming number of interceptions. This season yes. He also had no one to throw to. Rashad Greene is a 2nd-3rd round pick, Nick O'Leary was a top 5 college TE and then his #2-4 WR were freshmen and his RBs were a SR converted safety with bad hands and a true freshman RB. People don't realize that he had nothing to work with. I can remember at least 4 or 5 INTs that were a direct result of the WR dropping/deflecting the pass. That's not to totally excuse him, but he was forced to work with not much help. QUOTE (shipps @ Jan 7, 2015 -> 09:24 PM) Jamarcus Russell and Ponder also had great numbers under Jimbos system. Not really similar at all actually. -

QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 7, 2015 -> 02:10 PM) Jameis may be a decent QB, but his off the field antics are too much of a red flag for many teams. His make-up and decision making are major concerns, but purely from the standpoint of NFL QB ability, a lot of talent evaluators believe he is the strongest pro-style QB to come out since Luck. -

QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 6, 2015 -> 02:50 PM) With it being McGwire's last year next year, hopefully more will look at him as a wasted vote and Raines will get some more traction over the next two years. Griffey is the only lock next year, with Jim Edmonds, Billy Wagner, and Trevor Hoffman there too. 2 years from now-- Ivan Rodriguez, Manny, Vlad, and Posada are the notables. Hoffman should eventually get in, but no to Wagner and Edmonds. Then in 2 years Pudge has a PED cloud similar to Piazza, Manny has his own issues and Posada is not close to being a HoFer. Vladdy should be the only 1st timer that year. -

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 5, 2015 -> 09:40 AM) That was just straight-up dumb. Their chance of winning is way higher going for it there than it is punting. edit: this is generally true of 4-and-1 situations I hope someday soon we see a coach who employs true game strategy and goes for it on 4th down when they're actually supposed to. -
Bonifacio is the perfect bench player. He can play 6 positions, makes decent contact and can steal bases. Really makes it easy to pinch hit for players when you have a guy that can fill in virtually anywhere on the field. I'm not going to quibble about an extra million. This is a great pickup. Players like him are super valuable in October. Edit: The club option makes it even better. If the Sox pick it up it means he did a good job in '15.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jan 5, 2015 -> 03:19 AM) I thought it was a PI calls as well. I'm just telling you what the ref said was their reasoning for picking up the flag. I did however feel less sympathetic towards that call when I saw this video.... https://vine.co/v/OdD5hWMBK2q Could have been offsetting penalties at the least. And before that Hitchens had been holding his jersey as well. Even if offsetting penalties were called, Dez Bryant coming onto the field after the play without his helmet should have been a dead ball unsportsmanlike that would have been a first down anyways. My only rooting interest in the game was for either team to win by less than a TD, so it worked out perfectly for me, but that was one of the most egregious sequence of events I've seen a while in a playoff game. Detroit has every right to be pissed about the call. And their fans have every right to be pissed about their HC not having the balls or brains to go for it on 4th and 1 in plus territory. -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 22, 2014 -> 06:17 PM) Jesus, that team is stacked and you got screwed. I don't mind monetizing the playoffs, but I have always believed in a payout that favors regular seasons or, at the very least, is about 50/50. My team sucked this year so I didn't have to worry about the playoffs, but only 4 get into the playoffs and we run 2 week playoff games - weeks 14 and 15 is the semi-final, 16 and 17 is the championship. We pay out the entry fee back to the division winners and then there is weekly prize $$, so I did win my division and 6 individual weeks. It wasn't even about the money though. It'd be nice, but this league is with my closest friends from high school and bragging rights are most important. Someone tracks historical performance, and despite having the most "wins" and highest PPG average all time (and it's honestly not even that close) and also being the only person in 9 years to never miss the playoffs, I have never won. And I hear about it all the time lol -

Here was my team in my most important league (2-QB, PPR) QB- Andrew Luck RB- Jamaal Charles (traded Ben Tate, Josh Gordon, Keenan Allen in week 4) RB - Le'Veon Bell WR-Calvin Johnson WR-Mike Evans TE-Travis Kelce/Delanie Walker QB?FLEX- Drew Brees (Traded Julius Thomas who was a 18th round keeper and Phillip Rivers to a guy who was out of it at the trade deadline) K- Who cares? (But it was Justin Tucker all year) Def- We start 2 IDP instead of a team defense, I had Worrliow and Timmons (top 10 guys) The lowest points I had scored all year was 130ish and I had the most points scored all year. I scored 106 points this week. The team I lost to, the 6th seed with the 5th most points in the league, scored 141 this week. So I lost. Fantasy playoffs are bulls***.
