What a boner. He’s like two to three years too early on this new kick of his. Just like trading for veteran relievers that ended up sucking balls. Remember Getz’s first offseason priority of defense and leadership? Yeah, that worked wonders…

Wins and losses don’t matter once the win rate goes bad. -
Veteran leadership isn’t meaningless, but it’s definitely less important for a bad team that is going to lose 100+ games. Where are Fletcher and DeLoach right now? Haven’t the comments about those two acquisitions been proven true by now? The only future they appear to have is with Charlotte or some other team’s minor league system. I wouldn’t be surprised that outside of Tauchman’s daughter situation, Getz realized he could fill RF very cheaply in 2026 with the extra year of control. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Sox had kept Tauchman, even without the daughter situation. Jerry likes cheap players.

Yep. A rebuilding team should not be in the business of trading prospects for two mediocre 31 and 33 year old relievers. -

Madrigal became a pretty good backup infielder, minus his injury woes. It’s isn’t the worst role in the world. Meidroth just doesn’t have enough power to be a threat. -

Anyone see Schwarber’s 4 HR game? Amazing to remember that the Cubs non-tendered him. -

The minute the Sox didn’t trade him, he already did. He has one more year of arbitration. A cheap starting RF? Jerry and Getz are in love. -

Looks like you were right unfortunately. Like I said, I doubt Getz hoodwinked the Rays of all front offices. -

Nah, it’s just bad unfortunately. At least his bat has improved. -

Yep, it sucks. I was hoping for a steal 1B. But I sincerely doubt Getz out-scouted the Rays on him. -

This is as bad of an idea as playing him in the outfield. 🤣 -

Good luck, Bears… ”Packers acquired Micah Parsons from the Cowboys and signed him to a four-year, $188 million extension.”
-
Yep. Basically, Getz wasted a good acquisition in Tauchman by not flipping him. Sorry, but I’d take a prospect over an oft-injured 35-year old 2 bWAR right fielder with good leadership in what will likely be another losing season. And who is to say Tauchman will have another good season in 2026 in which he will have more value than he already did? Isn’t this what rebuilding teams are supposed to do? Sign guys to one year contracts, hope they perform, and flip them?
-
He’s waiting for that Ishbia pity money. 🤣
-
Great point. I believe I do remember WE saying that about other Chicago sports teams. But I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt — perhaps he just likes baseball more than other sports so he is more invested in the Sox.
-
Where did I say that Sox fans are angrier than Athletics or Pirates fans? What I did say is that the Sox have been even better at being BAD than both of those teams — they are on pace for three straight 100 loss seasons. Even the Athletics and Pirates couldn’t manage to reach the pinnacle of that level of BAD. You also had an earlier post in which you said that many team’s fans hate their team, etc., etc. and then named two teams outside the Sox. That isn’t a majority.

Fajardo for Booser. Kind of evens out those HR signings of Tauchman and Slater. -

Of course. Something is always better than nothing.
-
Definitely. Just more hyperbole — “There’s other bad teams in baseball and fans that are upset about their teams, just like Sox fans!” Sure, but how many other teams are on pace for their third straight 100 loss season? The Sox are at the pinnacle of being BAD. But he will just respond with — “I don’t care how many games the Sox lose. They are in a rebuild!” As if all Sox fans should feel the same way as him and are completely shortsighted if they don’t.
-
See, this is where you use too much hyperbole. I don’t recall anyone saying that Vargas isn’t even a bench bat. But he’s probably a bench bat on a good team right now, unless he improves further. Also, it’s difficult to get excited about Tauchman. It’s great that he has a 1.6 bWAR in 77 games but you just also pointed out his downside of getting injured as much as Robert, likely because he is old. He’ll be 35 in the offseason and definitely won’t be on the next contending Sox team. These probably aren’t two players that are helping the Sox win a World Series. Also remember, two actual contending teams dumped both of these guys. Getting “real value” for some of these guys when they won’t be traded for any valuable prospects or contribute to a playoff team just doesn’t get many fans excited like you.
-
Nah, it pretty much bolsters the general idea that he’s a jagoff. The funniest thing is that he has always had a negative view of Barstool and podcasters who didn’t make their bones coming up through the radio business and now he has to do a podcast himself, just like Barstool employees.
-
Probably. They know he is always inevitably going to get injured, so they need to trade him before it happens again next ST or during the season. But this sucks as well because his value will be at an all time low, coming off of another crap season and an injury.
