  1. Feels like he's doing as much as anyone to make a case for it. I like Frazier and am fine with him getting some run, and I don't really want Oscar back up until it's going to be long term...but I'd probably try Reyes before Haseley for example. It probably also depends on what the plan is for Hamilton, I guess.
  2. Back to back homers from Reyes and Colas. Really good to see some power from him again.
  3. Kanny starts a series vs. the Wood Ducks, who have yet to join us in 2023. No streams for the prospect freaks. On the other end of the spectrum, I like the production of the Durham stream. I also like seeing Colas lifting the ball again:
  4. Kelley seems to be taking very well to his new piggyback role. Another 3 scoreless, today. Edit: I jumped the gun: He added another inning, bringing tonight's line to 4IP, 0R, 1H, 3K, 2BB. He has given up just 1ER since the move, now totaling 9.2IP, 1H, 15K, 6BB The ER was on a walk > steal > balk > steal sequence, which is a kind of funny footnote. He gets the W to boot, raising his career record to...2-15.
  5. Colas was pulled early from the Knights game today. Maybe coming up if Eloy needs an IL stint after all? Not sure I love the move if so.
  6. Liam pitched yesterday, and although he's done a back-to-back since his return, he hinted at feeling some effects from the smoke in NY or at least being wary of it.
  7. The DH in NY threw off the usual bullpen calculus that had been working so well, and Kopech not going deep in this one didn't help. The staff can't be perfect forever, regardless. Gotta score some runs. Sox actually with a higher xBA today and a decent amount of solid contact, but not enough that fell for hits. Win tomorrow.
  8. So is this what happens when your starter is unhittable, but the opposing batters aren't?
  9. Bullpen in the last 25 games: 2.99 ERA, 1.08 WHIP. Both lead the league over that period. They have allowed the fewest hits and runs of any team in their last 25, and their H/9 of 6.35 is almost a full run lower than the Padres' second place mark at 7.20.
  10. Marlins 1 run game magic vs. Sox (apparently?) walkoff magic.
  11. Wow, Rich Hill threw 119 pitches for the Pirates today.
  12. Schultz likely done after 2 perfect innings. Just 1K this time, 3 GO, 2 FO. 20/29 strikes/pitches, all from the stretch.
  13. Well, they overturned this play which feels like it set some kind of tone:
  14. Cannon with 5IP scoreless, 2H, 2BB, 4K. Tough luck loss for Fisher in Charlotte. 6IP/2ER, but the Knights managed only a solo shot vs. the opposing starter who threw a CG on just 92 pitches.
  15. Did he? The guys he sat are guys folks here have been begging to get fewer ABs: TA, Benny, and AV. The catchers obviously split the DH. Everyone else is playing both, including all 4 guys who hit homers a couple hours ago. Not every loss or underperformance is on the manager.
  16. Schweitzer with a nice start: 6IP, 2ER, 7H, 1BB, 10K. Kanny up 7-3 even after getting tagged out a couple times at the plate. Every starter has at least one hit, six multi-hit performances.
  17. Jose Ramirez 3 for 3. All homers, and all of Cleveland's RBIs so far.
  18. Wheeler no hitting the Tigers through 7. He's at 100 pitches though, so likely to be done. Feel bad for their rosy-cheeked rookie pitcher Olson, in line for another tough luck loss after 5IP/1ER.
  19. He hasn't given up an earned run since May 13th. His WHIP in the last month is just over 1. It's wild to me how some players get the full recency bias "what have you done for me lately" treatment, and others have to spend an apparent eternity to shed the weight of fanbase narratives.
  20. Bottle up some smoke and take it home to the Rate. Light a bonfire before every game. These boys rake in the haze.
  21. For those who care about milestones, that HR was career #50 and season #14 (his high) for Robert.
