The minimum salary is $760K. Getz signed Anderson for $900K and Wilson for $950K. The difference is pretty trivial, yet no other teams would claim either of them when they were DFA’ed. You try so hard.

I think you are trying a bit too hard to make DFA’ing recently signed players not seem like such a bad thing. Not surprising since it is such a frequent transaction for Getz’s recently acquired targets. Justin Anderson and Clevinger have value? Steven Wilson was DFA during the offseason on February 7th and no team had room for him and his modest $950K salary?

True, but while Hahn spent $12 million on Clevinger, he at least got decent starter production out of him in 2023. Getz has now spent $4.5 million on Clevinger over the last two seasons and has gotten absolutely nothing from him.

Did I say he should be fired for that? The point is that Getz just signed these guys over the offseason for $1 to $1.5 million, they have barely pitched for the team, and he has already DFA’ed all three of them. Sure, that’s a minimal amount of money for a one year deal but it all adds up to waste. It also shows that not one other team in the MLB values adding any of these guys to their roster over the pitchers they already have.
