QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 09:53 PM) Apparently Dano was watching too much instead of doing anything. hey thanks for this update. yeah that should do it, make him wig out on being sent down. excellent.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 06:38 PM) They have been trying to replacing him for two years now. Hence the Brian McCann chase. But that shouldn't stop another ownership shot. well he deserve all the shots. why not?

QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 05:27 PM) Scott Merkin @scottmerkin 13h13 hours ago Chicago, IL Danks said he's never had a better teammate than Abreu. Many players are tied with Abreu for that honor in Danks' mind, but none better that would be a huge claim. i am glad for that.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 06:01 PM) That would make a ton of sense. Part of me is also wondering if this is an attempt to slide a replacement manager in to the team in the case they do want to fire Robin next year. Who we hire may well answer that quesiton. at this point, i just wait before i start looking at others coaches. this is surprise on Parent.... and leaving 3 days early. edit - as many have already posted.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 05:31 PM) Makes the trade look even worse right now. I expected Dano to make the team based on Bowman talking about him. someone can look at it that way. but i expect him, really a gut feeling, back up with the team. the hawks usually don't explain their moves. but it is still a surprise move.
-
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 04:17 PM) I could see Dano getting the Teuvo treatment from last year. Didn't make it out of camp last year, spend a month down in Rockford, come up and dominate. Yes, they would save 950K in cap. unless this a ploy to get him to accept a buyout. just fishing.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 04:47 PM) 670 The Score @670TheScore 6m6 minutes ago #WhiteSox catcher Tyler Flowers will have right knee surgery on Oct. 9, reports @MLBBruceLevine: http://cbsloc.al/1VrsVMy well will roseraio (sp) is avail for trade if needed. col mlb rumors. but i don't trust his offense.... for me it will always have that col help.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 05:10 PM) Wow, that is big news. But with that said, while I haven't watched really any preseason, it could be good to give Dano a little bit of a wake up call, just because you were penciled in to play with Toews and Hossa, you have to earn it. See how he enjoys riding a bus in the AHL. While I expect the Hawks to be competitive this year, I'm also looking at it as sort of a development year as well. Not a bad thing. good idea, but if that is the case, then call up some of their dman that are on the cusp.... i would imagine there are some.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 05:07 PM) Also, Bryan Bickell is on waivers. they finally did it. according to some rumors, stan didn't want to do it, b/c he didn't want to loose bickell. why??? i just don't know what he see in him. i bet he goes unclaimed..... if he does, can the hawks bury him in the minors???

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 05:02 PM) Surprising cut of the day. Marko Dano sent to Rockford, WOW. Baun makes the team over him i wanted Baun to make it, but i was surprise that he did, esp at the expense of Dano. i wonder if this is that, what 10 games of regular season consideration. it is going to be interesting in the final cut.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 03:59 PM) My kids usually ask to go up there when we go. They love the running race. a fan who is doing what veeck always wanted.... family at the sox games. yessss.

QUOTE (Dunt @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 12:38 PM) What a bad message to send the fanbase then have an owner who will then throw the fans under the bus for not spending money. go figure.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 02:38 PM) Darling has looked great this preseason besides last night when they basically threw out the IceHogs team. Considering how Darling changed his life and after his performance last year in regular season and playoffs, I have confidence in both him and Crawford. He's deserved it, just like the extension he got. If he does well again this year, could make Crawford and his 6 million cap hit expendable next summer. you may be right about darling. these early games are for the FO and the players who are on the cusp of making it. a litmus test of sorts. as a fan i needed to know about some players i have been following.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 03:34 PM) I would imagine most of the posters here with young kids probably hit the fundamentals deck every time they take them to a game. that is great !! .... it is a family time .... that was this present owners wanted .... a family unit coming to the games. like the time of the 60's, 70's and 80's. esp with veeck sitting in the bleachers holding court to anyone who want to come up and talk baseball. to me, veeck is one of the demigod's of baseball, he instill family time for baseball.

QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 02:23 PM) Also, playoffs have changed, right? This is the worst playoff drought I've seen since being a fan and the playoffs have been easier to make in that span. These are also some of the least fun teams I've had to watch. It's just been too long, with some of the least dynamic talent I've ever seen on the sox. And yes, that is heavily tilted toward position players. hit the mark. if the sox are not in, i stop watching until the playoff is done. always been like that.

QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 02:16 PM) It's not difficult to understand at all. Those requirements aren't for us. The ones who post on message boards like this are the die-hards. We are the ones that have been fans since we were kids. Had our fandom passed down from our parents and grandparents. We are the ones that still watch the team even when they only win 60 or 70 games. The problem is when it's just the die-hards going to the games, the attendance is only going to be 10 or 15 thousand a game. Those requirements are for the casual fans. The ones that only pay attention when the team is good. excellent post.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 02:12 PM) There is zero chance they will get rid of the fundamental deck. It is one thing that separates USCF from other parks. Kids love it. I have seen the HR derby most games I have attended this year. i agree. there is your built in pipeline to getting fans.

QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 03:04 PM) I bet it may be easier to sell volume on small video board ads vs. the yearlong committment. I wonder if that would equal out or be worse thou a great point. can't wait until the commercial and corp companies start to work with the sox again.

White Sox Minor League Statistical Leaders - Starting Pitchers
LDF replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 02:59 PM) Not sure, though we did write an article about three players who were away from baseball for a few years then came back in 2015. Only one of the three is a legitimate prospect though, and the pitcher was released a few months into the season. great article, i vaguely remember it and yeah it was Brett Bruening.... many thanks. -
QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 02:58 PM) Mine is something like this: 1 Blue Jays 2 Pirates 3 Mets 4 Rangers 5 Astros/Angels/Twins 6 Dodgers 7 Cardinals 8 Yankees 9 Royals every other team not in the postseason 100 Cubs ahhh there was always a reason why i like your post since the other sport site. well done my friend.

QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 02:50 PM) I've always thought I'd outlive JR but now I'm not so sure. with my health problems.... i am like JR... i want another sox, hawks and bulls championship in that order. and heaven help me, if that lousy crap of a team on the northside gets there. i would be royally pissed on the owners this off season. mark my words.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 02:46 PM) He posted earlier this year how he was ready to give up being a White Sox fan, and has about 1000 posts since ripping JR. If it is so bad, and he is willing to give it up, do all of us, including himself a favor, and give it up. Jump on a bandwagon and be happy. What I don't understand about White Sox fans is why it is now a requirement to make the playoffs xx many times in xx many years, and their has to be back to back appearances...If that was always the requirement, how the hell did anyone ever become a White Sox fan? So people just like to complain. In fact, I think we should start a gofundme type of thing for the 4 biggest whiners on this website. Give them their dream vacation. A week in Detroit, in a zero star hotel, with meals at the worst restaurant included. One week of solid complaining. That would be a dream vacation for several here. ref - gofundme i would really hate that.... i have a fear i would be #1 .... but i have reasons.... ref - bold #1. you got a point on that. i like to think success has been elevated ... in other words the goal line has been moved. in the 90's and before, the fans were happy for a team that was competitive, a chance to win the division. that was the joy , at least for me who was a season ticket holder for some 10+ yrs. the excitement the craziness at the park, the crowd of 30,000 and driving being horrible. but man, getting that hot dog behind 3b concession .... and having the sox win. that was my joy. but now, it could have still be like that. there was a jump in season tickets, and a season of promise. regardless of the ability of the owners not to do it right. in 05, the sox stumbled into the WS and i am, just like anyone else ecstatic, but it does not give the owners a free pass. as i said in the hawks section after the SC win. get the GM to start working, there is no down time. i want another SC.... selfish i am. i want more.
-
QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 01:39 PM) Yeah go figure. From 1990 to 2006 the Sox never finished lower than 3rd (and that only happened 3 times). Yet the 3 times they made it to the playoffs it was because they won the division. Not a single wild card winner. Now that they've expanded it to two WC teams, they are finishing 4th and 5th. 99% of the history of this team can be summed up as good, but not quite good enough. excellent post. but i was as loyal to the sox as anyone back then. i defended the owners, even thou i kinda felt like others. back then in the 90's, i heard of, if the sox had invested in another pitcher, another hitter instead of getting and trying to use retreads ..... it would be better. that was said during the same season as they were being voiced. problem is, same complaint many yrs later. the owners legacy..... miss opportunity in many things, but they made money, lots of money.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 2, 2015 -> 01:32 PM) The Cubs are calling for you. Put your money where your mouth is and give up your fandom. Jerry Reinsdorf is an evil man. i took his post as being snarky.... nothing more. anyway, aren't fans has the right to criticize the FO??? anyway, when it comes to some really questionable moves or lack of, and then have the owner berate the fans for not showing up.... they deserve this criticism. just b/c of 1 ws championship, does that excuse the org from criticizing them??? for life???
