  1. Have the Sox signed any player near that dollar amount (~$30 million) in the last couple offseasons during Getz’s tenure? Especially when they have been trying to cut salary? I wouldn’t be surprised if Kay is their biggest total dollar signing this offseason.
  2. Most of the BR security guards at the school are retired local cops so they have an inside hookup.
  3. Did I miss any? 1.) Former top prospect 2.) Has since lost top prospect status after failing miserably in majors early in career 3.) Plays multiple positions but none proficiently 4.) Has played 2B which is just icing on the cake to Getz 5.) Can’t hit a lick with little to no power.
  4. With Sosa and even Mead around, I highly doubt the Sox are truly that interested in O’Hearn. He will ultimately get overpaid from some team and I doubt it will be from our frugal Sox. And at 32 with such a down and more recently up career, I’m not even sure he’d be worth what he ultimately gets paid.
  5. Thanks, all! My son said their team buses got an Oak Lawn police escort down 95th Street when they got close to the school. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DR059p3DAh3/?igsh=ZXg3NHhkaWpxczZq 🤣
  6. Yes, Acuna’s name came up well before last year’s trade deadline I believe.
  7. You may be on to something. Although some people in this Reddit thread seem to think he has sources. I guess he may be no different than some “White Sox insiders”.
  8. He’ll turn 24 on March 12th before the season starts. Still not very old but he is looking like a broken prospect à la Vargas and Mead at this point, and I would avoid him like the plague. Also, to think the Sox could be the team to fix his swing would be foolhardy.
  9. BR State Champs! It’s a 16-0 shutout of St. Rita. BR’s second title in school history and first one since 1981. #69 ❤️
  10. Exactly my point. He looks like a utility guy. He didn’t hit in the minors. I’d rather roll the dice on younger prospects.
  11. This is the second time this Acuna rumor has popped up. Can someone explain to me Getz’s obsession with this no bat scrub? He put up only a .751 OPS in the minors for cripes sake. The only thing he has going for him is youth. He turns 24 in March. There’s a reason he is in every Mets trade rumor and they are probably dying to trade him. I’d rather roll the dice on younger prospect than this guy.
  12. Basically, an exact redo of Fedde, whom they wisely sold high.
  13. Yes, supposedly. So it could just be Pereira in CF and Baldwin in RF instead… at least until Montgomery is called up to bump Baldwin back into a utility role.
  14. Didn’t more people get added/announced as the date got closer last year?
  15. Only thing I can guess is that he struggled as a starter in the minors with the Mets in 2023 and 2024, finally had success as a reliever last year, so they don’t want to mess with him. But I agree with you, he seems like the perfect candidate for a cheap rebuilding team to try as a starter again.
  16. And Ishbia can’t take over the team as owner until 2029 at the earliest.
  17. Would have expected it to be just a one year deal. I guess if he breaks out, he’s a good trade chip like Fedde and if he bombs, he’s just an expensive reliever for another year. The scary thing is that this guy had even less success than Fedde in the majors (as in zero success) prior to his reinvention overseas.
  18. More hyperbole. I don’t believe anyone said or expected the Sox to sign Cease. Certainly not me, but you appear to be referring to my recent comments on some of Getz’s free agent acquisitions. Even though Manoah is likely to be bad because he hasn’t been the same guy since his TJ surgery, $1.95 million for a potential starting pitcher is less than half of what Getz gave to a player everyone knew was a terrible 2B in Nicky Lopez at $4.3 million two years ago. Also, it is almost a third of the money Getz gave to a mediocre reliever in John Brebbia at $5.5 million, which was just as bad of a signing for a rebuilding team. Yes, Getz essentially lit $9.8 million dollars on fire when he signed these two players and they delivered a combined -0.4 bWAR in 2024. Regardless, what @caulfield12 said in his previous post pretty much nailed it: ”Shopping at the Dollar Store consistently just leads to more extended poverty.” What is the strategy here and where is it leading to? Because it looks like another non-competitive season to me.
  19. Fenwick beats East St. Louis, 38-28. Awesome game. ESL loses after gaining 322 total yards in the first half of the game. What an upset. “Fenwick shocks East St. Louis to win the 6A state title“
  20. Damn, thought Getz had him all locked up… 😶
  21. True. I was thinking how all of this weather mess could have been avoided had they played these games in a dome, but then I couldn’t think of a domed football stadium in the Chicagoland area. I can only think of the Bridgeview Sports Dome which is still set up for soccer, not football.
  22. Lopez was worth 0.2 bWAR that year. Remillard also had a 0.2 bWAR. I doubt either guy getting those at bats would have prevented the Sox from setting the loss record.
  23. The rebuilding Rockies just signed both Nicky Lopez and John Brebbia to minor league deals. Two players that the rebuilding White Sox signed for $9.8 million dollars. So what should the strategy be for rebuilding teams? Because our GM seems to be all over the place with his strategy.
