  1. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 19, 2014 -> 09:16 AM) Wife brag: as of this very moment, my wife is now a college graduate! She has completed an associate's degree in respiratory therapy. Just judging from everybody's posts, I suspect that nearly all of us who have college degrees were fortunate enough to be able to obtain them before acquiring the responsibilities of a spouse and/or children (myself included). My wife started this process when our children were 3 and 2. I don't think I have the discipline required to be able to get a degree under those circumstances. I remember my dad worked on his doctorate while we were growing up despite having a job at IBM that required travel, loads of overtime and a two year stay in Germany. Must have taken him 8 years to do what it could have taken 2-3. Doing any sort of education post-spouse and children is incredibly difficult
  2. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 18, 2014 -> 07:08 PM) Taking suggestions on the next show to binge watch. I've been considering Boardwalk Empire, Orange is the New Black, House of Cards and Banshee. I thought Banshee was great.
  3. QUOTE (farmteam @ Dec 18, 2014 -> 02:56 PM)
  4. Body cameras did not help Dillon Taylor
  5. Well Cutler being benched just f***ed me in one of my leagues. You can play QB in the Flex so most people play 2 QB. Also makes Jeffery practically unplayable. I have Hopkins to replace him but he's in the same situation. Ugh, brutal.
  6. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Dec 17, 2014 -> 02:13 PM) I was 18 when I started over 10 years ago. In some cases I feel like I was more knowledgeable then instead of now. Mainly because I don't get to read Soxtalk as much as I used to. I was 20 when I joined but I agree with that statement. I used to post much more back then. I think a lot of people joined right at college age 10-12 years ago. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Dec 17, 2014 -> 03:39 PM) I don't think I can find anyone else, and she is going to be a nurse so I won't screw it up lol If that is actually any part of the reason you want to marry her then I would highly suggest waiting longer. That should not be a factor in such a significant decision, especially at your age.
  7. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 16, 2014 -> 02:25 PM) But 20 of them? I just don't get the draw. At some point they just become the same. And while 1-2 might be good, the rest are average to bad. I can't think of a movie franchise, character, story, whatever that I'm interested enough to go see 7-8 times at $40 bucks a pop. I loved me some lord of the rings and the hobbit, but more than 2 is too much. Bond? At least I get a 2-3 year break. I'm ok with reboots after a decade. That's fair. But endless sequels and trilogies? Ugh. Give me something new. I feel like as a kid there were always 1-2 movies out at a time that I wanted to go see. Now I can go weeks without anything at the theaters. That's crazy. And it's because Hollywood is focusing on these huge, big budget movies. Is that really how much it costs you guys to go to a movie in Chicago? It costs me less than $10.
  8. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 16, 2014 -> 06:54 AM) If only there was another thread for it so people like me could avoid it. It must be awful having to sift through about 20 fantasy posts throughout the year in a thread with 6000 posts in it.
  9. Has anyone seem what happened in Peshawar overnight? Just awful. Seeing things like that just reaffirms how lucky we are to live where we do in relation to other parts of the world.
  10. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 16, 2014 -> 01:22 AM) Apparently I am the only one still posting in this thread, but winner winner chicken dinner. Made the finals in both leagues, Cutler to Alshon garbage time has saved me The Cutler/Alshon garbage time drive saved me as well. This has been the best fantasy year of my life so far. I'm on the finals of the 3 leagues I care about and am in the final of another league I don't care much about (full IDP league, so it's interesting, but I just fill a spot for a college friend who needed more people).
  11. Random FF question: I think I got credit for 33 yards Delanie Walker received off of a lateral in the last play of the Titans-Jets game...is that how those plays are always scored? Would hate to see something like that stat corrected later in the week since I'm in a close matchup
  12. So I'm up by 4 in my most important league. I have Drew Brees left and he has Matt Forte (PPR). And in my other league I am down by 10 with Jay Cutler and Alshon Jeffery left and he has Martellus Bennett. Also PPR I think the first is going to come down to the end, but I feel like I should handle the second matchup unless Bennett catches 15 passes again
  13. I still can't figure if the premise of this thread was a joke or someone trolling around. It's hard to believe that this could have been made with sincerity.
  14. I probably have a 75% chance of losing my most important league thanks to Jamaal Charles getting hurt, Justin Tucker missing 2 FGs and Andrew Luck and Mike Evans doing next to nothing. Ugh. Best team I've ever had in any league ever and it's not looking great for me.
  15. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 11, 2014 -> 11:03 AM) My best "achievement" was being on the sideline for a Cotton Bowl. My best "achievments" are being at the AHL All-Star game and seeing the White Sox play in the old Hall of Fame game in Cooperstown and seeing Carlos Lee play SS for a couple innings
  16. Alabama EV Oregon +160 Florida State +500 Ohio State +600 I think that price on Alabama is really short. I thought they'd be more in the -140 range. I expect books will see a lot of action on them at that price
  17. I had forgotten about this until recently, but this happened earlier this year in a town close to where I grew up. Police officer was killed with his own firearm. Unarmed does not mean not harmless or not dangerous http://www.odmp.org/officer/22056-police-o...r-david-w-smith
  18. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 01:21 PM) Then move on. Samardzija is a good pitcher, but if you can't him for Micah Johnson, Frank Montas, and Courney Hawkins, then you move on. That offer is more than fair and offers plenty of value both in the short and long term. Even that is too steep unless you're sure about extending Samardzija's contract
  19. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 01:19 PM) Preseason AP Poll: 1. FSU 2. Alabama 3. Oregon 4. Oklahoma 5. Ohio State Ignoring the overreaction to Oklahoma's bowl win, the 4 teams that were supposed to make it to the end did. I doubt that happens very often. That's also before Ohio State lost their QB. Vegas dropped them to 50:1 for a brief time following that. They're awfully exposed with the Buckeyes right now
  20. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 7, 2014 -> 10:17 AM) I'm a big fan of most things Christmas but I HATE Christmas music. It's so bad and you're all wrong for liking it. This. I love Christmas. I love getting people gifts, I love my extended family's X-mas eve traditions, Yankee swaps with my friends, holiday parties, etc...But I can't stand Christmas music. It's the worst and it makes me want to rupture my ear drums
  21. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Dec 8, 2014 -> 08:04 AM) Assuming he was a good shot, and with the help of the marine, you could easily get off 5 or 6 rounds each and get back to cover since the other group wasn't expecting it. They were also pretty bunched together so that would make it easier.
  22. Bell (and Megatron) helped me overcome Drew Brees in the league I entered as the 1 seed. I thought I was going to have sweat it out with my opponent having Brady/Gronk last night.
  23. Reports that Memphis and Cincinnati are moving to the Big XII. UConn continues to get f***ed with this realignments
  24. Cutler put up a ton of garbage time fantasy points last night. Like I mentioned, have him one, face him in the other. Would have preferred if he didn't have that last TD though.
