Wise has probably earned himself a roster spot as some teams 4th or 5th OF next year

Hopefully that was just a hiccup from MB and he can give us 2-3 more innings

Ugh

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 11:17 AM) Calling themselves a survivor is a slap in the face to anyone who has ever had to survive anything. There's a reason abortions are legal, and had said person not "survived" the abortion they'd have never even had a brain developed to even know what was happening... it's not surviving, it's blind luck, which is pretty much the reason most of us are here. If they are an abortion survivor, then EVERYONE ON THE PLANET is an abortion survivor. I found that title to be hilariously terrible. On that line of thinking, wouldnt that woman who survived a gun shot to the back of the head execution style a month ago in florida just be a victim of dumb luck then? You can point to "dumb luck" as a reason why many people survive whatever it is they may have. Just sayin.

QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Sep 19, 2008 -> 10:51 AM) Mandating the Congressional Cafeteria serves Freedom Toast and Freedom Fries. +1 -

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 03:18 PM) He has logged time in the majors. You pretty much named the player right there... edit: well one out of a possible 3 at least

QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 01:16 PM) Weren't there a lot of people on this board AGAINST drafting Jordan Danks? And now look at him. People were against (scared of) overdrafting Jordan Danks. I dont know if anyone is truly upset about us drafting him when we did this year
-
I'm surprised there were only two #1 votes for him

'Anonymous' Hacker Group Gets Palin's Emails

QUOTE (Texsox @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 12:39 PM) You are right, some of the GOP stalwarts predicted the DemHeads here would be screaming for her resignation or that it was wishful thinking on their part. Well, there was someone who pretty much predicted she would resign after something came out a couple weeks back. I think he was referencing that. -
QUOTE (Texsox @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 12:37 PM) I've said many times, and believe it, that Presidents receive far too much credit, and far too much blame, for what happens in this country and around the world. Agreed 100%

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 03:06 PM) I only read the first sentence, so perhaps you clarified this somewhere in the thread, but neither of those cities are in New England. NYC is close enough where we sometimes reference it to being in New England

Biden says paying more taxes is 'patriotic' So this would only affect people making 250K+ but I dont like that statement at all. It's basically saying that if you are fortunate enough to be wealthy and if you do not want to pay more taxes then you are an unpatriotic American.

QUOTE (Felix @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 08:41 AM) I hate the Twins as much, if not more, than anyone here, but Span has been great this year. I don't think he'll get the same recognition as Alexei or Longoria because he doesn't have the same playing time, but he really has had a hell of a season. For comparisons sake: Span: .295/.384/.433/.817 in 305 AB Alexei: .298/.320/.480/.800 in 440 AB I wont deny that Span has been great, but i dont feel he's been better than Alexei. Their splits are fairly similar, but Alexei has had 135 more ABs, which shows he has sustained it longer. I know they have different roles (Span: leadoff; Alexei: run producer) but I just feel you need to acknowledge Ramirez' HR and RBI total here. Also, I dont know about Span's defense but Alexei has been great and has made a few phenomenal plays this year. If you want to make an argument for Galaraga i'd be more willing to listen, but i really do feel Alexei should be #2 in ROY voting. I'd go: 1) Longoria 2) Ramirez 3) Galaraga 4) Aviles 5) Span

Late September and I really should be back in school
ChiSox_Sonix replied to Texsox's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I'm following baseball more just b/c the white sox are in first and the Chiefs and Seminoles suck. Otherwise, it'd be at least split, with football getting more attention if the Sox were out of it -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 08:12 AM) $300,000, but I don't believe he was in the Appy League. He was in GF who play in the Pioneer League

QUOTE (frankiethefixer @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 03:20 AM) 1. Gordon Beckman 2. Aarron Poreda 3. Chris Getz 4. John Shelby 5. Dexter Carter 6. Justin Cassel 7. Jose Martinez 8. Jordon Danks 9. Brandon Allen 10. Tyler Kuhn Getz is probably a little to high IMO. I would still include Fields in the 8-10 range and I'd add Daniel Hudson over Tyler Kuhn. Also, flip Allen and Martinez

QUOTE (Felix @ Sep 17, 2008 -> 03:07 PM) Oh, and while Alexei has been great this year, he's the third second best offensive option for Rookie of the Year. Both Longoria and Denard Span hasve been better. Fixed

QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Sep 18, 2008 -> 01:48 AM) Royals are on a 6 game winning streak, they've won 7 of their last 10 games :/ They're still the royals
