  1. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Feb 13, 2015 -> 10:09 AM) Boring betting day. Anyone have any thoughts? I put something on PSV this afternoon (Dutch soccer league). They are by far the best team in the league (19-1-2 on the year) and don't have any real injuries right now. They are on the road at AZ (Aron Johannson's club) but despite AZ's good season so far they have not been that great of a home side. ML is right around -110 so I'm gonna give it a go since I thought this would have been sitting in the -160 range. Edit: This means it's gonna be a draw
  2. QUOTE (chw42 @ Feb 12, 2015 -> 11:12 PM) Kaka, David Villa, and Frank Lampard. Should be fun. I wish Xavi would come to the MLS. He's not getting any burn at Barca. I think Xavi comes to MLS eventually. I really want to start following MLS closer this season so I hope the potential work stoppage doesn't come to fruition
  3. FIFA just extended their broadcasting rights in the US to Fox and Telemundo all the way through 2026 out of nowhere. No bidding or anything. That's not shady at all. My guess is this is them saying sorry for f***ing you over with moving the 2022 WC into the winter so please don't sue us so here you go. Or Sepp Blatter is trying to curry favor with someone ahead of the May elections.
  4. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 11, 2015 -> 03:11 PM) Did you hear the press conference? Both Father Pfleger and Jesse Jackson OPENLY ADMITTED to not knowing much about everything thats happening, but both claimed racism. They were both asked direct questions about the boundaries and they immediately started saying we need to clean these kids records because it looks like they are getting criminal records, and then they talked about the college money pipeline. That press conference pretty much closed the book on this issue. How shocking. I'm surprised it took that long for that to become the thing about the whole matter
  5. QUOTE (raBBit @ Feb 10, 2015 -> 06:40 PM) I'm sorry that I can't help OP, but on the same subject, any advice for someone who will be graduating shortly in reference to how they treat their loans? Essentially, is there anything you wish you knew after graduating? If you CAN pay more, you should pay more. I did not do that for the first several years but for the past 3 or 4 I've been paying just an extra $25 a month. By doing this I am going to be done paying my loans about a year and a half earlier than I would have otherwise.
  6. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Feb 10, 2015 -> 10:33 PM) to get an understanding of why a lot of people really were unhappy with AFFC, consider that people reading the books as they came out had to wait 12 years for the plot lines of Jon Snow, Tyrion and Daenerys to continue. Yeah, I didn't start reading the series until just before the show, so I only had to wait a short time for aDwD and now tWoW. I can't imagine being a reader from the beginning and having to wait that long.
  7. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 10, 2015 -> 10:02 PM) Thanks. Currently enjoying A Dance With Dragons a bit more because I skipped over the first three books as I'd just watched all the shows together. For that reason, it doesn't feel quite so slow/repetitive/redundant as some critics have pointed out. By June 2010, Martin had finished four chapters for The Winds of Winter from the viewpoints of Sansa Stark, Arya Stark, and Arianne Martell.[5] In July 2010, he added an Aeron Greyjoy chapter that had been moved from A Dance with Dragons to The Winds of Winter, accumulating around 100 completed manuscript pages.[8] By October 2012, 400 pages of the sixth novel had been written, although Martin considers only the first 200 as "really finished", the rest still needing revisions.[26] Supposedly the last two books will both be 1500+ pages. I would highly recommend going back and reading the first three books. They are, in my opinion, the best 3 of the series and provide so much back story, history and additional characters and intrigue that it will be very worth your while.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 10, 2015 -> 01:59 PM) If we didn't buy NFL jerseys that would not stop spousal abuse. If the group that became Isis wasn't able to finance their war by selling oil, they wouldn't have made more than a whimper in Syria. If Saudi Arabia wasn't able to keep itself propped up by oil, they wouldn't be able to feed money to groups like Isis and have a trump card that prevents anyone from reforming them. Have you ever bought a diamond or gold for yourself or someone else? If so, you support slavery. Have you ever purchased or worn a shirt made outside of the US? If so, you support child labor. Have you ever purchased anything from Switzerland? If so, you support their history of allowing terrorist organizations to finance themselves. Did you watch the Super Bowl? If so, you support the event that brings in hundreds of human traffickers every year. Did you watch the Olympics in Sochi? If so, you support Russia's anti-LGBT stance. These all follow the same logic of buying gas equals support for beheadings.
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 10, 2015 -> 10:57 AM) When is the 6th GOT book supposed to be published? I was just finishing the fourth and he signed off saying it (the 5th) would come in a year or so and it ended up being almost five years. Was the book series originally planned to end at 6 or is it getting extended as well because of the success of the HBO series? EDIT: Guess it will be anytime from 2015-2017...The Winds of Winter, with A Dream of Spring following hopefully when everyone is still alive and interested in the series. They're really going to have to show down the t.v. series and stretch it out while waiting for WofW. The book's ETA is anyone's guess at this point. His publishers said about a week ago that it would NOT be in 2015. However, they then retracted that and said it is not currently planned for 2015. I think Spring 2016 is a realistic possibility. The books began back in the mid-1990's, so nothing is being drawn out because of TV. His first three books came out quickly and then he ran into his problem and everything has been severely delayed since then. An additional problem is that GRRM does so much else - the Dunk & Egg novellas, his editing of several anthologies, the World of Ice and Fire, until this year he's written an episode per season for the show, numerous tours and appearances etc... He's released or read 4 or 5 chapters from The Winds of Winter so far and was said to have had 100-200 manuscript pages done at the time of Dance with Dragons release, so hopefully he's almost done, but with George you really can't know when he'll get it done. Also, the show runners know the ending in broad strokes, they are not going to slow the show down. They are planning on finishing in in 7 seasons (although I personally think they need 8 to do it justice) and by then there is probably less than a 1% chance GRRM has released A Dream of Spring
  10. QUOTE (raBBit @ Feb 10, 2015 -> 01:04 PM) Do we sign a September pinch runner now? If Jacob May plays well in Birmingham that will be his job
  11. What a draw for the U-20's! The US gets New Zealand (hosts), Ukraine and Myanmar in the U-20 World Cup in June.
  12. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 8, 2015 -> 05:52 PM) I'm going to Spain March 12-22nd. Madrid for 5 days then Valencia. Trying to go to a soccer game though I can't really figure out how tickets quite work. We're right next to real madrid stadium do I'd love to do that but it seems they only have "vip" section tickets on sale. Anyone have experience buy tickets to big soccer team games? Do they usually make tickets available closer to the game? Right now the date of the game isn't even set in stone so I'm not sure if it's sold out or if tickets just aren't available yet. Also any Spain recommendations would be great. Don't focus on just seeing Real Madrid. They will be the hardest ticket and Madrid is also home to Atletico Madrid, Getafe and Ray Vallecano. Real and Atletico are in the Champions League and may have a match in that time so that could be why the matches aren't set in stone yet - games get moved frequently in Europe. Also, in Valencia you have two options: Valencia and Levante. Villareal is also a short train ride from Valencia but they could be in the Europa quarter finals during that time. Keep checking each club, I'd be surprised if Rayo and Getafe matches always sold out.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 9, 2015 -> 01:32 PM) "Isis is terrible! They kill people in horrible ways". "They make their money from oil and so do our "friends", who also kill people in the same ways. Stop using oil and you stop funding them" "Well, I guess beheading people for witchcraft isn't all that bad. I mean look at Texas, they execute innocent people too!". At least we've all agreed to find the good side of beheadings,

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Feb 6, 2015 -> 02:44 AM) Impractical Jokers new season started last week. Has to be the funniest show on TV, IMO. I am actually seeing them live in St. Louis next month, can't wait! Two of the guys also have a podcast that is pretty funny as well (What Say You), you can find it on Stitcher and on their website I stumbled into that show about a year ago and now watch it whenever I see it. It makes me laugh more than any show on television in a long time
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 5, 2015 -> 02:02 PM) "I was sexually harassed, complained, was labeled a witch and beheaded" = an improvement. I think I'm on pretty solid ground here. People are happy to type how awful beheading and other insanely terrible forms of death are, but oh sweet mother no I'm not giving up my gasoline because of it and how dare you ever consider asking me that. As you are a Bills fan, I am completely appalled that you support OJ Simpson's actions. Spousal abuse and murder should not be tolerated!
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 4, 2015 -> 05:55 PM) Cuse, postseason ban Self-imposed. Such bulls***. They have their worst team in years and aren't making the NCAA tourney anyways. Meanwhile, they have a really good recruiting class next year and will be hoping to compete. But this is apparently all a coincidence? Give me a break. Hopefully the NCAA tacks on an additional punishment or this is going to set a precedent that will be exploited. Program gonna get in trouble? Just drag it on for 8 years and when you are set up for a bad year just self impose a ban and move on.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 3, 2015 -> 05:29 PM) Just remember, every time you fill up your gas tank, you're making a strong statement in support of beheading.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jan 30, 2015 -> 02:18 PM) GoT new trailer leaked, man it's going heavy into book 5 and I love it. I understand they are two separate entities now entirely, but the lack of the really worries/bothers me. The trailer looks very interesting though, this should be another great season. Also, Sand Snakes!
  19. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 30, 2015 -> 11:32 AM) Davidson 6th? Seems very high to me, for him at this point. He basically said he's not worried about Davidson because it was first time we've seen something like that from him. Still thinks he will (could be) a starting 3B in MLB
  20. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 30, 2015 -> 10:53 AM) I'm a subscriber to BA and BP, but not Law/ESPN, so... if anyone happens to be able to see just the names/order of the T10, I'd appreciate it! No need to clip in anything beyond that, don't want to get into any trouble. Rodon Anderson Adams Montas Johnson Davidson Michalczewski Danish Adolfo Hawkins Rondon Sanchez Beck Sanburn Thompson QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 30, 2015 -> 10:54 AM) If he actually watched Hawkins (there is a lot of video), I think he'd know that in 2014, that was definitely not his problem. If anything he may have dialed it down too much in terms of bat speed. His issue is with pitch recognition and adjustment. He said he can do it because he witnessed it with RISP. But he said when he isn't bearing down like that "he'll cut through fastballs up and chase breaking balls down until the sun swallows the earth."
  21. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 30, 2015 -> 10:36 AM) Law's top 10 list just came out. Can anybody post what the thinks about the Sox? - Montas just missed his top 100. Said he'll either be a 220 inning beast, Aroldis Chapman or flame out due to lack of control and/or knee issues. - Micah Johnson will be a top 100 next year if he still qualifies. - Rondon is #11 and he rates his defense a true 80 - Adolfo is his sleeper, says he has a 70 arm and 60 raw power right now. 30+ HR potential down the line - Likes what Hahn has done with the system, best he's seen it since he's been rating them. - Still thinks Courtney Hawkins (#10) can turn it around if he stops trying to hit everything 500 feet - Believes Danish is probably going to end up in the bullpen due to his arm slot - Pretty positive article overall
  22. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 29, 2015 -> 08:58 PM) 8 month pregnant women. They tend to get pissed about dumb s***. Fixed.
  23. The picture they are using for Pirates OF prospect Josh Bell is a picture of old Josh Bell in a White Sox helmet

    QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 28, 2015 -> 08:14 PM) http://uproxx.com/gammasquad/2014/12/watch...e-scenes-video/ This is Agent Carter I'm pretty sure. No it's the Dottie character
  25. Well, ND looked great. Bet looked good when Duke was up 11 late but I think they scored like 4 points the last 5 minutes. I despise Duke, so it's alright. f***ing Kansas though! Up by 10 with less than 2 minutes left, they let TCU get to within 3 with 5 seconds left, get fouled and miss both FTs. Line was -4. Not a good night in CBB for me
