I would love to hear more about the 403(b) and your last post on healthcare. Very interesting stuff.

This is the kind of reason why I feel the Filibuster should come back. To debate and discuss is one thing but to flame and bash is another thing. As an independent moderate who is passionate about politics I have heard from the most liberal and conservative people and though I don’t always agree, it is healthy to have these discussions if done in a respectful way. I’m glad both of you guys got to talk things out over PMs. That might be our only option for political talk on this site.

True and pensions are definitely a tough issue, even though I am worried my wife won’t ever see her pension because of the unfunded pensions in Illinois, the loopholes in how people can get them from multiple jobs (retired from one, working another) and the fact that the state can’t reduce the 3% COLA or change benefits. My concern is mostly with these reasons and the administrators, along with those leaving the state. So I guess we will have to contribute to an IRA or 403(b) for her retirement. Benefits are definitely a fascinating topic even if they are debatable in Illinois.

The cost and the benefits that unions bargained for their members. My wife is a teacher and I work in insurance, so I have a bit of an idea on what schools and union employees get. These benefits matter.

Betts to Dodgers
Better than whining after the offseason they had, and I didn’t like the Mazara trade. Long story short, they probably didn’t have anything to give up to get Betts and Hahn probably didn’t want to give up something for Joc in the short term.

Betts to Dodgers
Then let’s get the Wahmbulance out here.

Betts to Dodgers
Exactly. Betts wasn’t going to happen and who knows if Peterson’s asking price was a king’s ransom that they couldn’t meet?

Betts to Dodgers
SoxFest came and went. Why don’t you write to the front office or call 670 and complain? We don’t know what has been going on behind the scenes.

Betts to Dodgers
And some Sox fans need to get the fuck over it.

Betts to Dodgers
I’m sure Hahn would have given up Kopech for Pederson. #Green What makes you think Hahn won’t make an acquisition at the trade deadline?
-
Betts to Dodgers
Why the fuck would fans start b****ing? The White Sox had a great offseason and Betts wasn’t happening.

What is in a personnel file? Also, what can new employers ask former employers about?

Sports Media Discussion
That’s tough to see. At least he has his work at 670 and he can write elsewhere. Journalism is a tough career to be in for a lifetime.

NFL Thread 2019-2020
https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/news/2020-nfl-draft-chicago-bears-team-needs-draft-picks-prospects-to-watch/ This made it seem like they had two fifth round picks, unless I missed something. I wonder how the compensatory pick works, it has to do with the amount of free agents lost versus the ones signed? What do they do with Cohen if they draft a speed back and Montgomery is their bruiser?

NFL Thread 2019-2020
Round 2 - Pick 43 Round 2 - Pick 50 Round 4 - Late round compensatory pick? Round 5 - Pick 141 Round 5 - Pick 145 Round 6 - Pick 176 Round 6 - Pick 180 Round 7 - Pick 210 My guess is that they will use the first pick in the second round and trade back to recoup picks in later rounds. Offensive line would be high on my priority list as would TE. They do need more depth at DE and linebacker as well. And safety will be a position of need. They should pick up a quarterback like Mariota in free agency to effectively run Nagy’s offense. Realistically, the first idea isn’t an option until after this year. I doubt the McCaskey family will sell the team. I make him prove it and decline the fifth year option. Then again I don’t fully understand how the option works since they picked up Floyd’s and sports radio made it seem like they had a decision to make on Floyd this offseason. Maybe the Bears need to consider more prove it deals like Clinton Dix. I hope cutting Amukamara and Gabriel will help the cap issue as will some extensions or changing money into signing bonuses. Do they need a “bruiser” back to complement Montgomery that doesn’t suck like Davis? Cohen just doesn’t seem to fit as a running back.

NFL Thread 2019-2020
When the Trubisky, Nagy and Mahomes discussion subsides, what should be the solutions in the draft and offseason? Not specific to the quarterback position but are collectively about the team? What moves should they make? Who should they cut? Who should they sign or draft?

Ticket Codes
There used to be a Yelp thread with codes, but I think that has since been shut down. Now I just go through my ticket guy and get discounted tickets in the outfield for the games I want to go to. I never pay full price to go to the game.

Nest vs Ring
That is all I would need it for. And to upgrade our broken doorbell to something better.

Something I want everyone to know.
I agree and there should be a short leash. There should be good debates and if there are personal attacks, there should be quick suspensions. This is an important election and I would welcome substantive discussion on the issues.
-
Nest vs Ring
Is the $100 Ring still worth getting? I know it doesn’t have the capabilities of the other Ring doorbells but it would replace a non functioning door bell. Also, is there a monthly fee?

Something I want everyone to know.
Agreed with these posters. I especially liked reading threads where I could learn from people who knew more about issues than I did so that I could see things from different points of view. Heading into an election year, having the Filibuster would be great in terms of education and discussion. But I understand why it went away.

Top 10 baseball videogames
Yes, All Star Baseball 99 was in my top three, along with MVP 2005 and MLB the Show 2007. I loved the sounds tracks of the two PlayStation games too.
