  1. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Nov 6, 2008 -> 11:47 AM) Fox News reports that during her prep for the debate... she didnt know Africa was a continent... she thought it was a country. I've heard that, but I find it truly hard to believe. The GOP is probably trying to really to discredit her even more so there is no chance she thinks about running in 2012. I just have a hard time believing any 44 year old with any sort of decent education or IQ is not aware that Africa is a continent and not a country.
  2. QUOTE (lostfan @ Nov 5, 2008 -> 03:49 PM) I would still go in the polling place past them and cast a ballot for Obama. I'd act like they weren't there. I would as well. I just think the goal of each scenario is similar enough where they can be compared to each other. And I think thats what ss2k was trying to do
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 5, 2008 -> 03:16 PM) I found it interesting that the day after Obama wins, Russia announces this, and that Hamas and Israel started attacking each other again. I immediately thought the same thing. I dont think its a coincidence. There's many reasons many groups in other countries wanted Obama to win.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 5, 2008 -> 03:41 PM) Egging on stuff? OK, if that is egging someone on, please feel free to have me suspended. If I have broke the rules, I have no problem paying the price. I believe any desired effect of Black Panthers hanging out in front of a polling place of a predominantly black area would be roughly equivalent to the same desired effect of KKK members standing outside of a polling station of a predominantly white area
  5. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Nov 5, 2008 -> 10:05 AM) So, Obama is the next president... what REALLY gets done. Not what he wants to get done, what actually gets done. I think in no particular order: Net Neutrality Troops out of Iraq I wouldnt really call troops out of Iraq much of a "change" considering a withdrawal in 2011 was pretty much already established. Also, Obama has recently recognized that an immediate withdrawal is just not plausible This should be priority number 1. This is also one of the few areas I agree with him with. I do trust he will push forth much needed alternative energy plans/policies This one will take a while, IMO, it will be a very complicated undertaking. And the universal part I dont think will happen (at least I hope not)
  6. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Nov 5, 2008 -> 12:20 PM) Obama needs to change the way about fighting the Afghanistan war. We need to do something different otherwise we will end up just like the USSR. That's more something for generals to discuss isnt it? Unless i'm missing your point What does this mean?
  7. QUOTE (longshot7 @ Nov 4, 2008 -> 05:32 PM) You wouldn't want the Sox to win another title even if they were cheating and couldn't be caught? If i knew for a fact they were cheating, I would be ashamed to root for them. I probably wouldnt outright root for them to fail, but any rooting for success would be greatly tempered. I'd probably root hardest for them to be caught.
  8. QUOTE (longshot7 @ Nov 4, 2008 -> 04:25 PM) Maybe you misunderstand me. Do people not compromise their morals in order to get what they want? For example, people are quick to condemn cheating, but if an undetectable drug existed that allowed a Sox player to hit 100 hrs in a season and propel them to another title, wouldn't fans root for this player regardless? That's all I'm saying. Cheating is fine if you agree with it. I'd venture to guess the majority of people on this site would vehemently disagree with that statement
  9. Its so hard trying to explain this to all of my yankee friends who are in love with the guy. It was a joke he ever won a GG. That ballerina hop he does is b/c he HAS to due to his lack of range. That "best catch ever" the media awards him when he made diving into the stands wouldnt have been necessary if he had better range. This isnt diminshing him as a player at all, which they accuse me of, its a statement of fact that he is a mediocre defensive SS.
  10. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Nov 4, 2008 -> 02:36 PM) what a coincidence! Virginia and Penn. Truly the strangest of all coincidences. Nah it's not a coincidence, it's another GOP conspiracy
  11. QUOTE (Steff @ Nov 4, 2008 -> 01:58 PM) Attempting to sway voters to vote the way they want them to. I see what you're trying to say, though since they weren't stopping anyone from voting I don't agree with it. Fair enough.
  12. QUOTE (Steff @ Nov 4, 2008 -> 01:47 PM) Seriously? How is the action of both the same? One stops you from being able to vote the other attempts to sway your vote. Ok so technically yes, they are different, but the idea is essentially the same. And I believe AHB said something like there were reports of Repubs trying to block votes. What would be the goal of Black Panthers standing in the doorway to a voting building with nightsticks? I just feel it is essentially the same thing, because the goal is essentially the same. And without details about the Philly incident, you dont know. One could make an argument that standing in a doorway with nightsticks would fall under the phrase "xxxxxx is trying to suppress votes in xxxxxx" too. Thats all i'm trying to say.
  13. QUOTE (Steff @ Nov 4, 2008 -> 01:43 PM) And I agree with your point. However blocking and intimidating are 2 very different things. If the purpose of them both is to attempt to keep the "other side" away from voting, how are they different?
  14. QUOTE (Soxy @ Nov 4, 2008 -> 12:45 PM) Are you in Acuari or Hinchey's district? I moved to U-E, and was surprised by how Italian my ballot was. I voted mostly Dem. Republican on a few local offices. I never vote in uncontested races. Arcuri. And Fiala is the county exec in my district And ya, you'll get that in Endicott
  15. I was actually pretty disappointed that I only had three decisions to make. I voted GOP across the board but aside from president there were only two other contested seats. Amazingly, there were only three Dems running (two were incumbents) and probably 5 or 6 republicans unopposed. A congressman and county executive were the two I voted out. Kind of curious as to why so many offices were unopposed this election
  16. QUOTE (lostfan @ Nov 4, 2008 -> 09:37 AM) Is your area densely populated? When I was there, everybody seemed to be in a pretty good mood, lots of people smiling. When I left, the line started to die down some because everybody was trying to get in before work. Not really, but we do have kinda a lot of voting places considering and my district is really small. And to G&T, we have the lever's too.
  17. QUOTE (lostfan @ Nov 4, 2008 -> 09:02 AM) I just voted on my way to work. It was crazy stuff, my wait was a good hour. Wow, i was lucky, 5 minutes this morning when they first opened in and out
  18. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Oct 24, 2008 -> 03:55 PM) 1st Soxtalk vote for Bob Barr I almost voted for him like i did Bednarik last time but i figured i'd stick with McCain even though a non-democrat vote in NY is worthless
  19. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 4, 2008 -> 12:42 AM) Can we cut it with this crap? There are plenty of older Wii owners on this board. Statistically the average Wii owner is older than the 360 owner and the Wii has more units within the 18-24 demographic than either PS3 of 360. I would agree with him that the Wii is not as fun as other systems in general. But that is just MY opinion. My reasons are b/c the game selection, IMO, isnt as good, graphics are obviously not even close, and I personally use my console for stuff other than gaming. However, despite that fact that I would never buy a Wii for myself, I absolutely love going over to friends houses and playing it in a group. IMO it is a great "group play" system, I'm just not in love with it for the solo/online play. I'd actually argue that it isnt even a direct comparison to 360/PS3 b/c it targets an entirely different kind of gamer and experience
  20. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Nov 3, 2008 -> 03:48 PM) So to lighten up the mood a little, Obama Girl is performing in NYC tomorrow night. Would be an interesting event to go to on Election Night I would imagine. Am I ridiculously ignorant if I need to ask who "Obama Girl" is?
  21. QUOTE (bschmaranz @ Nov 3, 2008 -> 03:01 PM) http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3680365 Is anyone as shocked as he was to hear this news? I actually expected it, especially after CC rejected their offer. Not really any of other viable choice if they let him go outside of trading for someone.
  22. QUOTE (Reddy @ Nov 2, 2008 -> 08:26 PM) what an arrogant mutherf***er. You know what, I think it'd be pretty cool to get an autographed picture from someone who will be in the HoF one day. That'll last someone a lifetime.
  23. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 3, 2008 -> 12:47 PM) Maybe for crappy journalism? He wrote an article about a talk show radio host reading part of another chain email about Obama. There are no sources, either for claims of what Obama said or for the "facts" that are "revealed." He didn't do any research to actually verify the claims. http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/50lies.asp I was sent a link to the newspaper article online, thats how i found it...i just assumed, having it come from a newspaper, that it was probably okay. Who knows how much is BS and what is fact.
  24. I think he's voting McCain, but he may just be trying to be sly and hope thats what people think when he really is voting for Obama.
  25. Article I found by someone listing a list of 39 "half truths" Obama has said. It was brought up by an LA radio host named Terry Anderson http://www.postchronicle.com/commentary/ar...212172140.shtml
