  1. I just laugh when i hear people complain about the suffering of Iraqis now, totally ignoring the facts about what life was like under Saddam... Anyways, I dont care how you feel about GWB. The fact of the matter is he is the president of the united states of the america and there was an attempted assault on him on foreign soil. I hope he gets punished to the fullest extent of Iraqi law (which, from what I read could be 2-7 years).
  2. I watched that Syracuse game live and when that shot went in there was a definite wtf moment. Like did that actually just happen? As a Uconn fan, its always a pleasure seeing them lose
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 15, 2008 -> 10:24 AM) Last 13 starts for Livan Hernandez. 73 2/3 IP, 119 H, 6.96 ERA (Twins go 6-7 in those games) Last 11 starts for Francisco Liriano Liriano goes 6-1 And you conveniently forgot to add the Twins record of 6-5 in Liriano's last 11 starts. Not much of an overall difference from Livans last 11 games where the Twins went 5-6.
  4. I saw "Report: Sox Sign" and thought we actually did something. Annoying.
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 12, 2008 -> 02:31 PM) yeah I think the fact of his health means he's a no go. Otherwise, if we were to face this season with Owens actually being our CF...then clearly I'd prefer Taveras. I think the fact that he was almost dealt for Tim Redding should mean he's a no go
  6. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 09:52 PM) He and Jenks are the only arbitration eligible players on the roster guaranteed to be tendered a contract, Wise and Carrasco are also eligible but are likely candidates to be cut loose tomorrow night. I imagine Jenks will get something like $5.2M. I really wouldnt mind hanging on to either of them
  7. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 04:05 PM) I wish you would let us search member's posts again. That and search the forum for old threads. [/hijack]
  8. QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 02:07 PM) First off, why aren't we considering keeping dye and signing abreu? LF-TCQ CF-JD RF-Bobby A Just kidding. haha i almost freaked out for a second He has a pretty decent arm. Above average. Correct
  9. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 12:41 PM) K Dub has been passed out the entire time in Vegas. Yup, thats the reason...
  10. As someone said, Dye > Abreu but Abreu + Bailey > Dye
  11. This doesnt bother me b/c the Sox werent going after him. There is no way AJ Burnett would stay injury free and there is no way he all of a sudden harnesses his erraticness (word?) pitching in NY. Still, what an atrocious contract. The Yankee$ really do suck.
  12. But i thought the sky was falling and KW had his head too far up his ass to notice? How is this possible?
  13. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 08:55 AM) KW has the best job in the world and he spends the afternoon watching tv. OMG! Fire him! He isnt doing his job!
  14. QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 10, 2008 -> 03:50 PM) How is Broadway a bust? Because he's never really been given a chance and since he will not be a #1/2 pitcher and people drafted behind him by other teams have panned out better/quicker he must suck.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 10, 2008 -> 01:50 PM) You'll be happy to know that if the Cubs don't trade Marshall in the Peavy deal, they'll use him to get Hermida from the Marlins. Hendry really must have naked pictures of these other GMs he deals with, as I can't believe teams actually want Jason Marquis. The Marlins already shed some salary, they dont need to trade Hermida anymore. Also, i'm pretty comfortable with their trading history to believe they wouldnt trade someone as coveted as him for that kind of crap.
  16. QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Dec 10, 2008 -> 02:34 PM) True, but they generally weren't hitting back to back right? HR leads off, while MC bats third, right? He started batting 3rd the last couple months.
  17. QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Dec 10, 2008 -> 12:39 PM) I feel like the majority of the time walks are attributed to the "good eye" of the batter. However, I think almost as often walks should be attributed to the player's reputation of power just as much if not more than their "good eye". For example, in '07, Hanley Ramirez showed that he can hit for not just some power, but good power by slamming 29 HRs over the course of the season. As this reputation for power became well known by everyone by '08, Hanley started to gain walks. He went from 52 walks in '07 to 92 walks in '08. Did he simply get that much better as judging when to swing? Or could that have been because his reputation changed from a speedy leadoff hitter to the best power hitter on the team, making pitchers want to work around the strike zone more in avoidance of the long ball? The reason HanRam's walks went up is simple...Cabrera no longer hit behind him
  18. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 10, 2008 -> 12:53 PM) Johan Santana is the greatest Rule 5 pick in history. ^^^ That. Shame on the Marlins for trading him afterwards though
  19. QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Dec 10, 2008 -> 11:17 AM) If you had Jay Bruce, would you trade him for Hanley? Without hesitation. The only player I would have to think about and possibly say no about is Pujols
  20. I'd trade pretty much anyone in baseball for Hanley Ramirez straight up
  21. For the record, the only outstanding challenge in a court to his citizenship is from a man also protesting John McCain's citizenship
