  1. On the Ozuna missed catch: I was sitting out there by the foul pole on and saw the whole damn thing. Pods may have caught it had he had the right read and timing. It was not a very easy looking catch to have made. I didn't question for one second if he should have caught it or not. It simply did not look like an easy catch. People behind me started yelling "Soriano would have made that catch". I was actually a little surprised that Ozuna came under any fire for not making it. I thought it was a hell of an effort.
  2. QUOTE(Beltin @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 11:32 AM) I wish I shared your enthusiasm. Last year was an unbelievable high. I have never been more excited about sports than when I heard Rooney's final pennant-clnching call for game 5 of the ALCS. The thing is, once the World Series was won, the letdown was huge. I went to Houston and sat in the stands and celebrated the victory as hard as anyone. However, I have realized this year that devoting so much time, energy and emotion to a bunch of strangers who really don't care a ton about my success is a big waste of my life. Last year was great but I realized I should relax and enjoy the game of baseball more and stop letting the ups and down of the White Sox enter my state of being. The Sox were playing the Yankees 2 Sundays ago and I decided I could not watch the game or worry about the score that day. They ultimately lost, which is not material to my point. Whether they won or lost that game did not change the fact that I had one of the better Sundays in a while hanging out with my two sons in the backyard and enjoying the weather. Don't get me wrong, I still prefer that the White Sox win it all. I just can't devote another 25 summers of my life willing the Sox to win another championship. It is just not worth it. What he said. Well, except the stuff he did with his sons. I don't know his sons and was NOT invited to the day in the backyard. Not really upset about that...but to be thought about once in awhile might be nice.
  3. I love the commercial they run of Salisbury defending Baker actually teaching the Cubs players the basics by using Maddux and his gold gloves as the example. I'm thinking Maddux learned some of his defensive skills before meeting up with Baker.
  4. Dang, I actually like Harold.
  5. QUOTE(spiderman @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 08:20 AM) BTW, you guys see Harold Reynolds got fired ? WHAT!?! What happened?
  6. Just talking about Suzuki makes me all kinds of happy. But yeah, doubt it would ever happen. Hey, any chance of our tricking Detroit into taking Javy and giving us Rogers? Let's see just how good KW really is.
  7. Heck, combine the two things!!! Get the logo tat along with Tadahito's face tattooed on your arm!!!
  8. Damn, that's a shame! I loved the guy, easily a favorite face to see on the screen.
  9. Last year we showed we could almost blow a 14 game lead. Do you think this year we can come back from a 14 game deficit???
  10. Good news is that Dragnet is playing on my OTR station. I like Dragnet.
  11. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 12:56 PM) Way too much slow motion for my taste. There was a bunch, no doubt, but I liked the story and there were enough cool fights to make it work for me. I caught the end of Jet's Born To Defense the other day, and that is the polar opposite as far as slow motion! The final fight in that might just be the most brutal fight I have seen in a M.A. flick, and that is even comparing Jackie vs. Benny The Jet in Wheels On Meals !
  12. QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 01:58 PM) Wilco could unite people all across the world with their awesomeness. Bah, guess I never wanted to be united, as I hate that band.
  13. QUOTE(DePloderer @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 01:16 PM) Over the years I have had a passing attraction to all these; The Sisters of Mercy, The Mekons, The Wedding Present, Utah Saints, Chumbawamba, ( phabulous Live ) The Music and The Mission. ( It is said that Goth was born in Leeds. ) And lately Kaiser Chiefs. That list makes me proud to be a Loiner! (Someone from Leeds ) First And Last And Always is one of the greatest albums ever recorded. I can do without everything after that one, but that albums is brilliant. So much was lost when Hussey and Eldritch split from each other.
  14. Saw Pirates Of The Caribbean friday. I liked it quite a bit. Bill Nighy friggin' rules in everything he does. Jones is one of the coolest critters I have ever seen. Watched Hero Saturday night. Loved that one. Jet Li is unreal to watch, even with all the wire work. Watched Ginger Snaps and Ginger Snaps 2: Unleased the past two nights. Great, great, great flicks! Great spin on the werewolf mythos, great dialogue, great cast, and the two Fitzgerald girls were too cool. In the second film Ghost was a creepy kid and the wolf FX got much better. I think tonight I will be watching Resident Evil: Apocalypse for the heck of it.
  15. QUOTE(bmags @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 11:37 AM) i thought we were looking for local bands that haven't made it... or else wilco would obviously be mine. and rhymefest. But then you have to define "made-it". All of mine would work then, aside from Cheap Trick. But even them I would still consider "local", with as much as they stay in Rockford and do free shows and small clubs all the time.
  16. I think (and am almost positive) there was once a Sonic in Elgin. It's obviously gone now, but about 10 years ago there was one.
  17. Cheap Trick I'm not a fan of many Chicago bands, though The Last Vegas is fairly decent from what I have heard out of them. I still need to get theirs though. The Gaza Strippers were O.K., but I carry a slight bias towards them. The Love Dictators will rule everything though once they get their heads together.

    Hello.

QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 06:59 PM) He got a greeting that starts with an "H", how about 20 bucks? DEAL! I like when we can work together.
  19. Kid Gleason

    Hello.

Hey. (that is a greeting beginning with an "h", so it counts)
  20. Blockbuster is Satan. Even if they charged $1 a month and all the rentals you wanted, I would still avoid them.
  21. We got a DVR and I expected to be watching all the shows I always missed once I got it. I watch even less TV now for some reason and never use it.
  22. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 01:08 PM) Watched Clay Pigeons for the first time this past weekend. Highly entertaining. Although Vince Vaughn's accent was a little shaky he still played a great role. Good flick. I liked that one more than I expected to. That movie, A Scanner Darkly, is that animation the type used in those annoying commercials?

    Gadgets

Oh, I thought we were supposed to start complaining about the media reports.
  24. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 12:14 PM) I don't think he will really ever want to pull away from his brother but they were right, he needs to. His brother even said he plays the drums and he is not very good at the guitar....anyone have the link for the Miller brothers?? It's the main video on the America's website: http://www.nbc.com/Americas_Got_Talent/vid...ndex.shtml#main
  25. The best one I have seen was that little girl from a few weeks back who had that UNBELIEVABLE voice. Everybody was in shock that such a HUGE voice could come from her. She might be the best vocalist I have seen on any TV program of these sorts. Nobody on friggin' American Idol could even come close to her. This kid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ve8ivyEaoNQ How do you get it so that the video is here?
