  1. Yeah, cuz it’s also closer to to California where his agency is and where he would fly in from Japan.
  2. That’s a big difference if you fly a lot.
  3. I think if this trade was offered, it would’ve been accepted yesterday. You get an excellent 3B prospect and a lefty CF who just turned 24, even though his stock has been down the past couple years. He still has the speed to play CF and maybe he can do enough other things (play good defense, hit some dingers, and steal bases) to make up for his weaker overall bat (low AVG and OBP). ”Trade Proposal: Luis Robert for infielder Cam Smith (#73 overall prospect in MLB) and outfielder Jacob Melton (Astros #2 prospect)”
  4. Clevinger’s value was really only in what he could return in a trade. No one wanted him because of the shitstorm surrounding him. So while it’s great that he put up a 3 WAR for Rick Hahn and his 61-101 team in 2023, ultimately who cares? The Sox paid him $15 million over two seasons and have nothing to show for it. Now, no team even wants him, but I’m sure Clevinger is still enjoying that $15 million dollars for 24 good starts in 2023.
  5. Good god is it bad. I just looked at it. Can’t believe there’s an outfield out there that’s worse than the Sox. Doubt you are getting even Smith alone for Robert. They want him as their long-term solution at 3B. But it’s probably reasonable.
  6. They also had Christian Walker signing with the Yankees last week. So they just tweet out the deflection excuse. I like how they expect people to believe that a GM didn’t contemplate whether a free agent was worth their qualifying offer or not, prior to offering the player a deal. This account is a sham of bigger proportions than the Chicago food accounts.
  7. Bogus is what I call it. Which one of these teams is not like the others?
  8. The Cringe is strong with this one…
  9. Problem is, Jerry may be sweating dumping that salary and told Getz to move him this offseason.
  10. What apology? Sosa technically didn’t admit to using steroids. That’s the funniest thing about this.
  11. I also remember his teammate infielder Manny Alexander got busted a year after he left the Cubs when he was with the Red Sox in 2000 with steroids in his car. Obviously, he was already on a new team by then but I remember thinking that Manny Alexander was probably Sosa’s steroids mule when they were teammates.
  12. I assume @Balta1701 was referring to the fact that Bellinger was just salary dumped by the Cubs, even though he has outperformed Robert over the past two years. Basically inferring that Robert probably doesn’t have as much trade value as people are thinking. The Yankees now have Bellinger for either 1/$25 or 2/$50 with the cash the Cubs included. However, Robert is a bit cheaper at either 1/$17, 2/$37, or 3/$55.
  13. You can make excuses for him if you want but it’s not going to make him any better. He’s bad.
  14. Sosa has always been unwilling to admit he took steroids. Notice how Sosa only hinted that he took steroids in the quotes but never actually comes out and says it. I guess that was a good enough public “apology” for Ricketts. Anyways, I hope the Cubs convention is at night because last I checked vampires can’t roam around in the daylight…
  15. He blasted Jerry, Tony, and the unexpectedly mediocre 2022 season. If people weren’t watching this before, no one is watching it now. It went from a round table to a one man show. Yikes…
  16. Sure, but the team is two seasons removed from a decent 3-year run, starting with the Covid-shortened season. People were interested in the Sox then, until they just had back-to-back putrid years and began another long-term rebuild. Fans aren’t interested in watching this shitshow or the beginning of yet another rebuild. The timing isn’t exactly a surprise.
  17. Yeah, I think it would be funny if Lorenzen was actually trying to sell himself to the Sox to try to get them to throw millions at him. He would definitely be barking up the wrong tree. The Sox are only interested if your value and price are low based on previous season(s).
  18. Not in the Pirates picture. However, it looks like he gained some pounds with the Brewers. Too many Leinies and cheddarwursts.
  19. Yes, a never ending stream of terrible offseason transactions and in-season roster decisions.
  20. Last year’s team was unlucky now? Huh? Getz had an absolutely putrid offseason other than the Fedde signing and people were calling him out for it in real-time last year.
