I'm a little confused. I have been reading negative things about Ozzie calling for the intentional hit. It was a retaliation to feeling that AJ had been hit by the pitches (atleast one of them) intentionally. Shouldn't Buck be coming under fire for using a baseball as a weapon then? Why is it O.K. for one manager to call for the intentional hit, but not the other? If anything, Ozzie's call for it was the "safer" one since the batters should all have known it would be coming eventually. Whereas the first batter hit would have no idea they were going to be targeted. But I guess since Ozzie yelled at somebody it makes his "attack" on the batter all that much worse?

QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 03:56 PM) Kid are you the one that works in PR? We had a thread like this over the winter didn't we? Can we get the search fixed...??? As Critic said, no I am not in PR. I am though in the process of writing two books. One is the history of the Glam scene, covering all basis of the genre. The other is a biography on somebody. The biography though is still in the air somewhat though. As for the bit about "noted Glam scholar", that came about because when Rene Berg passed away (he was the replacement bassist in Hanoi Rocks when Sam Yaffa left, plus he was in a band before that and had a solo career after), it was known that I was trying to track the guy down. So some guy asked me for info on Rene. I told him what I knew. About a year later I was bouncing around the net, found a history on Rene, and at the end was my whole letter to the guy about Rene! The letter though was preceeded by a "Carl Isonhart, noted Glam scholar, said this about Rene:", to which I lost it and found something to laugh about for days. I still find it funny and use the title whenever I can. In a strange way though, I think I just might do some PR for bands, I just don't get paid for it and I don't actually try to do it...

Depends on your idea of "famous". Stiv Bators (read my recent blog entry at my site right now for this whole story...it's a long read. Brian Baker numerous times Pat Dubar Wattie (he told me to "f*** off", which was special) Carcass Axl Rose In one night I hung out with The Dogs D'Amour and all of Mother Love Bone There are many others that I am forgetting now. I am also in touch with a ton of musicians now days for certain projects and things I am working on. Those listed are just the ones from "before the internet", when meeting these people was a little tougher.

Tribune boasts Cell Phone as Breakthrough Technology
Kid Gleason replied to Hangar18's topic in The Diamond Club
Which means post no. 3 would get to go. Damn, somebody dragged this off-topic pretty quick. My first post did go onto topic and covered a few things mentioned. -

No, some of you were down his throat with the first replies. The replies in his threads were ugly right off the bat. No chance for people un-familiar with his stuff to decide for ourselves. Hell, your using his real name in your very first reply to him said all I needed to know. -

I'm not a supporter, I just find it ridiculous how much he seems to piss off certain people. -
I was in Little League, played pitcher and catcher. I was damn good in Little League. When I moved on to 13 year-old league (stop off before Babe Ruth League), my manager and coach let their kids play any position they wanted. I got stuck in right field while thier hoser kids pitched and caught. We didn't come close to winning a single game since their kids gave up hundreds of runs. Our team gave up trying finally. It became the most unruley team you could imagine. Smoking in the dug-out, swearing at the umps, everybody getting kicked out of a game at one time or another, hitting the batters instead of the intentional walk, tripping baserunners, etc. We made the Bad News Bears look like angels. My parents stopped going to games due to being disgusted by the team as a whole. At the end of the final game when my parents got to the game I told them I was done with the sport. I joined Martial Arts instead where it was all up to me as to how good I got and how successful I was. I also took my guitar more seriously. This was in '83. I didn't watch baseball again until '95. I didn't pick up my glove again until 3 years ago when my daughter joined Softball and I became her coach.

Tribune boasts Cell Phone as Breakthrough Technology
Kid Gleason replied to Hangar18's topic in The Diamond Club
I heard them make fun of this on the radio yesterday and kind of slam the Cubs and the Tribune for trying to make a big deal out of it. I didn't listen long enough to hear if any of you called up to attack them also. Seriously, you folks and your endless attacks on Hangar are getting ridiculous. I have no idea what he did on that other site, as I don't visit it ever, but this is one long personal attack and the ones coming across poorly are the attackers, and not Hangar. This is in the eyes of a person who does not know all the ugly things. But I have yet to see him start "s***" with any of you, but you all continuously go after him. This is a message board, and a great amount of the crap posted here are personal opinions. I know he is posting "facts" and many of you question his idea of "facts", but you come across like he is attacking your family history. It's really ridiculous. I bet I could back the KKK in that thread in the Filibuster and get less flack than Hangar gets. For the record, I think the "revolutionary" idea of the cell phones (is it cell phone use or is it that annoying Nextel chirping "walkie-talkie" crap?) is a bit of a joke. I don't know why it is being talked about in as many places as it is. Also for the record, aluminum bats aren't used I believe because of the danger that comes with them. I know they are used in college, but does anybody really want to be on the recieving end of a Barry Bonds/Frank Thomas line drive to third? Or in the stands as one of those shoot off the bat right on a baseline? We see injuries often enough in the stands and MLB knows the injuries would escalate with the aluminum used. -
OFFICIAL GO CUBBIES THIS WEEKEND THREAD!!!
Kid Gleason replied to whitesoxfan101's topic in The Diamond Club
This weekend the Cubs are my second favorite team. GO CUBS!!! Heck, I might even ask to borrow a Cubs hat from my boss this weekend. -
QUOTE(bmags @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 06:10 PM) i just ordered that from the library... It's really good. No doubt about it, Bangs could write. Then when you realize he only did 1st drafts it's that much more impressive. But his writing got me to get the album the book was named after. Good stuff.

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 09:59 PM) I have many favorites. Two that come to mind immediately are Carlin and Steven Wright. Many others have been mentioned. One comedian this thread reminded me of is a guy I saw maybe 15 years ago. His name is Chris Bliss. I remember two things about him.... His act involved the crowd a lot, talking to people, asking them personal questions and making jokes off of that info. About 30 minutes into his show, a girl walked in late to join her friends, who were seated right up front. He stopped the show, made fun of her for just getting there and then decided to help her out. He said he would recap the show so far. He then proceeded to rattle everything he had discussed in a matter of a minute or two. He mentioned everyone in the audience he had interacted with and told her what they said and called them by name. All in the exact order it happened. This was not a canned act so this recap was unbelievable. The second and most impressive thing about him is he ends his act juggling like you have never seen before. Click on the link below to see his performance. Trust me it is worth the look. Chris Bliss Juggling - Take the Time to Watch! That's really friggin' cool! The first part sounds familiar, but I have never seen his juggling. As for David Cross, he scares me. He's hysterical, no doubt about it, but he's one of those guys I would be afraid to meet. You just know that if you make one mistake or say something stupid he had the ability to just humiliate you in no time and leave you a wimpering mess.

My neighbors have one and it works great. I have a dog, they have two dogs. Their dogs are overly friendly and love to run up to people, but they never cross the fence line and stay about 5' away from the line. Problem is that other neighbors, when walking down the street not knowing there is an invisible fence there, get a little scared when this bog ol' dog comes running at them barking. We have actually had one annoying neighbor send out a neighborhood complaint letter about it. But their dogs have never crossed the fence. Unlike the pitbull we have in the neighborhood that runs wild quite often. But that pooch never got a complaint letter. Someday I will install one after seeing how well they do work with my neighbors dogs.

Hangar18's Chicago NewsMedia Watch Thread

This is a crazy thread. I see very little "media watching", but a whole bunch of people getting pissed about something rather silly. -
Should the KKK be allowed to protest at historical sites?
Kid Gleason replied to BHAMBARONS's topic in The Filibuster
Shouldn't this thread be merged with the "Favorite Comedians" thread??? -
It's so hard to actually find a "favorite". Even Jay Leno was great when he was stand-up only. But the ones I really love: Bobcat Goldthwait Eddie Izzard The Amazing Johnathan Dennis Miller (the old stuff, haven't heard him recently) Jerry Seinfeld Lewis Black Jon Stewart Steven Wright John DiCrosta (saw him in Vegas recently and he was killing me! His bot on Zamfir is hysterical, especially with visuals) Mitch Hedburg had brilliant material but I am not a fan of the delivery. He always sounded like he was reading cue cards.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 13, 2006 -> 10:14 AM) Myspace is for stalkers from what I see, that and people who dont have the ability to talk with other people face to face. Or for people who can't speak face to face since those other people are in the UK, Japan, Norway, Sweden, Germany, etc... I used My Space for the whole "networking" thing and band promotion, and I check all of the people that request from me and will NOT post the porn type of people and crap. But it is creepy if you let your page fall into that direction.

I'm listening to the new New York Dolls , One Day It Will Please Us To Remember Even This CD right now. If it wasn't for all the things I don't like about the re-union of this band, I would love this album so far. It doesn't have the wreckless side of the ol' Dolls, but it is a great straight up RnR release. This may have been how they would have sounded without all of the minor abuse problems. I guess for the sake of Johansen, Sylvain, and Sami Yaffa that this is a success. But I know Johnny T. and Jerry N. are waiting on the otherside to kick the living crap out of everybody involved.

Anyone else collect the Silver Screen Edition figures?
Kid Gleason replied to Queen Prawn's topic in SLaM
I have the Gill Man, both in the Silver Screen version and in the clear green version. I have all of the little big head's in the silver screen versions. I also have the Frankenstein monster in the 12" version. The problem with those figures is that they are really hard to find and there is always one that is the "rare" version, and to my dismay it is always the Creature. Great figures, but too much of a pain to try and collect all of, IMO. -
Hangar18's Chicago NewsMedia Watch Thread
Kid Gleason replied to Hangar18's topic in The Diamond Club
I don't get why this bothers some people that Hangar does this. If his doing this is a "black eye" on fans, or an example of Sox fans being whiners, I would guess that not everybody is going to use him as an example, as with any fanbase, you get a person running all sorts of numbers. In films, you have people crunching box office numbers, budget numbers, catering meal numbers, whatever. It's a part of fandom, all fandom. I also like the "get a hobby" argument for him. It would seem to me that he has one, and is displaying it every day. -
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 11:53 AM) neither do I but it was still pretty obvious Sheesh, sorry, I rarely, if ever, think about these two twits. Heck, I don't think I even knew she was pregnant.

I don't watch Enertainment Tonight or anything of the sort, I don't read People or Entertainment Weekly or anything of the sort, so I had never enccountered that cute little name for Brad and Angelina.

I'm anxiously awaiting Mike and Mike to tackle the topic of steroids.
