  1. Even if mediocre vets like Slater and Tauchman have good first halves, you aren’t getting back much of anything for them. These aren’t true one year “flip” candidates. Flip candidates are guys who have been good in the past and had a down year. These are cheap vets that were never really good players. Instead of signing these two scrubs, sign Austin Hays to a one year deal and see what he can do. Hays is a flip candidate. Giving the younger outfielders that you mentioned above those at bats is worth more than the lottery tickets you are going to get back for Slater and Tauchman, if you even get anything for them at all. What the hell is Getz’s game plan here? Does he even have a strategy?
  2. Live image of Getz…
  3. 34 years old. I’m sure his best year is ahead of him. I’d rather play the younger outfielder bums that Getz acquired last year and Colas. Being a Sox fan is depressing…
  4. Mully and Mannelly have been asking over and over how you can draft a generational franchise QB and not surround him with a good OL.
  5. Agreed. If the Yankees aren’t dealing Dominguez, screw ‘em. And there’s no position prospect very enticing in the Mets farm system. They mostly had garbage years like you said. Let these two teams force a bidding war and possibly up the ante for other teams with better prospects.
  6. The Sox have been trying to add a right fielder since the last time they got good production from the position. Avisail Garcia in 2017.
  7. 4 years of control left for Outman. He’s not any sort of solution to RF for the Sox. Add in 2 years of control for Lux and it would be very difficult to understand why Getz would make such a trade. It would basically be a sign that Getz is just trying to build a mediocre lineup, not build up toward any sort of contender. These guys match up well with acquisitions like Fletcher and Vargas.
  8. Totally agreed. I’m not buying this fluff. It tells me Getz is trying to stir up his own interest cuz he intends on dealing Robert this offseason regardless of the strength of the offers. It’s the offseason of salary dumping. Getz had an early start with Eloy, Moncada, and Sheets. Crochet and Robert are next. And yes I know Sheets and Crochet weren’t due much money but it all adds up. No doubt, this was the plan all along and these marching orders were given to Getz by Jerry.
  9. I expect a big year from Getz’s #1 offseason target!
  10. I don’t think so just because it’s tough to be that horrible two years in a row, not that I think the overall talent of the roster will be much better this year, if at all.
  11. Not that this is news, but I’m guessing the Yankees aren’t truly in on Crochet…
  12. What Getz just said in Merkin’s tweet above makes me think he is moving him either way.
  13. I didn’t believe it at first. But with Harold always bringing up Lux and the Dodgers manager announcing Betts’ move to SS… Muncy can play both 3B and 2B. Edman can also play 2B. They just signed Michael Conforto who can play LF with Andy Pages in RF. Leaves a perfect opening in CF for Robert and they won’t exactly need Outman.
  14. So who is excited for Robert for Lux and Outman?
  15. Yes, please. From your fingers to Getz’s ears.
  16. I did think Madrigal would be better than he was after his first two seasons with the Sox, but you could see the issues with his game immediately. He was definitely not a very fast baserunner so it made you wonder how he was ever going to consistently beat out all those bunts, groundballs, and choppers for hits, since that was a large part of his offensive game — not striking out and making weak contact.
  17. Ironically, Madrigal finished with a .221 AVG and 0 homeruns for the Cubs last year. But he is a .274 career hitter at least.

  20. Offers would seem to be close though, no?
  21. He was proposed as the secondary piece after Miller.
