  1. And yet, it’s each Sox fans’ choice to pour money into the team. I pay for cable and get at least 15 tickets for a group outing to celebrate my birthday. My desire to go to other games depends on their performance. If any of you are fans that are unhappy with ownership, the FO or the results on the field, don’t buy tickets, memorabilia, etc and don’t show up. It seems like we all will watch the games or listen to the radio to a certain extent. But stop supporting financially if you or others don’t approve of management of results. I remember where you stood the last couple of off seasons and at least you had analysis about what you wanted to see and why instead of bitching about the problem. I hoped that the Sox would perform like their baseball cards and I still remain optimistic, but I do think further change is needed to make things work. They may need to trade someone good to get better at an area of need. We should know more by the deadline unless Hahn does a weird Diekman trade or stands pat. This is where I am at too. He hasn’t even gone through one season and already people are bitching. He’s got a ball club without Anderson, Moncada or Hendriks right now. Imagine how the year would have started with everyone, including Hendriks.
  2. Probably. I’ll still bet anyone good money that they’ll win a game in April and frankly I think they’ll win a game in this series.
  3. Instead of a complete rebuild, I was thinking of the 2004-2005 moves that were made. Lee dealt, Magglio leaves, Contreras arrives and Hernandez arrives. If they are stuck with the owner and FO they have, why not figure out possible moves to retool at the deadline and offseason. Like, not specifically players to target but positions of need and what they could do about filling those roles. I would be thrilled if they moved on from and traded any number of guys from the team to get better. But not a rebuild, a retooling.
  4. I’m not a betting man, but I’ll bet you that they do.
  5. It’s better to say something basic than b**** about the FO and JR. Especially when it’s a fantasy that nobody is getting fired and the team is not being sold at the moment. I also think it’s good to add up these losses at the end of the year and see what they would do to the final standings.
  6. When I look back on this year, this will be a loss that they should have won. These hurt. It makes me wonder if Hendriks would have saved this game.
  7. Yep, I went to SAU to finish undergrad and enjoyed my time in the Quad Cities. I never did the Bix but lots of people I knew did. I don’t match up well with quant types. I am less interested in algorithms and think to be in data science you need to really like math. I prefer to code so I’m more interested in SQL, Power BI, Python and languages for development. I didn’t get a lot of exposure to those in my grad program as we primarily focused on using R and some SQL and Python. If I had the chance I would probably do something in healthcare analytics. It’s a good choice for kids to go into data science though, even if I would still recommend healthcare. My concern about going back to school again for something where I would need to do day time classes is that I need to work to pay for our living expenses so night school is only really possible. I have a feeling something in healthcare would need daytime classes though. Maybe in several years I could pursue it again when my son (and other kid we probably will have) gets older. I too never could get foreign language down in high school. I got Cs in Spanish in high school and only got a good enough grade because I did the homework and failed the exams. I did better in college because I took accelerated courses in Spanish at the community college which made it easier. But I can understand how you would prefer numbers and how you struggled in liberal arts classes. Would you ever consider being a business education teacher at a high school, specifically if you just needed a master’s in education or a teaching certificate to enter? Your life is a winding road, but is fascinating. What drew you to education? Is your house in China? How easy is it to get content from the U.S. in China? Your hobbies in baseball cards and memorabilia and politics are similar to mine! What did you end up doing for work?
  8. Is Clevinger hurt or was he just hit hard and Grifol pulled him?
  9. They really shouldn’t send Burger down when Moncada is back. Dude hits more home runs than the other clowns.
  10. You want Rick Hahn to do this at the deadline or in the offseason?
  11. Pushing for this year is all they can do at this point. This is what I don’t think people who want the team blown up understand very well. This isn’t the Chicago Bears. It’s the same owner who won’t fire his front office. It is also April 18 and not the trade deadline at all.
  12. Also, don’t look now but at this moment it is 5-4.
  13. I really want to see some power that we saw in the early 2000s. Some good hitting for base hits and home runs would do this team some good. I haven’t given up yet like other posters have. A ticket should be bought in the same spot and this should be hung at each game when the bullpen blows a lead or there is a bad loss.
  14. What good would come out of sucking? Letting players with club options go and retooling the team? That’s what I think Giolito and Lynn will return if they are dealt at the deadline. Assuming they don’t get out of this funk and continue to suck.
  15. What gave you the itch to try teaching again, what did you find hard around student teaching and why did you go into finance instead of education?
  16. Except I can’t see it happening. I’d wager that there won’t be many deadline dumps at the trade deadline. I think posters wanting another rebuild are going to be underwhelmed by the return they would get. This team is just not great as currently constructed and I hope Grifol has some say in how to retool this offseason. I doubt they would rebuild.
  17. What a bummer this team has been. Slow start and not enough good pitching and power.
  18. Get this game on the road. I can’t take too much more of fantasy football content on the flagship station. Connor did his best with rain delay theater.
  19. That’s totally fair. I was thinking more from an overall perspective and not a 2022 perspective. The jury is out but I think the new schedule will hurt a team like the White Sox.
  20. I see a continued trend from last year where they haven’t been able to put it together. Either they pitch well and don’t hit, or they hit well and don’t pitch and they rarely put the two together. At best, this team looks like a .500 team. They probably benefited from playing their division so much that they didn’t have to compete as much against the other divisions and that is how they could finish in second, just what JR’s philosophy is. Now that they have this new schedule, they just can’t keep pace with the other teams. The rest of the league got better, the Sox did not.
  21. The AAA guy didn’t throw the ball into right field though. And Moncada can’t deal with his injuries to play third right now.
  22. That’s what Bernstein and Holmes mentioned today. Not sure how true that is but it’s possible.
