  1. I enjoy the irony that we know the Sox are going to trade Crochet because he will only be here for two more years [and Jerry won’t pay him], but let’s go ahead and acquire a mediocre infielder that is under contract for only two years. This is gearing up to be yet another offseason of completely baffling moves by our wizard GM Getz.
  2. Yep. If Getz had a shot at a franchise player, a new young face for his crappy team, he would jump at it in a second. Especially for a pitcher with two years of control that everyone and their grandmother knows that Jerry won’t pay for. The Orioles wouldn’t even make the offer.
  3. This. You worded it better than I could explain. I seriously doubt we could get back “an A-ball position player/rotation arm PLUS Gavin Lux.”
  4. I wouldn’t exactly call them “legitimate” prospects (just semantics I guess), but I agree that they could get back another guy like Batista. However, I don’t agree that they could get Lux back for their international slot money.
  5. How sad is it that we wanted both of these names years ago, and are still talking about them now?
  6. I never argued it wasn’t. I just don’t think the Sox would get back Gavin Lux for their international slot money. Do you think you could trade Batista for Lux?
  7. I think he or someone else may have mentioned Joc Pederson, but he’s been good enough over the last three years to sign a short term deal with a contender. There’s no reason for Joc to want to come to the White Sox unless they way overpaid him.
  8. How much longer do you think Vaughn’s MLB career is going to last at this rate, considering his offensive and defensive production? The fact that Rizzo has already proven it in his career while Vaughn has been mediocre for 4 years bolsters my point. Rizzo has done it while Vaughn is running out of time before he joins the Schaumburg Boomers.
  9. He was ranked 31st in the Dodgers farm system by FanGraphs at the time of the trade. He was 19 and pitching in Dodgers rookie ball. That’s just a flier with boom or bust potential, not a legitimate prospect. Batista is now rated right ahead of #22 Jake Eder in the Sox top 30.
  10. How is the zero protection factor changing for Robert next season? 🤣
  11. The Sox 21st ranked prospect and a guy who will be out of baseball soon because he walks the world?
  12. I remember a lot of posters wanting the Sox to sell high on Robert that year but I seem to remember the rumors were that the offers weren’t high enough. But I don’t recall if any of the actual trade offers were leaked.
  13. It’s what happens when your organization can’t draft or develop position players at all.
  14. In Passan’s opinion, not based on what he’s heard from either side. Sox say yes to that offer. Yankees probably say no. Jones fell off a bit (strikeouts, yikes!), but Dominguez is still #14 in the top 100. I doubt the actual return for Crochet ends up looking better than Dominguez and Jones.
  15. I don’t think Lux is any good, but I still doubt the Sox would get that kind of return for international money.
  16. It would be to normal teams. But JR might just not want to pay half of his salary until the deadline.
  17. Yep. Starting pitching is the one thing the Sox can actually develop. Position players? No. All the more reason Getz should be trying to trade Crochet for 2-3 good position prospects as the rumors have stated.
  18. $17 million guaranteed for Davis and got absolutely nothing out of the bum. Brutal.
  19. I’ll pass on having either Gavin on the roster. They are both stinky lefty bats that can barely OPS .700. Definitely sounds like a terrible Getz acquisition, just like the majority of his others, so I wouldn’t be surprised at all if it happens. I’m sure Lux’s bat would boom moving from LA to the Sox, just like Vargas. 🤣
  20. Yeah, Jerry knew exactly what he was doing. He even wore his pimp daddy Fonzie leather jacket that makes him look 50 years younger to convince lawmakers to give him a free billion dollars. It was a solid plan and I’m shocked it didn’t work.
  21. Passan has a new ESPN Insider article in which he says that Crochet is “almost certain” to be traded. I don’t have Insider but here is a brief recap… ESPN’s Jeff Passan reports Garrett Crochet is “almost certain” to be traded this offseason. Crochet is the most appealing trade target for any franchise looking to significantly upgrade their starting rotation mix and the White Sox are looking to capitalize with his trade value seemingly at an absolute apex. The 25-year-old southpaw, who has two years left before reaching free agency, finished last year’s breakthrough campaign with a strong 3.58 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 209/33 K/BB ratio across 146 innings (32 starts). He’ll command an astronomical prospect haul, but there should be several organizations willing to meet Chicago’s asking price. Source: ESPN.com
  22. Couldn’t that go the other way? The Sox are like the drunk guy that stays at the bar until closing time and picks out its targets with beer goggles on, and usually chooses poorly…
