  1. I think the rotation can still be good but they are definitely going to rob from Peter [Crochet] to pay Paul [position player prospects]. But Schultz, Smith, Thorpe, Taylor, Cannon, and others can still be a solid rotation. But unless Getz knocks the Crochet trade out of the park, some young guys step up, and the Sox nail their drafts going forward, I still don’t see where they are going to come up with the lineup. Jerry isn’t going to spend in free agency.
  2. Fletcher or Colas should already be that guy. May as well get some use out of them. Although Colas seems to be despised by the Sox front office.
  3. The Sox have a 25-year history of 1st round failures on the offensive side. I think we know the answer as to why the majority of position players that were drafted in that time span ended up the way they did. On the flip side, quite a bit of 1st round pitching successes in that same time span.
  4. Agreed. I’d rather see Getz grab as many of these guys as he can, rather than even worry about dropping a couple million on the Slater’s of the MLB.
  5. Of course. That’s why these scrubs were DFA. They are nothing but fliers. But I’d rather see either of those two outfielders at some point next season than 29-year old Gavin Sheets play another inning in RF.
  6. While you’re on my jock, take care of the itch on my left side.
  7. Pham finished last season with 478 plate appearances and a -0.2 WAR. His final season line was brutal as well… .248 .305 .368 .674 Also, his numbers with the Royals were worse than with both the Sox and Cardinals. Pham will be 37 to start next season. Getz will bring in enough negative WAR players on his own just like last offseason, without us giving him any suggestions.
  8. That’s about right. Hopefully Getz goes after some younger DFAs on MIL deals soon as well. There are a few semi-interesting names being dumped… OF Brennen Davis (25, Cubs) OF George Valera (24, Guardians) SP Bryan Mata (25, Red Sox)
  9. I remember Montgomery had a back issues and an oblique injury in 2023. I know back injuries don’t always just magically go away. Does anyone know if there were any reports of his back flaring up again during the 2024 season? Like you said, I couldn’t find any news articles or updates on his back for this past season. Chicago sports media giving us that important news that we want! Just curious if his back issues would be considered chronic. Joe Crede still had a nice career but it was ended pretty early at age 31 due to his chronic back troubles. Hopefully Montgomery isn’t in the same boat.
  10. Are you still arguing about guys the Sox didn’t sign? Machado is probably still laughing at the Sox.
  11. Good post. Makes sense to me. Especially the bolded part. Pretty easy to comprehend. It’s almost like common sense. But then again, maybe Fuller was just looking for a bigger challenge and chose to leave being in charge of the Orioles lineup of good hitters and top prospects so he could coach up the White Sox lineup of pig slop. 🤣
  12. I think Montgomery can turn it around but I sure can understand people having doubts when it comes to Sox first round position player draft picks. They have been pretty putrid on the whole over the past 25 years. The best players are Anderson and a guy they traded away in Burger. Vaughn is mediocre and many people want to see him non-tendered. What a sad list… 2000 - Joe Borchard 2003 - Brian Anderson 2004 - Josh Fields 2008 - Gordon Beckham 2009 - Jared Mitchell 2010 - Josh Phegley (supp.) 2011 - Keenyn Walker (supp.) 2012 - Courtney Hawkins 2013 - Tim Anderson 2016 - Zack Collins 2017 - Jake Burger 2018 - Nick Madrigal 2019 - Andrew Vaughn 2021 - Colson Montgomery 2023 - Jacob Gonzalez
  13. I asked earlier but was it just a fluky down season or was there something wrong with Montgomery physically last year? His high number of strikeouts (164) really sticks out as out of the norm for him before last year.
  14. Once again, make your own judgment. It seems pretty obvious to me what happened, but you do you. @Kyyle23 was right — not worth engaging. https://www.masnsports.com/blog/fuller
  15. Do you believe everything you read? When a VP of a Fortune 500 company “retires after years of service” and has another job a month or two later, do you really believe they weren’t told to get lost? I have seen it more times than I can count in the 8 years at my current company. It’s called reading between the lines. The Orioles are just doing a solid to the coaches that they got rid of so there is no negative connotation, but being “let go” means fired. Afterall, if the Orioles front office thought those guys did such a great job, why would they let them go? You literally agreed with @Tnetennba above that heads had to roll after another Orioles postseason flop — you replied, “more or less true”. But now you are disagreeing with me over semantics? Yes, they were fired… in the nicest way possible — “let go.” I provided you with the article. Sorry, I can’t clear up gullibility.
  16. Definitely. It’s a bunch of awful players and then a trio of very bad players taking up roster spots.
  17. Fuller was dumped, along with bench coach Fredi González, Major League coach José Hernández, and co-hitting coach Matt Borgschulte. They were probably the fall guys for the Orioles offense crapping the bed in the postseason. https://www.mlb.com/news/orioles-making-coaching-staff-changes-for-2025
  18. This is what I think, and it’s mostly due to not wanting to give up on a 1st round pick (#3 overall). Keep in mind that Getz was the Sox director of player development when Vaughn was drafted. Although he may not have been involved directly in drafting Vaughn, his lack of development over the years and having to cut him won’t reflect very well on Getz.
  19. If he can get back to his 2022 - 2023 numbers this year, that would be great. Any idea what happened with his strikeouts last year? They were way higher than his norm. I just read that he got much more aggressive in the strike zone.
  20. Will be at 39 once Slater officially signs.
  21. Agreed. Getz should be trying to acquire as many one time good prospects in their mid-20’s as possible, not 32-year old Austin Slater’s.
  22. I actually wouldn’t be too surprised if this happened. Jerry loves Abreu and cheap contracts. Getz just signed 32-year old Slater already. Seems pretty obvious that dumpster diving for vets is still #1 on Getz’s offseason plan, just like last year.
  23. Hopefully not, but I’ll believe it when I see it.
  24. I thought he meant 1 year at $4 million. This guy probably isn’t worth $2 million. Wrapping up $10+ million on Vaughn, Sheets, and Slater doesn’t seem like the greatest investment, but it is the White Sox way. Spread out millions amongst several bad players. One contract alone isn’t really that bad, but added all up and it’s like burning millions in a 🔥 on a known quantity of bad players.
  25. Probably not, but he deserves about half that amount of money.
