  1. LOL. Quite the hype up design and graphic.
  2. Can someone explain to me why anyone would ever choose to sign with the Blue Jays over the Dodgers?
  3. Because obviously if you can make enough good moves at the same time, including cheap good moves, you can eventually form some semblance of a team. Unfortunately, Getz has absolutely whiffed on the majority of his acquisitions and he is no closer to being competitive than he was last year. And once Getz runs out of a Cease or Crochet to trade away, good fucking luck. Perez means nothing at this point because Getz never acquired him and the rumors of Sox interest in him sure seem to be BS at this point. Your Perez argument means nothing. Getz chose a -1.3 WAR catcher for $4.25 million that he cut loose right around the All-Star break on July 19, 2024.
  4. Yeah, Sal Perez would have made this team a winner! 🤣
  5. Yeah, bad luck… 🤣 You sir, are delusional.
  6. Absolutely shocking news to pretty much no one except for a few dreamers, Sasaki is down to two west coast teams. Go figure!!! It’s funny too, because I saw someone post that a flight from Chicago to Japan isn’t that much longer than from the west coast. 🙄
  7. Unfortunately, a big reason the Sox can’t sign anyone good is because they don’t even have the equivalent of a drug store cash register. They have that crappy change tray that we all have in our cars, and the highest denomination of currency in it is quarters. I keep mine in a red Solo cup in one of my cup holders.
  8. So what you are saying is that even though we all knew that Maldonado was never ever a good hitter and his defense had clearly declined the prior year, that he epically failed in the main attribute that Getz called out other than defense — his leadership skills?
  9. But, but, but, it was a good move since Getz was looking for leadership and he only cost $4.25 million. It just didn’t work out! Maldonado hadn’t had a good season since 3 years earlier. But it still isn’t Getz’s fault that Maldonado played like a 37 year old who should have retired.
  10. The Sox ended up signing him. I never said he was a savior. I’m not sure what your point is or what that Sox acquisition from last year has anything to do with Sasaki. Or are you just trolling?
  11. Untrue. More of you making up BS once again. I praised the Crochet trade. I also liked the Bryse Wilson signing. I didn’t think Fedde was worth signing last year but that was a huge acquisition for Getz. Unfortunately, he then blew it by trading Fedde and Kopech for trash. The majority of Getz’s other moves have sucked.
  12. Sox are still in this, right? Cuz… Iguchi?
  13. Not really. I’ve accepted that Getz is a weak GM and the Sox aren’t winning anything anytime soon, especially with Jerry as the owner. Doesn’t mean I can’t call out all the stupid moves our novice GM makes.
  14. Dude. Click on the link. The move was bashed by everyone, not just posters you claim are “like me”. You are once again trying to re-write history to make Getz not look so bad. It was a terrible acquisition then, just as it is looking back at it today.
  15. Except Getz thought that veteran leadership actually outweighs baseball talent. He thought that a 37 year old catcher who was probably already done at 34 was still worth $4.25 million.
  16. This is a re-imagining of the initial response to the Maldonado signing. The majority of posters panned it from the start and said that Getz overpaid. Posters were saying last offseason that Maldonado deserved a minor league deal at best. Obviously, Getz’s grand idea of defense and leadership went straight to the crapper considering he acquired guys that couldn’t hit a lick, much less play defense or serve in a “leadership” role. And no, I don’t care about Jerry’s money, but that doesn’t mean Getz should burn it in a fire like The Joker in The Dark Knight. That’s $4.25 million that could’ve gone to an actual good flip candidate, like an Austin Hays this offseason. I know you like to defend Getz to the bitter end but it’s amazing that you are actually trying to justify the Maldonado signing.
  17. Last offseason, Maldonado was a free agent after an awful 2023 as well. No hindsight needed. Getz overpaid. Period.
  18. 90 year olds don’t need other people jinxing them.
  19. The Padres gave Oldy Moldy exactly what Getz should have given him last year, rather than $4.25 million guaranteed… ”Padres signed C Martín Maldonado to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.”
  20. For shame, @caulfield12… for shame…
  21. Two huge losses, one big jinx by @caulfield12.
  22. Bob Uecker, 90. RIP.
