QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 7, 2005 -> 10:55 PM) Many notes here; Interesting... I love Brynes, he can play and he has LOTS of heart, which I think this team needed. Although u can never have too much heart.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 7, 2005 -> 10:05 PM) Mauer will move to 3rd. Mark my words on that. At the same time its kind of crappy because Mauer has all the ability to be one of the best catchers of all time. It will never happen though. My guess is he will be playing 3rd base sometime this year. I'll keep note on both posts you have Chisoxfn, this one and the one about Harris. lol.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Mar 7, 2005 -> 10:01 PM) he should be fine but if there is another serious problem from what i hear he would move to 3B and Cuddyer to 2nd and Rivas goodbye :rolly From what I've heard, Rivas isn't so popular in Minnesota nowadays. They kind of soured on him since hes been injured and hasn't had that much success for a while. Also, Loshe is the Twins version of our Garland, especially to the fans. Although Jon's put up better career numbers than Loshe.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 7, 2005 -> 06:32 PM) I thought we needed a replacement for the Rumors thread wher you post those random tidbits from around baseball that don't really nead their own thread. Starting it off --- Don't you guys think he needs to switch positions? This early in his career and already that much injury prone? I am sure if they still had AJ they would be thinkin about switching his position.

QUOTE(JimH @ Mar 7, 2005 -> 09:08 PM) I find it hard to believe that KW and Ozzie are content to go with a backup SS who hasn't played the position in 3-4 years and is getting a spring training crash course. I don't, not if KW knew the 5th starter has been a main reason of failure for this team and didn't get anything close to proven at the ML level until this season...

Pretty much along with everyone else we acquired the offseason he was a very important part to the new sox. Glad to have him aboard.

Who wouldve thought people would be going at it with Borchard vs. Perez.

What the Sox need to win the ALC in 05

QUOTE(Sox1422 @ Mar 7, 2005 -> 11:52 AM) I would say they need 90-94 wins. As far as preseason projections, the only bottom feeder in this division is KC, so if we all beat up on KC then everyone has the ability to get 90 win -
QUOTE(Molto @ Mar 6, 2005 -> 10:34 PM) yeah, that is one option. If Harris plays short well enough to serve as a utility guy, then the option is to bring Adkins or Burke, but that is if Davis already has the nod over Burke, which I hope isn't the case. With his salary Davis will get the nod over Burke, remember we resigned Davis before we got AJ, when it appeared he was just something to dream about for a sec. Glad hes on the team now.

Supposedly Willie did a great job at short in a minor league game, and KW and Oz say they love how he's going about the situation hes in. Maybe their bsin but maybe they are not, if Willie proves he can do a decent job at short do you think it wouldn't be a bad idea to carry another pitcher like Adkins? http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...t=.jsp&c_id=cws

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 5, 2005 -> 02:11 PM) Estes throwing for the DBacks. Sox don't score in the 1st. Not even one run of Estes? THE Estes that got rocked at wrigley a few years ago who didn't even make it out the first?? What the hell is up with this offense!?!? lol -
QUOTE(The Critic @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 02:00 PM) My Memorial Day will be spent in the luxurious left-field bleachers of US Cellular Field watching the Sox take on the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim of California of the United States of North America of The Western Hemisphere of Planet Earth. Don't go too far there, remember were the U.S. Cellular White Sox. We keep making fun of the Halos were gonna become the Chicago U.S. Cellular Sox for good.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 2, 2005 -> 08:55 PM) LMAO if anyone finds this inappropriate delete it. Shingo's never seen hooters that big. LOL

What about being locked inside a bathroom stall? Didn't that happen to Jeff Leifer about a year ago in the minors? He was supposed to play but he was no where to be found but stuck inside the bathroom?

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 11, 2005 -> 09:39 PM) Remember our last big brawl? 2000 against the Tigers helped us win the division. f*** Robert Fick. I doubt there will be any brawl but I hope so, this new team needs to come together and believe in each other. If that happens that would be great, no matter by how much their losing they should always believe they can come back like in 2000.

Hey Rock Raines I see we have the same taste in females. Great picture you have of her by the way.

QUOTE(TheBigHurt35 @ Feb 11, 2005 -> 01:56 PM) That's true, although he'll live and die by his command with that style of pitching. If he falls behind a hitter and needs to throw a fastball over the plate, he's in trouble. More "traditional" closers (like Percival, for example) can reach back and throw a 97 MPH fastball over the plate without fear of it being jacked out of the park. While I don't necessarily think that he'll be lights-out again this year, I agree that he'll be an effective closer. It doesn't matter what speed you can throw as long as you can get the hitter out. Foulke's out pitch is an offspeed change up and hes fine, that goes to prove he can beat the hitter all he has to do is be wise and don't throw a cookie.

Johan's Contract Situation
Whitewashed in '05 replied to Whitewashed in '05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If they trade him they can end up getting some good talent. Then the kids they get can come up and be a total sox killers... God I hate that, every opposing rookie kicks our ass but our rookies always get their asses kicked. I wish our farm system was like thiers. They picked up that Eric Munson guy from the Tigs incase Cuddyer faulters. They made a good pickup with him because hes not good defensivley and has a poor avg. Good power numbers and RBI's, I think just a little time in their farm system and he could end up being a good player. -
With a lot of the rumors lately about Johan having trouble getting a contract done with the Twinkies, do you think he will be with them after 05? They are a small market team and he could command a good 11m+ a year if he puts up cy caliber numbers again. With that in mind, will the Twins lock him up or trade him for some "cant miss" pitching prospects? I really dont know about his contract status but I have heard he could hit the FA market. I know its a pipe dream but could he end up on the south side? With Ozzie and his shaky relationship towards the Twins organization is there a real chance we can get him? Again I don't know about his contract status so when is the earliest he can become a FA?

Everytime I see some one other than our sox winning the series I get into this mood where im pissed but happy for the team that won it because one day I wish it will happen with my team. The weird thing about it is that even though we didn't make it to the post and we've been eliminated from winning the series I still get this disappointment once that last out is made and I see the winning team celebrating like theres no tomorrow... Anyone else feel that way?

QUOTE(Molto @ Jan 29, 2005 -> 12:31 PM) if true, the Tigers will be Maggs second team, but far away from his last. I have a feeling he'll end up traveling around the U.S. for the rest of his career, from team to team. Not if he's healthy.
-
QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 29, 2005 -> 12:14 PM) Maggs will have to pass a physical. If he's 85% to 100%, some team is getting a bargain. In fair evalutation of Maggs talent with money 11 million is good enough. From what he thinks he's worth which is what 14 mil? Then yes he comes a little cheap, they just better hope he performs or they'll be stuck with Higginson pt 2.

Pirates owner rips other owners

QUOTE(TLAK @ Jan 29, 2005 -> 09:35 AM) 2. Two of the last 3 WS champions were mid to low budget teams, Angels and Marlins. The Angels have since gone wild but the Marlins are still pretty conservative. You can beat the Yankees and Rsox without going broke. I don't think thats a fair statement because if Yanks management was smarter in the past they would have spent their unlimited money on something other than hitters, like pitchers. Bring this to the present, can low budget teams really compete going against RJ, Pavano, Brown, Mussina, and Wright? -

For the people saying that there shouldn't be a salary cap I ask you one question. Put yourself in the shoes of a die hard Devil Ray fan, you have NYY and Boston competeing to sign the best players no matter what the contract. Then you have Bal. who recently started opening up the wallet, where does that leave you in the division? Do you think its fair? The only reason players are getting so much money is because of these clubs, these avg players gettin huge contracts just because of teams like NYY and Bos driving their price up. Would Clement think about coming to the Drays? No, what about RJ to Toronto? No. Now you can toss the question if the contract was big enough they would, well I think thats bs because if small market teams were able to compete then players would take a pay cut to play for a contender. How are you going to be a contender though with Boston and NY on top of you?
