  1. Are you actually expecting or just “on-pacing” 2 WAR based on 10 games of plate appearances? It isn’t the WAR number that is all that questionable. It’s the limited sample size.
  2. Vargas is at 713 career MLB plate appearances. That is over a year of PA’s. His career line is currently: .183 / .280 / .316 / .596 I hope to see you back here in a couple months and we can reassess.
  3. “On pace”… famous last words. Sheets was on pace to be a star. Now he’s on pace for his usual shitty season. The larger sample size usually reigns supreme in the end.
  4. He had 650 awful MLB plate appearances with the Dodgers and Sox before his last 10 game hot streak. How many plate appearances is giving a guy a chance to you?
  5. Which is the smaller MLB sample size for Vargas? His first 650 or so plate appearances with both the Dodgers and White Sox in which he was one of the worst hitters in baseball or his most recent 50 or so plate appearances in the past 10 games in which he is hitting out of his mind? It would be great if he keeps it up but I wouldn’t wager a dollar on it. The law of averages will catch up with him. Some posters were sweating Gavin Sheets’ hot start and @caulfield12 kept raving about it. I said give it time, and his massive swoon has already begun.
  6. Perhaps, but what is a couple weeks in AAA going to do for a 25 year old that has pretty much maxed out in AAA already? He’s going to have to be on the roster at some point.
  7. Guy lasted one game with the Sox before injury. Hilarious at this point.
  8. Don’t worry, the Sox will catch up to them.
  9. Just saw it. Dude tumbled. https://apnews.com/article/cubs-pirates-fan-falls-88128fb881551cf9fb343f2a64f60aa0
  10. Those 10 more fans are going to raise the decibel level at The Rate. People might go deaf.
  11. Can’t wait for the press release from Jerry about his disappointment for the second straight season.
  12. The scouting reports say he is. @fathom mentioned that Workman looked like ass defensively for the Cubs.
  13. It didn’t make sense to begin with. When I heard the Cubs had interest in Rojas, THAT actually made sense.
  14. Who needs a 4+ WAR player for $25 million a year?
  15. I was referring to position players. Starting pitchers is about the only thing they can identify and develop.
  16. The Sox should not get any benefit of the doubt when it comes to developing position players. What star players have they developed in recent history? Tim Anderson, who fell apart before he turned 30? Congrats.
