  1. QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Dec 9, 2008 -> 03:11 PM) OAK is supposedly interested. Not a team we want to sign him. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/8916168 Interest supposedly mild, however
  2. I listen to Mike and Mike 90% of the time with the occasional ride to work listening to Howard
  3. QUOTE (SmashROT @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 05:59 PM) Can his mustache alone make the hall of fame? One can only hope
  4. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 03:49 PM) my prediction: we don't sign furcal or hudson, nor do we give any money to penny, lowe, or sheets rebuilding year, with untradable veterans playing out their final seasons with the Sox (Konerko, Thome, possibly AJ, Buerhle) i hope Kenny has some blockbuster deals planned though to prove my predictions wrong I have a hard time believing KW, Oz and JR would ever go for a full out rebuild, especially on the heels of a division win. As for Penny and Sheets I wouldnt want us targeting them anyways. Lowe, yes, but he's not coming here.
  5. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 03:23 PM) I'm just glad we never moved Dye for Willy Mo Pena at the deadline in 07, regardless of what happens. Wasnt the rumor for Willy Mo AND Masterson? I dont remember but i remember a pitcher being rumored. That being said, what a relief it is that that trade never happened. On the Dye-Bailey rumor, i'm not sure what to think. Dye has been arguably the most underrated OF in baseball the past 4 years. He has done wonders for our team and is one of KWs best moves. However, he is getting older and who knows how much longer he will remain this productive for us. Moving him one year too early is better than one year too late, IMO. Plus, the idea of getting someone with the potential of a Homer Bailey is definitely intriguing. I'd say i'm on the fence about the trade if there is actual merit in it. Regardless, it would be tough seeing JD mashing for another team next year, no matter what the return for him may possibly be.
  6. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Dec 7, 2008 -> 01:43 PM) What am I missing here? Did UConn play an NBA team in Buffalo? How is playing at Buffalo a tough road test? I'm scratching my head over this one. Please enlighten me. Pitt escaped last year with only a 2 point victory there IIRC.
  7. QUOTE (Texsox @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 11:04 AM) Before you go down that path, are you certain you can't connect your ohone directly to your computer and download them from your computer? Even some pretty basic phones have that capability. I could, but this is much, much easier. Otherwise, I'd have to download the song from somewhere or upload it from a CD, then download a program to chop the songs up, figure out what I want and do it. I'd much prefer to find one already and type in my phone number and have it sent.
  8. I saw a thread on here a while ago about this but I cant find it. I know there are websites where you can take clips of songs and have them sent to your phone. I know some require subscriptions and some are free. Does anyone have any recommendations for good sites, preferably free? I just got a new phone so i need to spice it up a lil bit haha
  9. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Dec 5, 2008 -> 10:54 AM) No, it's good. You can even buy it already mixed. Evan Williams sells a bottle. I was out in Arizona last week and saw that in a liquor store. I almost bought it but I wasnt sure how that would be so I passed
  10. Avery suspended for 6 games. What a f***ing joke the NHL and Gary Bettman have become. He shouldn't have even been fined, let alone suspended to begin with. An Isle throws an elbow to the head of a Senator and knocks him out with a concussion for three weeks and gets 5 games. Avery says "sloppy seconds" and gets 6. WOWWWWWW I hate the new NHL. I wish they would turn back the clock 15 years and/or get Buttman out of office
  11. Eggnog milkshakes at McDonalds, mmmmm.....
  12. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 09:34 PM) I nearly had a heart attack. That was too close. Its a good first road test though. They're gonna have a lot tougher this year with games against GT, 'Nova, Pitt etc...
  13. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 02:30 PM) You do realize that my response was intended as humor, right? It was an exact quote from the song you just quoted. Ha no i dont recall hearing that. My bad. My favorite song is the most beautiful girl in the room song
  14. QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 1, 2008 -> 06:20 PM) Gillette Fusion Power Phenom...I love it. ^^^ That
  15. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 01:26 PM) Why? Why? Why exactly? Be more constructive with your feedback please. Lighten up. I, too, agree that Flight of the Conchords is hilarious. I love their songs. "I'm the hiphiphoppatums, my rhymes are bottomless..."
  16. UNC looks amazing. MSU did commit a ton of bad turnovers though but if people really think UCONN, Pitt, Lousiville, OU and Duke are the top teams in the country, I dont see how UNC will lose.
  17. QUOTE (chunk23 @ Dec 3, 2008 -> 04:21 PM) You didn't get the memo. Silverio is a bum and a result of Wilder's corruption. He won't amount to anything. That is far from certain. Someone his age, even if he is a couple years older can not be judged based on 1 season of rookie ball. And in case you missed it, there were several other teams after him as well. I wont pass judgment on him being "a bum" until he gets a little more of a chance.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 3, 2008 -> 05:49 AM) Even more impressive is the list of names fighting to get on the list. Clayton Richard Link, who some consider to be our future closer. Russell, who was once a Top 10 Sox prospect, close to Top 5. Nix (not sure if he'd qualify anyway) Marquez Broadway McCulloch Nunez maybe Gilmore Santos Egbert Hudson Carter Rodriguez Cole Armstrong M. Gartrell And then there are guys who are coming back from injury or are still very young such as Harrell, Ely, Silverio, Jose Martinez, and Escobar Our farm system all of a sudden seems to have players with potential all over the place now.
  19. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 09:30 AM) yeah, you know like "in between two things". like ham in a ham samwich. haha kinda like a sandwich huh?
  20. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Dec 2, 2008 -> 09:05 AM) WTF are we talking about here?? Odds of getting a good player with a samwich pick are like 10%. Odds of getting a good player w/o a samwich pick are like 0%. A samwich pick gets $1 million tops. so you draft 10 of them for $10 mil and odds are you get one good player. Sounds like a good gamble to me. I'm just trying to figure out whether you actually believe they are called 'samwich' picks
  21. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Dec 1, 2008 -> 10:53 PM) Um, actually that's the only thing that could make it a decent deal. That's also assuming the Sox use those picks to get somebody worth a damn. Actually, it was already a better than decent deal
  22. I had polls too but they must have been removed in the merge since i created two threads on accident...
  23. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Dec 1, 2008 -> 04:50 PM) A Christmas Story should, and likely will be, #1. Not for me. I've seen that so many times now that I cant bear the thought of watching it anymore.
  24. Eligible are: • Harold Baines • Jay Bell • Bert Blyleven • David Cone • Andre Dawson • Ron Gant • Mark Grace • Rickey Henderson • Tommy John • Don Mattingly • Mark McGwire • Jack Morris • Dale Murphy • Jesse Orosco • Dave Parker • Dan Plesac • Tim Raines • Jim Rice • Lee Smith • Alan Trammell • Greg Vaughn • Mo Vaughn • Matt Williams I'd vote for Blyleven, Henderson, Raines, Rice and Smith My gut tells me only Henderson and Rice will get in
  25. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 23, 2008 -> 12:37 AM) This is going to be a rough year for college basketball in my opinion. The freshman suck, the 2009 NBA draft class sucks, and even a lot of the top players (here's looking at you Tyler Hansbrough, Hasheem Thabeet, Kyle Singler, Luke Harangody, etc) are guys that have little to no shot at being worth a damn at the next level, something that sticks in my mind if I watch a guy who is a great college player. I dont know how you can throw Thabeet in there. He's 7'3", has been playing basketball for about 5 or 6 years, is remarkably athletic for someone his size, has put on weight and muscle in each of the past two years, and has been touted by Calhoun as a player who has improved season to season moreso than anyone he has ever coached. He has a knack for blocking shots with timing, not just his height, and for a big guy, he actually shoots FTs at a ~70% clip which shows he has some touch. IMO, i'd say Thabeet has a legit chance of becoming an NBA regular. He will only get better.
