  1. Positive: Those last inning runs kept the Sox offense at 3 runs per game this Spring! Negative: The Rockies scored more runs in today’s game than the Sox have scored through 4 games.
  2. We can only hope. He’s the one GM proving that ST can correlate directly to the regular season.
  3. He’s trying hard to retain his major league career, but failing miserably.
  4. We could already be right around there and it wouldn’t be Canario’s fault either way.
  5. This is where Hahn was actually pretty good with roster management during the first rebuild. He would acquire every decently hyped former prospect and just cycle through them, because why not? Your team blows and you have the opportunity to try guys. Let’s be honest, Fletcher and Colas are going nowhere with this team. You don’t acquire a 32+ year old RF platoon of cheap veterans if you have any faith in Fletcher and Colas.
  6. Thanks for sharing. Would still like to see the Sox claim him if they suffer any injuries to their outfield this ST and the Mets DFA him again.
  7. I would have taken a chance on him over Fletcher. The Sox don’t even like Colas either. These guys meant nothing to the Sox last year but we are now expecting them to do something this year? If there is a team that could give Canario at bats, it’s the Sox.
  8. Isn’t that how DFA’s work, or am I wrong? The Cubs had 7 days to trade Canario to any interested team. If no team wanted to trade for Canario, Canario would have went to waivers. The Sox having the worst record last year would have had the first shot to claim him. However, the Mets jumped the gun on Canario going through waivers by trading cash considerations for him because they had an open roster spot pop up with Madrigal being sent to the 60-day IL.
  9. 28 other teams all have better MLB rosters than the White Sox. The fact is that the Sox have one starting outfielder they want to salary dump, one starting outfielder they are going to trade the second he hits well enough, and a starting platoon of 32+ year old outfielders. They also have what looks like two reserve outfielders that will never be starters. Getz should have taken the chance on Canario, a corner outfielder with potentially big power. The Sox are the worst team in baseball. It made no sense not to. Beggars can’t be choosers.
  10. Cuz the White Sox either drafted them or wanted them in the draft.
  11. Agreed. They look equally bad in both. And the reason is likely because the Sox starters are mostly AAAA quality, just like the reserves.
  12. The Sox had the worst ST and regular season records last year, so it actually made sense last year.
  13. Of course not. I just don’t see the point in not trying someone new that is younger with power, when your options are a midget that has zero power and can’t hit and yet another Cuban player that the Sox are obviously sick of by now because he wears his glove on his head and doesn’t know what a relay throw is.
  14. Not unless parking prices decrease as well. 😉
  15. Exactly. It’s pretty much being in the position of how could any other owner be worse than JR?
  16. Getz has to justify his trades. That means Vargas starting and Fletcher still having life. Fletcher is terrible and it’s obvious the Sox don’t like Colas but he is afraid to cut either one to add a 24 year old outfielder with power in Canario? It doesn’t make much sense.
  17. Hopefully this is what happens cuz you know what’s going to happen if he makes it to the season — he won’t make it to the trade deadline healthy.
  18. https://bsky.app/profile/jrfegan.soxmachine.com/post/3lix2rxbyy22z
  19. Jerry was deeply pained when Getz gave the Cubs cash considerations for Thaiss. He wasn’t going to let him do it a second time.
  20. My guess is that the lack of options is the much bigger reason, as teams have pretty much finalized their 40-man rosters with ST having started.
  21. Cash considerations, lol. Awful. But I guess it’s a good thing we will get to watch several outfielders well into their 30’s get plenty of at bats with the Sox this year. Our primary right fielder is 10 years older than Canario. Stupid. Canario was added to the Mets roster because Nick Madrigal was placed on the 60-day injured list with a left shoulder fracture.
  22. Hopefully he sticks with this. The thought of his son ruining yet another Chicago franchise for years is disgusting.
  23. The Sox are currently in last place this Spring. https://www.mlb.com/standings/ They finished in last place last Spring with a 9-20 record as well, so perhaps there is some correlation with being bad in ST and being bad in the regular season?
  24. If by “cut” you mean sent to the minors after the game, yes, that’s what happened. He wasn’t “cut” as in DFA. After he left the clubhouse before the end of a 5-1 loss to Anaheim on May 29, 2004, he was called up again in June. He was traded a month later on July 18, 2004 with Gary Majewski to the Expos for Crazy Carl Everett. https://www.tampabay.com/archive/2004/06/21/white-sox-pitcher-back-in-clubhouse/
