QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 3, 2015 -> 06:06 PM) Will always wonder what his career would have been like without that leg injury. that is a great point, the other thing i wonder about is, his attitude, could he have saved his career without it?

Why should Robin Ventura have a MLB manager job
LDF replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ May 3, 2015 -> 07:16 PM) It will be. I love this team but it's a waste to spend the money on the players and have a clown for a manager. like ronald reagan once said. the trickle down effect starts at the top. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 3, 2015 -> 07:15 PM) Hawk Says Abreu also not feeling well. well nether am i, i have to live with the way the sox been playing. welcome aboard.

QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ May 3, 2015 -> 07:08 PM) This team is absolutely unwatchable. I refuse until the hire a legit manager with a proven track record. If we get swept today, now is the time. How long can we keep waiting? then it might be a long time when you get back to watching the team. -
Detailed Game Analysis - Charlotte Knights 5/2
LDF replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 3, 2015 -> 05:34 PM) Here's the detailed analysis piece from the Knights game last night. Includes a bunch of embedded videos of some key guys, including Chris Beck, Matt Davidson, Trayce Thompson and others. Scouting notes from observations, and conversations with some folks there. The interviews will be published in a few days. i have a question, maybe i may not be asking it the right way, i guess. re: Beck, how was his pitching performance outside his stats, did he look as he was in total control, not getting overwhelm? i am hoping that he will be so dominate at that level, that the sox need to find a way to move him up. -
QUOTE (StRoostifer @ May 3, 2015 -> 05:07 PM) Trade Samardzija now after his value has dropped due to a horrible start to the season? Same with LA Roche? Didn't we learn anything from the Swisher fiasco? the things is, need to ride him out for the season.

QUOTE (LDF @ May 3, 2015 -> 04:02 PM) i understand what you are saying, for the most part i agree esp with cooper as interim. let me plays devils advocate, well b/c i like to play it. is this team lack of performance this yr is on RV??? why??? b/c a good manager will find ways to motivate his team and get them to performed. sometimes a manager needs to be the cheerleader in the dugout. -
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ May 3, 2015 -> 05:16 PM) Dan Hayes @CSNHayes 3m3 minutes ago Adam Eaton is sick enough they sent him back to Chicago. Tyler Flowers also sick as are a few other guys. #WhiteSox then i owe someone an apology for not thinking he is sick. just an excuse to sit him down.

QUOTE (flavum @ May 3, 2015 -> 05:31 PM) Looking like he could get the start next Sunday vs the Reds. I wouldn't mind if they sent him back to Charlotte to start, but he needs to start somewhere. At this point, it's looking like the Sox won't be contending. So if he gets the on-the-job training with his changeup, maybe 25-27 starts in the big leagues will help him for 2016. i was wondering when he is going to start a game.

QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ May 3, 2015 -> 03:37 PM) Matt Harvey. NY Mets pitcher. jeeze....my bad.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 3, 2015 -> 04:28 PM) What is the relevance? this has been bugging me since i read it..... who is Mr Harvey?

QUOTE (Lillian @ May 3, 2015 -> 04:17 PM) Why not trade Samardzija? He could net quite a haul, and this team is not going anywhere, even with him. If they really want to spend the money on a long term deal for him, they can always sign him in the off season. I'd like to see if some team would give up a good young, potential left handed power hitter. But then, you probably all guessed that. trade JS.... the net rtn of prospects vs a potential great comp pick in next yr, what some are saying a better draft. btw, who will take a chance on him, with the idea of JS going the fa rt next yr.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ May 3, 2015 -> 01:52 PM) Who knows. But moving him around probably won't help his stock. He has 12 errors on the year, so it may be Ill. State trying to find a position he can play decently defensively so that his bat can remain in the line-up. I really know nothing about the guy except the statistics I saw and he is a high-power, high-strikeout guy who doesn't have a defined position. Probably doesn't bode well for his future. interesting point on the K's. i am going to need to follow that as well. but here is another point, look at JJ Schwarz, a freshman who is making a name for him self as a hitter. he is a catcher, but his bat keeps him in the lineup. he cat's, plays 1b, dh and until recent 3b. so the idea of keeping there bats in the lineup is a really good point. i wonder if PJ doesn't have the skills to play cat fulltime. too bad.

QUOTE (StRoostifer @ May 3, 2015 -> 02:39 PM) I am excited about Anderson and May performing well at the top of the order in Birmingham. Love the flexibility they bring with May being switch and Anderson being RH. Can alternate them between one and two according to the hand of the starting pitcher. If only they can learn to draw more walks, the Sox lineup could be very exciting at the top of the order in a few years. to be honest, i am at a lost on how some of the other prospects, those who haven't gotten to much press, has been doing extremely well. i hope i am wrong in my personal opinions on them. i hope they keep it up.

QUOTE (flavum @ May 3, 2015 -> 04:09 PM) Yes. I think Robin needs to be on notice. Whether that's happening, who the hell knows. i didn't mean about robin on notice... ahh screw it, i wrote it wrong. but yeah i think RV is on notice, even if management didn't have to say anything. i will put even money that he has too much pride and will not endure this for another season. but that doesn't help the team this yr.

QUOTE (StRoostifer @ May 3, 2015 -> 03:58 PM) So would a four game sweep be the golden broom? As for Danks starting today, sigh..... nice one.

QUOTE (flavum @ May 3, 2015 -> 03:55 PM) At the very least, a serious conversation has to happen tomorrow...if it hasn't happened already. If they're worse than 23-26 at the end of May, he gone. with all due respects, do you really think so??

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 3, 2015 -> 02:52 PM) It's very simple then. We have the same HOF manager that got us to the playoffs in 1983 and I'll be perfectly content to let the season play out and not feel another year of healthy Sale and Abreu was wasted "doing the right thing" by our manager. If JR wants to run this franchise into the ground out of misguided loyalty, it's his legacy on the line. I personally tend to believe he's a smarter businessperson than that. how will he run this franchise into the ground?? he is making tons of money, when he is doing the same thing. this franchise should have won more ws. but.... oh well i will not go into a rant.

Why should Robin Ventura have a MLB manager job
LDF replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (SCCWS @ May 3, 2015 -> 02:47 PM) The problem with firing a manager in the middle of a season, is that you are mostly limited to in-house replacements or guys out of jobs. Even guys out of jobs are going to want some security for a few years to right the ship. Now there could be someone w a ton of baggage out of a job and then the Sox would have some leverage. The other problem with an interim manager is it could have a negative impact on the young players. Having 3 managers in the course of a year telling a young player to do 3 different things can be a big problem with certain players. As far as Cooper goes, he should not be the interim. He needs to stay focused on the young pitchers. My guess is that if the Sox bring in a new manager next year, he may want his own pitching coach. I think the best bet is you ride Robin out for the year and make a change in the offseason. Certainly a team w Abreu, Sale and Rodon alone will attract some quality candidates. i understand what you are saying, for the most part i agree esp with cooper as interim. let me plays devils advocate, well b/c i like to play it. is this team lack of performance this yr is on RV??? why??? -
something just dawned on me, this morning i posted the college players stats who are interesting me for this upcoming draft. Paul DeJong, he is listed as a catcher, but they, his school have been playing him at 1b, 2b, alot of 3b now last nite rf???? why?? to improve his draft standing???

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 3, 2015 -> 01:18 PM) Because constantly turning over the roster and expecting different results from the same manager is more logical. Well, more talent but the same woeful results and apathetic, disinterested style of play. Why? wow, nice word.... i got to look that one up. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 3, 2015 -> 01:11 PM) You can't fire 25 players. r u kidding, if only they can. seriously, i corrected something a little while ago. they, the sox need a leader, a vocal leader, he may not have to be the team captain, but some one to bring emotions. now on the flip side, some one can make a discussion of how much these players today makes and why is someone like that is needed. motivation. last yr, there was the guy who the sox release that would tease JA. i am going back to Bo Jackson, he had Tim Raines teasing him all the time. i remember the opening game of the season, bo came up and hit a home run. the limp around the bases. so in the clubhouse, raines imitated bo how how he was running/limping. that was great. build a great team indenty. -
QUOTE (GreenSox @ May 3, 2015 -> 01:54 PM) I realize the Sox as an organization have an enduring love for veteran utility players, to let Bonifacio block Sanchez would be beyond belief. Should Gillespie and Micah be doing some occasional outfield work anyway? i think MJ is an stuck at 2b. i have not been too disappointed in him.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 3, 2015 -> 02:05 PM) No, that is Thanos, the Mad Titan. many thanks, i still don't know who that is, but that is on me, for not following comics. i do have to say, so far, the these movies are pretty decent and entertaining to watch. peace
