Sox @ Twinkies: 4/9/05 Game Thread
Whitewashed in '05 replied to Butter Parque's topic in 2005 Season in Review
QUOTE(Reddy @ Apr 9, 2005 -> 04:32 PM) pauly couldnt hit Lohse remember? we know how that played out. We all know Pauly got the last laugh yesterday but Lohse wasn't on. That being said, if Radke is on and Dye is in the lineup, there is a greater chance of Dye failing than winning. Like 3E8 said, rather go with what we have better chances with. -

Ozzie is a f***ing moron. I still don't know how you use all your pitchers...worse part about it, they barely pitched!!! UGH I dont even care about the game anymore, ozzie did something very STUPID. -

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 7, 2005 -> 03:52 PM) Viz better get a pat on the back after this one. This sucks. Yeh, he's taking one for the team. -
QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 06:17 PM) Don't believe everything you read. Carlos Lee was the MVP of the 04 ChiSox. If all this was 100% true in this town it would have surfaced long ago. The jury is still out as to whether KW will eat his lunch on the Lee trade. Unlike the rest of you I'm not basing it mostly on what El Duque does. I'm basing it primarily on what AJP, Pods, Vizc, Iggy & the PTBNL do. That's where I see Lee's salary being spent. So far plus points for AJP & Iggy, but minuses for Pods & Vizc. It's a long season. Its bad how many of our fans have bad stuff to say about Carlos when he's said nothing but good things about the club. Only the Sox know what happened in the club house, none of us know anything but whats being said. Carlos stepped up for the sox last year wether it was for his own stats or for the team, he was the reason we won some games and didn't end up in 3rd place. The least you could do is respect him for that.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 04:48 PM) http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/recap?gid=250406104 The past 2 games have been pretty rough. Our offense hasn't done that great of a job and our pitching has been pretty good. As long as our pitching can keep us in close games we are in it til the end. One thing I keep hearing thats really true "good teams win close games" and we've been doing that. I hope this is the year of a new resurgence.

That is bs, if someone made fun of where I was from more than me I would be pretty pissed too. Someone mentioned that the more stuff they hear about Lee the more happy hes gone but what does Cowley have against Lee? Isn't this the 2nd article bashing Lee? He's gone, how many times do we have to say thats history...leave it that way.

QUOTE(sircaffey @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 04:25 PM) Yeah the stadium attitude looked like crap on TV. We need some people there damn it. What was the recording attendance? I'd go but I'm at college. Sorry but the only people who go to games during the day either are off or don't work, I, myself was at work. So whats the reason the flubs sell out everygame wether its noon or afternoon? Because they dont work. The attendance was near 11k.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 6, 2005 -> 03:59 PM) That means they're not throwing crappy Joe "Cy" Mays against us. Yeah right, crappy until he's against the sox, then hes Johan Santana.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 09:43 PM) I remember that. No one at WSI wanted anything to do with Meche. I remember I think it was in 03 right after the AS break we lost one to Detriot then we went on a tear, I think our offense was averaging 8 runs per game for 10 games then we went to Seattle and Franklin and Meche just handed us some pine then the whole team was on a f***in slump, that sucked... -

QUOTE(3E8 @ Apr 5, 2005 -> 09:11 PM) He isn't coming off an arm surgury this year. Or a bad spring. There isn't a single team in the majors whos playoff hopes ride on one player more than the Twins rely on Santana. Take any teams best player out of their roster and they won't be the same, not only for them. Besides the Twins have been winning for a reason and thats not only because of Santana but because everyone on that team steps up unlike ours. I would also rather have to rely on one player than a shaky Duque and Contreras. I definitley wanna beat the Twins this year but you gotta give them their props. -
Games you're going to this month...

Speaking of sending people down, wouldn't it suck if you were in the majors for one whole season and did ok but was sent down the following year like Adkins? Adkins would have probably done a good job this year. Although, you never know, if Politte keeps up his current pace Adkins will be back before May.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Mar 31, 2005 -> 06:05 PM) I'm just saying that a very vocal and surprisingly large contingent of the board are so bllod-thirsty for Maggs to do poorly that there could practically be a thread for every 0 for 3. Guys-let it go. It's over. 2005 is about to start I agree but I must be the only one... -

QUOTE(daa84 @ Mar 29, 2005 -> 10:39 PM) im not singling you out or anything, im just simply saying that many people on this board and on others are extremely high on jaime burke for reasons i don't understand. hes 33 years old, and he hasnt played major league ball ever essentialy. Yes, he played well in his time in the majors, but the fact of the matter is that he has 0 power, 0 speed. Hes an average defensive catcher who got lucky in his time with teh big league club. Im not saying that widger is that much better of an option than burke, but i think he is a bit more proven and probably will hit better on a consistent basis, and brings more experience to the team. I am not "extremely high" on Burke but I think Burke should get his chance if Davis is hurt over Widger. Widger is more proven than Burke but Widger didn't even play last season, I haven't even mentioned the fact that Burke deserves his chance if a spot opens up. Wether he was lucky or not last season, he should be the backup for Davis, he earned it, for the organization to bring Widger up instead of Burke would be kind of wrong since Burke has done everything the club has asked him. If Burke doesn't get the job done then give Widger the chance but Burke has earned his spot on this team if Davis gets injured for some time.

Anyone got any tips for me on this game? The only MVP I have played is 03 and I own everyone on that game. Now that I got 05 I can't do s***. My pitching it subpar, batting I either check swing or K. I hate the fact that you have to hold the button down to swing that throws me completely off. Right now I hate this game compared to 03 I need some help bad, any tips are appreaciated.

White Sox v. A's Spring Training game

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 28, 2005 -> 04:23 PM) Flash, do you remember (two years ago, I think it was) the two duels that Mark Mulder in Mark Buehrle had, one at the Cell, and one at the Colleseum? I'm not old enough to remember any really great classics, but those two games were probably the best two games I've ever seen in my lifetime. Both games were under or close to two hours long, and both games saw Buehrle and Mulder dominate. I remember Oakland winning one, forgot who won the other, but man -- those games were beautiful, win or loss. Anyone else remember those? Yeah we lost 1-0 the first and 2nd we lost too but dont remember the score. All I know is that on the third try Buehrle outduled Mulder in a CG shutout. -

Didnt Jimenez lose a pop fly with the bags juiced and allowed 2 runs to score one time? Also, didnt maggs hit a homer but bounced inside the fence and came back in and called it a double? We've had some bad luck against them...
