  1. BR gets their state championship rings next month. A BR alumnus agreed to donate the entire cost of all the rings for the team and coaching staff. I guess the cost of each ring is $235.
  2. I remember your original post on this. You noticed the first time Getz made the flub in that hour-long Kaplan / McGuffey interview. I can forgive him but he basically outed the truth on the Robert trade, that many had already thought but couldn’t be sure of. That is the bigger story that this tells me. He pretty much took the Mets best offer (that had been rumored for months) and never had any intention of eating any part of Robert’s salary to improve the return. If Getz had much of a choice on the return from the Mets, he probably would have done a lot more research on the players and not made this flub. My guess is that the Mets offer was always Acuna, and perhaps Getz held out for the additional prospect (Pauley). The flurry of moves immediately after the trade and Robert’s $20 million being freed up is pretty much the proof in the pudding.
  3. Trying to deny it would have been far worse, but I guess after saying it four times that would have been impossible anyways. I still want to know how no one under him stepped up and informed him of his mistake after the first or second time he said it…
  4. I do kind of feel that Hahn could have very well made the same mistake and would have handled it similarly. Didn’t he make a joke about “that dumb GM who traded away future superstar Tatis Jr.”?
  5. How are you guys going to go 29 and not just give him an even 30 HR? 🤣
  6. The dude needs to get healthy. At this point, if he can just pitch, even if he’s only a #4 or #5, the trade could be salvaged.
  7. I saw this as well. Could be the case. But I don’t think that Getz truly wanted him over Acuna. Probably just mixed them up. Mauricio has 2 less years of control.
  8. If only Getz had acquired Clifford instead. @Chicago White Sox and most other posters would’ve forgiven Getz immediately had he called Clifford a switch hitter after acquiring him.
  9. This is like the first real news on Thorpe since his TJ surgery. Thanks for sharing.
  10. Thanks for the suggestion. I make them primarily for my two boys — 15 and 17. If they can’t eat them, no one can. But recently, they have started to love the Italian sausage that I grill, so it’s been few and far between for hot dogs. Their tastes change quickly with age. Fresh made garlic Italian sausage from Nottoli’s on Belmont is da best IMO.
  11. Vienna Sport Peppers are frequently sold out in the Walmart’s and Jewel’s in my area so I ordered a bunch of bottles off of Amazon a few months back. Never had the Milano hot dog buns but will give them a try. I usually go for S. Rosen’s Mary Ann buns with poppy seeds. Still haven’t found a better dog than the CostCo/Kirkland jumbo dogs.
  12. I don’t think it’s that awful and I appreciate that he owned up to it, even within a joke. It’s just horrible timing for the flub(s) considering we all know Getz was trying to sell Sox fans so hard on the idea that Acuna was the guy they targeted in return for their franchise CF from the beginning, rather than what we know is the real truth. That it was primarily a salary dump so Getz could use the money on other players. You can’t BS me that you wanted Acuna so bad when you don’t even know which side he bats from. He would have seen this if he watched scouting game tape on him. He probably just looked at some old scouting reports from previous years that showed Acuna was once a top 5 prospect with two organizations and said fine — Acuna, a prospect, and no cash included with Robert.
  13. This is probably true for many of them. I believe it was The Valenstache whom was originally a switch hitter and gave it up for awhile because he was so weak from the right side. It’s just such a nice ability to be able to pull out from a player’s bag of tricks if they can do it moderately well, even if one side is their stronger (and more powerful) side but they can still make some contact with their weak side.
  14. I knew he would address it. At least he all but admitted he fucked up by making a joke about it.
  15. Huh? I think many posters were expecting that the Sox would go after a better starting pitcher option since better names were/are still available.
  16. This was my exact thought after he said it during the Kaplan/McGuffey interview, which I believe was the first time. But he said it a total of four times.
  17. LOL! ”I fucked up, Luisangel. Now YOU have to fix it… OR ELSE YOU’RE FIRED!!!” It would be like having Vince McMahon as our evil GM.
  18. Yikes, you aren’t kidding. I just looked around on Twitter. He is getting shredded universally by baseball fans in general, as well as White Sox fans. I think he’s going to have to address it, but not sure how he can walk this mistake back at this point.
  19. Maybe Griffin Canning if he’ll accept the Sox lowballish offer.
  20. Sounds fine to me but Jerry isn’t buying out the last two years of Benintendi. That’s $31 million. No a chance in hell.
  21. If it had only been that first time — the Kaplan / McGuffy interview? — he would have been fine. Four times makes it obviously look like he truly thinks Acuna is a switch hitter. Not a simple brain fart. Also, for as great as Getz has supposedly improved the front office, how does not one of his hires notify him of his flub after the first or second time he said it? How does Getz even try to walk this back now? 🤣
  22. The knuckleheads at The Score 670 finally figured it out as well. Local media finally figured it out. Shocking.
  23. Dustin Fowler. “Outcome: The case was remanded back to state court in 2018 after a federal judge ruled in Fowler's favor regarding jurisdiction. A settlement motion was later filed in February 2022, though specific details of the resolution were not publicly disclosed.”
  24. Getz has now been called out and clowned for his four-time repeated ignorance at NBC Sports.
