  1. QUOTE (Armchair Hahn @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 07:54 PM) hi. first time lurker, first time poster welcome, welcome. i am sooo thrilled with all the new people, esp with this team this yr. sox in '15
  2. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 07:43 PM) this needs a Bond meme lol .... that is great.
  3. what everyone is saying is why i keep harping on getting another pitcher. too many "if's". pretty much like Felipe Paulino of last yr.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 15, 2014 -> 10:01 PM) Jon Heyman ‏@JonHeymanCBS 2m2 minutes ago astros & draftee nix, whose $1.5M deal was canceled thru no fault of his own, reach settlement. http://cbsprt.co/1qTf8Qn would the settlement affect their salary cap ???
  5. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 05:41 PM) BP has always strived to distinguish themselves (having a Top 101 instead of Top 100 is trying a little too hard). They have always been high on Beck. IIRC, they had Beck at 3 or 4 last year, despite averaging around 4 k's per 9 innings in A ball. I would also take Rodon being #2 with a grain of salt. Most of us have been following Rodon closely last season, and I think from what we've read, he's a pretty safe bet to be at least an average starter and ace potential if he reaches his ceiling. Placing a bigger question mark but not a higher reward guy like Anderson over him might just be a statement on their part. that football picture is kool as hell. now that is a bold statement. when i said this several months ago, i think i got skinned. but i agree. everything will need to click, pretty much like it did with Sale. with Anderson, i am all for him. i am really excited about him. i can't wait for spring training.
  6. QUOTE (kevo880 @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 05:02 PM) Micah Johnson at #9 and below Sanchez surprised me. i am not trying to start an argument, but to me, this seems about right and the same about hawkins.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 05:15 PM) This one would be much closer to our budget, as he sounds like a reliever. i don't know, i would like to know more about his other pitches. it would be nice to get a randy johnson type of a pitcher
  8. i really haven't thought of what the other posters are writing. on first initial glance, i was saying no way, maybe 5. but someone mention the backend of the rotation and now i can see it. i agree, maybe 9-10.
  9. really lets look at it from a different point of view. how would this forum be if everyone is a "yes sir" and must follow the mods point of view. here it was a brawl on a saturday night and the next day it was the emotions were gone. difference of opinion helps conversation. the other thing, the posters here knows their stuff, no pulling wool over there eyes.
  10. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 04:35 PM) LOL, just so you know that was pulled directly from the article you posted lol..... ok just rub it in. ok, i saw something new and i quicky posted it. i didn't read in depth i was running late.....that is my story and i am sticking to it.
  11. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 04:22 PM) Let's just get one of the Yoans! i am all for that. a nice quick way to really rebuild the system with new blood.
  12. QUOTE (southside hitman @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 03:37 PM) Chris Beck at #6 is interesting as well. 2015 will be a big year for him Beck and May are the ones that surprise me.
  13. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 03:35 PM) *waves around blackmail pictures*
  14. dang that is nice profile. i wonder, would this be a good yr to go over draft or go over the slotted money.
  15. even Jose A is getting into the idea of the sox in the playoff next yr. prob built in hype, but i like it. http://www.prosportsdaily.com/articles/exc...rth-336743.html
  16. Yoan Lopez has been clear by the government... does anyone knows his profile?? http://www.prosportsdaily.com/Headlines/Ex...rticleId=336811
  17. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jan 12, 2015 -> 07:30 AM) I can definitely see him as the 6th starter-swingman that I'd hoped Bassitt could become. Good for a team that can't be too sure what it has at the BOR. Can he be what he was a few years ago? he wouldn't be the pitcher i would selected. but he is something better than nothing. the sox needs a very good arm that can be depended on to enter the game when or if someone gets hurt. also to help on the work load when the sox's enter the playoff. the present group of pitchers doesn't have any playoff experience and those extra innings pitching.
  18. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Jan 11, 2015 -> 11:03 PM) Thank you sir. I'm trying to look at it as Davidson hit a wall and now its time for him to get back up, dust himself off and get back it. One bad minor league season for a 23 yo does not mean the end of the world, just more work needs to be done is all. Hopefully he sees 2014 as motivation for 2015. i wonder if he comes out hitting and hitting well, will the sox take him north or let him continue to grow in the minors for 1 yr.
  19. update, mlb rumors, Dr Andrews said Alexi will be ready to pitch for opening day http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/
  20. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 11, 2015 -> 06:45 PM) Yeah, he threw a week ago I believe, and there were scouts from 12-15 different teams there. according to mlb rumors Alexi medical rpts that his should doesn't look good. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/
  21. QUOTE (Tex @ Jan 11, 2015 -> 06:55 PM) Listen, a couple of young girls tried killing a friend because of their belief in slenderman. Again, we know that is crazy and there was something wrong with them. If they said they believed in Jesus, why would you think they were sane and the responsibility of the church? http://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/slender-man-stabbing you are trying to spin it..... the islamic radical have a history of doing crazy crap and yes some craze clerical even supported it. this is about the stupidity of violence and trying to stupid way of these so called religious radicals justifying their actions. ' i am thru
  22. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jan 11, 2015 -> 05:55 PM) Back to Zobrist. Rays traded him to the A's for a couple of pretty good prospects plus a catcher (Jaso) who can hit a little bit. I'm glad it was the A's giving up the prospects, not us. as you said, comparing what the A's gave up and making a similar talent from the sox i too am glad the sox didn't fall for it.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 8, 2015 -> 04:21 AM) Vlad Jr. supposed to sign with Toronto Kiley McDaniel ‏@kileymcd As I hinted in Oct http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/scouting-th...-2nd-prospects/ … intl sources expect 16 y/o Vlad Guerrero Jr to sign July 2 w/TOR for $3.2M an interesting article concerning Vlad jr. http://www.bluejaysplus.com/vladimir-guerr...5.inHXbgBV.dpbs
  24. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Jan 11, 2015 -> 05:29 PM) If true, then that's Davidson's fault since the Sox never said otherwise. Hopefully Davidson will see the setback as an opportunity to mentally grow and move on from 2014. that is the nicest way of saying that. good job.
  25. QUOTE (Señor Ding-Dong @ Jan 11, 2015 -> 05:32 PM) Let's say Brantly does win the backup catcher job; where does that leave everyone else? Kottaras would be a sure bet for Charlotte, but who would be the other AAA catcher? Nieto or Smith? Who would start, Kottaras or one of the younger guys who should be playing everyday? Smith seems ready for AAA and probably doesn't need to repeat AA at 26-years old. Would it be good for Nieto's development to go from a full season in the majors to AA instead of AAA? ML: Flowers/Brantly AAA: Smith/Kottaras AA: Nieto/Whoever It'll be even more interesting if Kottaras win the backup catcher job. Barring any transactions, that'll leave three guys who should all be playing everyday in the minors (Brantly, Nieto, Smith). while you bring up a interesting point, Nieto and his development will be the priority over anyone else in the minors. in other words, it will be up to sox brass to give the directions in how to handle Nieto and his development.
