  1. They would likely be just as bad, as we have already seen.
  2. Yep, TLR has his mouth open and is staring like he’s shocked at what happened, or in this case at the post he just read.
  3. Jerry would make Getz buy him out, no doubt in my mind.
  4. You can’t just presume that injuries are why they both stink now. Eloy is only 28 and in AAA and Robert is 27 and stinking it up. Are they both truly clear wins on being developed? Their careers look like they are winding down and they both should be in their primes.
  5. I thought if he rejected the assignment that would be reported with the transaction.
  6. Great signing two years in a row, Getz. Getz burned up $4.5 million on this bum. And now Balta and SSHM will not return.
  7. We need an update from WE on how much better this team is than we think it is…
  8. Maybe, but he has a career .608 OPS in 634 career plate appearances. It’s doubtful that he will ever even hit as well as Vaughn.
  9. I will always enjoy his strikeout per at bat every time Getz decides to call him up.
  10. Fuller wasn’t fired! It was a “mutual parting of the ways.” Nevermind that the Orioles offense tanked in the second half of the season and in the postseason. Definitely not canned, nope!
  11. Agreed. I don’t think they would consider cutting Vaughn this early in the season.
  12. Sosa hasn’t shown he can hit enough to be a very productive 1B. Are we just going to stick him at 1B because we have nowhere else to play him, even though we likely know he will never hit well enough to be a legit 1B?
  13. I don’t think anyone thinks Elko will be some sort of savior. It’s just that Vaughn is terrible and Maton is the primary DH. Also, Elko isn’t getting any younger (27 in December) so it seems reasonable to see what he can do. But to your point, since Quero will likely see time at DH, Vaughn is probably the guy who needs to go to make room for Elko.
  14. Not with this bullpen.
  15. Non-tendering Schwarber to sign Joc Peterson for 1/$7 million and go with him as your starter instead for the 2021 season. The Nationals then signed Schwarber for 1/$10 million and he broke out. “Saved” a whole $3 million. What a Cubbie-riffic move.
  16. The sooner the better. No way they bring back Vaughn next year so get a jump start on seeing if Elko can be the answer. His early audition for the 1B spot for next season. Make sure he gets enough at bats to allow you to decide. Could always cut Vaughn loose toward the end of the season to see if a contender will add him as a bench bat.
  17. More like “Temu Trout”, haha. Good question. One could wonder about injuries for most of those guys but that doesn’t explain Anderson and Vaughn. I think Anderson just never really had a very good approach at the plate but how does he go from batting title to worthless so quickly? But he hacked at a lot of bad pitches so once you realize he doesn’t have much more patience than Hobby Baez, just stop giving him pitches to hit.
  18. It should improve. Obviously both young and old players can struggle, but with Meidroth, Quero, and soon Benintendi, Tauchman, and Drury, I can’t imagine it being worse. Also, call up Elko to DH. That should be 4 to 5 better hitters added to the roster after already adding Meidroth, replacing some absolute scrubs that have no business being in the starting lineup for an MLB team.
  19. I read that his injury is 4 to 6 weeks out. You think he might be cut when he is ready to return?
  20. $1.5 million for 5.2 innings, 2 losses, and a 7.94 ERA. Last season, Clevinger “earned” $3 million for 16 innings, 3 losses, and a 6.75 ERA. Great deals if your agent can find a GM stupid enough.
  21. Getz has to be in the early lead for GM of the year. Already at double the number of wins after the same number of games played last season! What a stud!
  22. Especially when the few wide shots of the entire stadium they showed on CHSN tonight made it look like a ghost town.
  23. Agreed, whether they think much of Elko as a player or not, they may as well find out. It’s not like he’s a young top prospect and you want to save his service time for later in the rebuild. And they are already starting a bad 28 year old journeyman at DH in Maton. It’s too bad Schriffen wouldn’t understand your post. He’s not a Seinfeld guy. 😞
  24. Conor McKnight was practically begging for the very swap you just mentioned right after the game. Elko turns 27 in December. How much longer can they wait?
