A 93-year-old man froze to death inside his home
ChiSox_Sonix replied to Texsox's topic in The Filibuster
The man knew what he was doing. I'm not trying to be callous or inconsiderate but the law is the law. If he wasnt paying for his electrical service why should he be receiving it? It's unfortunate but it is not the electrical companies fault. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 22, 2009 -> 10:41 PM) Obama's nominee for Director of National Intelligence refuses to call waterboarding torture. Good QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 22, 2009 -> 11:10 PM) Not worried about it, he said there'd be no waterboarding on his watch, as long as he and his boss are on the same page with what's supposed to happen I don't care what his personal views are. Honestly if we're gonna do shady stuff like that it really should be classified and we the public should never find out. Agreed, stuff like this should never come to the public attention. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jan 22, 2009 -> 11:17 PM) DING DING DING DING DING DING DING, and DING! I can't underscore what a problem I have with this stuff being disclosed in the first place.

QUOTE (shipps @ Jan 20, 2009 -> 04:47 PM) All the Obama love around this place (meaning my job) is really getting to be overdone. I supported him and voted for him but cmon already people he isnt the answer TO EVERY ONE OF YOUR PROBLEMS. Thats what a lot of liberals I know and see on TV dont get. When someone who did not support Obama mocks him by calling him a rock star or the messiah or anything along those lines, it isnt so much because there is a hatred towards the person Obama is, or even the policies and agenda he supports. Its the "love-fest" that has been hovering around him and that has been perpetuated by a lot of the MSM and the drooling, in your face support he has been getting everywhere you go. I signed on to facebook an hour or so ago and saw in the newsfeed probably 15-20 of my friends from college with status's like "Obama is here", "Change, change, change!", "We are saved"....i mean I get it, your guy won, but it is just ridiculous. Some of my friends truly believe he is going to fix every problem they have like a magician. I dont remember anywhere near any of this when GWB was elected the first time (its totally understandable why we never saw it the second time)

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 20, 2009 -> 11:55 AM) So if GWB died right now would Biden be president for a few minutes? You know i was actually wondering that this morning. Is there ever any time today when there is technically no president for a minute or two?

QUOTE (Texsox @ Jan 19, 2009 -> 10:22 AM) Stuff owns me. I can not seem to throw stuff away. It isn't to the point where I'm some weird recluse. However, it is stuff like coffee mugs. Besides a set "for company", I have mugs from Scouting events, House of Reps, US Chess Federation, several colleges and clubs, and stuff like that. I don't need them, I only use one or two, but I just can't bring myself to toss them in the garbage. I have at least 50 t-shirts, I could toss out 40 and be just fien for covering my gut, but instead I leave them taking up space in my dresser. I have my spikes from college. I'm never going to wear them.

I stopped at a gas station saturday night to grab some beer and when i got to the counter I saw Barack Obama t-shirts, Barack Obama playing cards and President Obama trading cards. I just shook my head and laughed.

Marlins/Blue Jays interested in O Cab
ChiSox_Sonix replied to bighurt4life's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 15, 2009 -> 08:50 AM) Where would they play Uggla? 32 homers ,.360 OBP, a fraction of the cost of Cabrera and Cabrera now has the reputation of being a "me" guy and the Marlins probably don't want to surrender their first round pick. I don't see any way this happens. Hanley Ramirez BTW is a brutal SS defensively. Brutal. It would really be something if OC was moved to 2B because of him. The Marlins would like to trade Uggla but havent been getting the interest they expected. Also, there has been some talk of moving Hanley to 3B b/c his defense at SS hasnt progressed as they'd like it to. -
QUOTE (TheBlackSox8 @ Jan 13, 2009 -> 11:17 PM) think i saw 4 more episodes or something...should just have a 2 hour series finale. I think i heard there will be about 6 episodes (which may or may include the 2 hour series finale that is planned) starting mid-April. So there will be a conclusion. There have been a lot of detractors of the show since the first season but it still has entertained me even up to now. I'll be somewhat sad to see it go

There's nothing wrong with pre-gaming for an open bar However, you are an idiot for opening a tab while at an open bar b/c you dont like the liquor selection (I have a friend who once did this, we then relentlessly mocked him to this day)

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jan 12, 2009 -> 03:16 PM) Derek Jeter would be a surefire 1st ballot inductee if he retired right now. Only because he is Derek Jeter, plays for the Yankee$, is nauseatingly beloved by the media and is the best player ever (dont forget "Mr November"). NOT because he is worthy of being a 1st ballot HoF'er

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 12, 2009 -> 01:29 PM) As I recall, a hijacker did this once in the US. Hijacked a cargo jet or something, got some money somehow (at a stop maybe), and then later parachuted out of the plane. And wasn't ever found. D.B. Cooper?
